I was rechecking the DCL site for this cruise today,

THe prices haven't changed for about two weeks now after the opening day or so,

Cat 4 is GTY only you cannot select any specific cabin.

Cat 5 has reasonable availability,( it shows 6> 8 cabins but the system only does that might have a few more, but Cat 6 only has 4 rooms available at the time of checking.

Cat 8.9.10.11 All reasonable availability.

OMG, I just was missing in action for one day!!!! You folks have been busy! I'm off to my best friend's wedding. It's her second marriage and I'm in the wedding party (yikes). Anyway, it's in Connecticut and we'll be staying overnight so keep the post count down PLEASEEEEEEE. As it is, some of you who got pirate: are going to have to wait to see their name in lights.

Happy post Halloween. We only had about 10 kids and the weather was wonderful.

Don't forget to set your clocks one hour back tonight!!!!!

The Californians gave out in this order: Sun Chips, Sugar pop singles, candy, play-doh for the young ones. Glow in the dark bracelets for the big ones and 1-3 pieces of candy which included: Almond Joys, Hersheys, Charleston Chews, Starburst, Baby Ruth, Laffy Taffy, Kit Kat - white chocolate, dark chocolate and milk chocolate, Mr. Goodbar, skittles, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and pieces, Nestle Crunch and Halloween Popcorn singles.

This sounds like a plan for next year to me! I never thought about giving chips etc.

I almost passed out in front of her due to overexertion and was rushed to the hospital - They lost my pulse.

OMG this is my nightmare--ever watch the Biggest Loser? I am amazed that more of them are not taken to the hospital with the exertion in the last chance work out. Are you ok now though? No lasting problems?

I even stayed out on the porch until 9:45 in the hopes of some latecomers.
We did this too--we ended up with about 65 kids. PLENTY of Candy left over. Does your Mom still need some?

Around here, Ronald McDonald houses for families of kids with cancer accept excess candy and give it out to kids, so you might look into that if you have a lot left over. My kids always sort through what they get, make a small bag of what the really want, and we deliver the rest to the Ronald mcDonald house near Cornell-Weill Medical Center about 12 blocks away. What a great idea!! I will look into that:yay:
My dogs were both in skeleton costumes all day, and it was fun walking them yesterday!

BTW< we will gladly accept your candy but unfortunately we are on the other side of the continent . . .:lmao: Around here, Ronald McDonald houses for families of kids with cancer accept excess candy and give it out to kids, so you might look into that if you have a lot left over. Congrats JoAnn! You sound happy! :goodvibes

Good idea - if we all send you one - you'll have a bouquet by 2010. :flower3:

 I'm impressed - :lovestruc your porch too. I have a friend who would kill for HM ghosts. When and where did you find them?

I hope she wore that shirt undearneath it.

My dd - after she made me buy her a flapper outfit, wore a pink lady outfit to school  So tonight - she chose to stay home a bit and then she went to her football game. As mean as I was, I told her either you wear that flapper costume to the game or you'll wear it next year. SO........she wore it to the football game. She wanted to know what to wear under the skirt as it tended to ride up and I said wear leggings or nylons. Her sister came to her rescue ( ) and gave her some red fishnet stocking. (This from the girl who later dressed up as a burlesque dance. (she's 21)

Wow! I was all jazzed as I found premium at $2.91 which my baby has to have premium.

And before you ask, no this is not what I normally give. I missed Halloween last year due to "unfortunate incident" and landed in the hospital. By the time I came out it was 8:45 and only gave out to about 4 trick or treaters. So this year, I decided to stay home and give out candy.

LOL - my trainer called me today (she was the unfortunate incident last year) I almost passed out in front of her due to overexertion and was rushed to the hospital - They lost my pulse. I was fine - just over--exerted so I made up for it this time. I had a grand old time passing out candy. Loved seeing the princess and spider-mans and ghosts, gouls and goblins. I especially :lovestruc the adults that asked for candy. It was sweet. Also, I was really amazed at the kudos I got from the young mothers to which I gave the little ones Sugar Corn Pop Singles, Sun Chips, Cheetos stuff like finger foods. Guess I'm not the odd ball one anymore.

I also dressed my furr kids as a hot dog and an angel and YES I walked them that way. Public Safety loved them. The city always does a type of carnival fair so that kids don't get exposed to wier-dos or danger. So while I was all outfitted for tons of kids - I only got about 50 kids. But they made out like a bandit. I even stayed out on the porch until 9:45 in the hopes of some latecomers. But to no avail. My mom - who lives 2 miles away ended up calling me and ORDERING me (she rarely orders) to bring her more candy ASAP!:scared1: She grossly underestimated the kids - she claims she had over 200 kids.

