During this part of my report, I may jump around throughout the week, so bare with me. Tuesday, EC had to go for his dialysis treatment at 6am, so after my date with the whirlpool spa, it was just KC and I that morning in IOA. Can you tell my son loves IOA, by this time! We ate breakfast at the Crescent Moon—very yummy! Thanks Robinrs!!! I had a fruit cup and took a couple a bites from KC’s plate. KC wanted to hit the coasters, so I wanted to keep my stomach fairly empty. Since, it was between 9 and 10, we were able to get on Hulk with keycard immediately and do DD back to back—fire and ice twice. I forget the poster that gave the excellent advise a while back about how to ride the coaster without getting lite-headed and it REALLY worked well for me. I did not have a “scrambled egg-head” this trip after doing the coasters. When I pumped my legs and few times before taking off on DD and raised them during the ride along with my arms, I felt a lot better. Btw, when did the Hulk get a FLOOR! Bummer! I hate the floor, but it was still fun. Here’s my first jump…yesterday, EC, KC and I decided to do water rides that day. It was a blast; accept for the airhead on Bilge Rats with us. It was a Dad trying to film his kids on the ride. The attendant kept warning him to put away the camcorder or it will get wet. Would he listen? Oh noooo, it got splashed! He also kept opening the container in the middle and fumbling with his stuff. Finally, another gentleman on the ride just had to close and snap it and politely told him that we did not want our gear wet, either put his stuff in or out. After all that, he walks off the ride and leaves his camcorder in the bin. Duuuh! His son had to tell him to go back for it. He was too occupied arguing with the attendant about staying on the ride for a second time. Ok, let’s morph back to the next day. After we did the coasters, we headed over to the blacksmith shop where the guy that pounds the coins. KC kept asking him to sound the gong. His shop and costuming, of course, was exceptionally themed for the Lost Continent and we had a blast picking a couple of “talismans” for KC. All during our conversation, he stayed in character, and he would refer to Pres.Bush as the Sultan when we conversed about the law of land, taxes, etc,. He gave us a little history on the items and crafts in his shop. Some of their designs can run into the hundreds of dollars. We didn’t invest that much. The only downer was his shop did not accept the standard discounts from AAA, US, etc. They are a privately owned shop operating within IOA because of the nature of their craft. No matter, we still purchased a couple of items. This guy is usually there during the early part of the day. Stop and visit the blacksmith shop—I wish I knew his name. If he is there, he makes his shop an attraction in itself. After a stop at the candy shop in Seuss Landing, we headed over to RPH to meet EC after his treatment. We lounged at the pool for about an hour then headed over to Disney Quest, before the evening crowds.

Downer time—Housekeeping was getting worse. I do not tip maids, so I was wondering if that was the problem. I used to, but don’t anymore. There are not any small children in our party looking for towel bunnies, so unless she goes out of her way to do something special, tips are out. We do not leave our room in a shambles when we leave. Trash is in the garbage, all used towels are in one neat pile behind the door, stuff is not scatter over the table, and food items and beverage are put away in a drawer. Clothes are hung up or put away. There was no excuse for her not to vacuum, give us clean glasses or coffee cups or change our linen. The housekeeper did not vacuum, did not wipe ANY tabletops or countertops, turn our dirty glasses and cups over as if she replaced them, threw the little bottles of lotion, shampoo, etc in the basket, even if we hadn’t touch the first ones—piled high with little bottles, but no towels. She didn’t change our linen. And the only thing she would do is making up the bed and put towels in the bathroom. This happen halfway through our stay. When I found out that our used cups had been placed back in the little trays as if they were clean, I was livid. We had to call and have someone come up clean our room while we were there. Fortunately, when called housekeeping came up and did our entire room again. I asked them to clean the entire room as if it had not been touched and to change the linen. I made a note to them about the nasty cups and glasses, and the unswept bathroom floors. I asked them to strip the beds and change the linen even though it “appeared” freshly made. We left for dinner and it was cleaned completely this time when we returned. Kudos to the housekeeping manager for that prompt service and courtesy. After that, we had become paranoid about checking for clean linen and checking if our glasses and cups were clean and rinsing them before we used them diligently putting our toothbrushes away to make sure no one dipped them in the toilet out of spite. I never had a housekeeping problem at HRH, or any other hotel I’ve stayed at. Especially, the deliberate grossness we experienced. It got better, but I didn’t trust them after that. We were on the fifth floor on the end with a “water” view.
To cut this story short, the problem with billing was minuet compared to the housekeeping issue. It was the only true downer for the entire trip. Hope its better. Too bad I won’t book there any more to find out. Part III coming soon.

Thanks for the report. I briefly considered booking at RPH, but now I'm gald I didn't - that bit about turning over the dirty glasses is really awful! Regarding the linens, I'm not sure that was due to poor housekeeping - I thought it was standard practice in the hotel industry to only completely change linens between guests, not every night, unless specifically asked for. I know Disney has signs posted in their resort rooms about this policy.

I was at IOA in May 2000, and the Hulk had a floor then - I thought it always did. It's one of the reasons I liked the coaster so much. Did they remove it and then replace it? Can you direct me to the post about not getting disoriented when riding DD? I've had that problem before! (it could be that we rode it over, and over, and over......)

My husband was leaving the maid $5 per day and we had the same problem with the cups and glasses. She also never left us a new roll of toilet paper when ours was empty and we had to search her out. On our last day hubby was fed up and left her nothing.

Maybe the Hulk REALLY scrambled my brains last year, 'cause I thought it was floorless like DD.
Anyway, I'll see if I can dig up that string about avoiding sickness on the coasters. It really helped me with my coaster-crazed teen, who wanted me to join him. In time, he may find me too "embarrassing", so I'll join him as long as he wants me along for the ride.:)

Btw, I hope you guys take the time to right a short note to the Manager of RPH, his name is Scott Bedford (407-503-3185) and cc Loews Corp. Also, I mentioned all the excellent service we DID received with the exception of housekeeping.

Maybe I'm wrong about the Hulk's floor - it's been a few years, and the senior moments are coming closer together now! I could be imagining it, since I know it's not a "hanging" (or whatever the right term is) rollercoaster. I just don't remember my feet hanging free - I seem to remember being able to brace them against something.

The Hulk has always had a "floor".
Maybe you were thinking about Kraken.
