Saturday morning we woke up at about 9. My dad wanted to be on the road no later than 10:30 so we could get there pretty early. I woke up and I could hardly contain my excitement. I knew that in about 4 hours I would be aboard the ship. We packed up and checked out of the hotel. We left the hotel about 10:45. In order to get more sleep, we grabbed a bagle on the road. The first hour all looks the same. I swear we passed the same trees and small lakes as we drove. But I knew that wasn't the case, in fact we were just getting closer to the Port. Once I started seeing some bridges I knew we were getting closer. Finally I realized we were getting to the one big hill that once we got over, we could see the Magic in all her glory. We got over the hill and I saw the ship and my breath was taken away. I think that was one of the best parts of the trip. It still gives me chills when I think about it. It's so fantastic!!! Anyway, we pulled into Port Canaveral and had to go thru a couple of security checkpoints that consisted off my parents having to show their id's. No biggie. The Carnival Glory was in port when the Magic was. Not being partial to Disney, I think the Magic and Wonder are better than any ship out there. They might not be the biggest or have the most stuff to do, but they look the best!! Anyway, because we were there for a couple of days before, we had to rent a car. This process was a hassle. My parents dropped me, my bro, and my grandparents off at the luggage gathering station. From there, we went through security (maybe 10 minutes) and went and waited in the check-in lobby. They had to drive back to the Budget station and then take the shuttle back to the terminal. They didn't get back for probably 30 minutes. But while we were waiting I got some pictures with Minnie, so that's cool.:D Finally they arrived and we were able to check in. We didn't get onto the ship until about 1:00, which I think is the perfect time. Of course, they had people there welcoming and announcing us. It was great to get back to the ship!!! it looked great!! Before we were on five mintues we ran to Off Beat to make Palo reservations for my parents. It was great, they got the exact reservations they wanted, Monday at 6. Because the staterooms weren't ready until 1:30 we had to lug our bags to lunch. Finally we could eat!!! We decided to go to Parrot Cay because there were less people there. It was great. it wasnt crowded and the food was excellent. Of course, I had to remember not to eat a lot because we had a full week of gorging ahead of us. When we were done, we went to the room to drop our stuff off. We stayed at 7035, which is a Cat. 11. It was one bathroom, a queen bed for my parents, and then the foldown and couch for me and my bro. It was small, but we didn't need a big one because we wouldn't be in there often. Oh, our rotation was LAP, which was fine. It was a little weird because we were in Parrot Cay for formal night, but no biggie. Straight from there, Kyle and I went to Common Grounds to check in. I love that place. it was so awesome the entire trip. The counselors were Danielle from Canada, Ellen, Jarrod, and Katty all from the U.S. They MADE the whole experience. They were funny, informative, fun to hang with, and made the parties great. After we checked in, I went over to the basketball courts to check them out. In fact, one of the kids I hung out with the entire time I met on the first day at the court. After that, I hung out at the deck party. It was drizziling, so that wasn't cool, but to still know that I have seven fun filled days ahead of was great. Then, at 3:30, I went to the DIS Board meet. That was so much fun meeting everyone that I had talked to. I hope we all continue to stay in touch. After that, it was time to get to the life jacket drill. That wasn't that bad because everyone came fast and showed up. The only thing is, in Tucson, it may be 110 but it's dry. In Florida, it's like 90 but 90% humidity. So you put those jackets on and instantly you start sweating. I felt that the entire week. I would be dripping after walking from forward to aft outside. Those life boats are serious!! I thought they would just be little rafts, but they are serious boats that hold 150 people. Anyway, from there it was getting time for dinner. We all went back and showered and got dressed up. I read in all the stuff how Lumiere's is supposed to be more formal than the others. Well, I didn't think so at all. I just wore a collared shirt and it looked fine. I didn't feel too casual. In fact, I saw someone come in shorts. Our servers were: head Putra from Indonesia, and (assisant) Wilson from the Phillipines. These guys were great. they did magic tricks and really made the whole dining experience fun. But I will exlplain more on that. Our matire'd was Jeff from Kenya. He was really great also. My mom is a strict vegan vegetarian, so every night she would order just vegtables steamed in water. Jeff made sure everything was perfect every time. Of course, I had an entree, two appetizers, and a dessert. I am a huge eater to begin with, and then add a cruise and I am in hog heaven!!! From there, I changed and we went to the welcome aboard variety show. It was hilarious. The first act was Dan Reily. He sang parodies of songs. He was good. But the next guy was fantastic. he was michael harrison. He was a crack-up. I was laughing the entire time. He brought a kid in from the audience and did a ventriloquist act with the kid. My sides hurt from laughing the entire time. It was probably the best show of the week. After that, I knew the night was just beginning. I went right to Common Grounds. I met so many kids the first night!!! I was trying to meet as many kids as possible. Then Katty and Danielle did the 411. If you are a teen, you have to do this. They explain all of everything. It is very helpful. It only took about 30 minutes, so from there we went to Studio Sea for kareoke and then the dance. The singing was fun, but I'll tell you, the Family Kareoke was so much better. Everyone was getting in to it and the crowd was having fun. But that's another night. The dance was cool, but a little awkward because nobody really knew each other. that got out about 1:30 and from there we went out to deck 4 and talked. I'll tell you, it is awesome. You could sit on chairs and look at the stars. Anyway, we were all getting kinda tired so we went to bed about 2:15. What a great beginning to a cruise!!