Lucky her - aw well, when you miss out on something you realize what makes you happy and this year I was especially happy to be at home passing out candy. Now.......does anyone need some candy?

We had a nice Halloween, about 75 kids came which is a little less than usual......we have the big lawn decorations so people know we're giving out candy. My end of the street has mostly moved away so there's not a lot of young kids anymore. It was still fun to see some of the costumes and interact with the teenagers. We "fog" them as they're ringing the doorbell, so there's a "trick" and "treat" at my house!!:thumbsup2 :rotfl:

So you're saying that all the bigger rooms are mostly booked on this trip. It's hard to believe that that many people knew to book when the itinerary opened. Thx to all for keeping us up to the minute on this cruise!!!:woohoo:

Okay I will give it a shot!:thumbsup2

I LOVE YOUR DISNEY HM GHOSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning Diser's

I'm impressed - :lovestruc your porch too. I have a friend who would kill for HM ghosts. When and where did you find them?

Yeah I was lucky I bought them and the tombstones a couple of years ago Disneystore online! I think they had problems with shipping the ghosts they have not been offered since & sold out quickly!

How is availability on the other Baltic Cruises, I wonder If DCL has been bitten by the recession bug?

There was an article in Todays papers saying that Holiday Airfares are actually decreasing! It went on to say that usually at this time of year they are Increasing but due to pricing & the economy there is a lack of demand even though the airlines have slashed the number of available seats!

Hope that prices drop by the time I have to book my airfares for the cruise!:cool1:

Afternoon one and all

Our Halloween was pretty normal asI said it's not really big over here.

Josh bought the PS3 eye create camera and software this morning so the boys are having fun making stop motion videos.

It's raining and cold here today :sad2: not nice

They always have the Banfi inside the wine shop in Italy, I think it runs about $7. a glass.
In the wine shop in Germany they have a really good and refreshing drink, it's sparkling wine with strawberry puree added.
At the Rose & Crown you will have to try a Welsh Dragon, yum yum. Then the other drink I get there is the (hard) cider and Ribena, that's good on a hot day.
Of course in France the drink of choice is a kir royale.

Can you tell that I've unofficially completed a 'drink around the world' course?!? :confused3 :drinking1 :woohoo: :drinking1 :jumping1: :drinking1

My wife and I always get the sparkling wine/strawberry puree from Germany, but they didn't have it the last time we went. I'm hoping that it's back for our next trip!

I didn't know that Ronald McDonald House did that. I think they do a great service and would love to be able to help out. When I was full time at the Disney Store, we used to go to the one in Delaware and help out. We decorated one of the rooms in a Mickey mouse theme, and it was very popular!

Don't forget folks that transatlanitc flight prices GO UP as it get closer to the flight date NOT down as internal flight do.....so you really need to book your flights at the 11 month out mark which is when they will be at the cheapest.

Again there are a lot of factors coming into play and you could not evaluate this at this time.

The 2010 came on sale about 17 days ago, this was the earliest release of cruises in DCL 's history, October 14th for all of 2010, last years was December 4th for 2009, and it was January 31st for 2008, so they have moved the release date earlier and earlier to avoid any rush and give the greatest choice.

This will have the effect of reducing people booking 'dummy' dates rebooking on-board with no intension of going on that cruise just getting the discount for a future cruise and bumping on. You cannot extrapolate that out of the bookings, but now people can book any cruise 2009 and 2010 and not dummy ones.

Next we know at times the Caribbean cruises cannot be selling well, with the bounce-back $99 offer they must have a lot of empty rooms, where these cancelled, are these slow due to the Economic situation, or its it as they stayed in the Caribbean all year 2009 the select is limited, IE boring, and people have moved to more interesting offers in 2010.

We saw, nearly no activity on the boards on December 4th last year few people noticed the release, I set up a cruise meets thread for 08/15/09 with little response at that time, However we saw considerable activity on October 14th, lots of main forum posts and also lots of cruise meets threads set up for 2010 with lots of activity. I would take that to mean the 2010 initial sales was very good, IMHO, better than 2009 sales, not as good as 2008 West coast and Panamas as they 'sold out.

But the next factor, people have considerable choice for 2010 not just Repo or west coast, there are:-
• Trans Atlantic's(2)
• Meds 10 and 11 nights (4 and 4)
• Europe repos 7 x 1 or 8 x 1 days
• Baltic cruises (2 types 4 cruises)
• Wonder 5 nights ( 2 types, 12 cruises)
• Magic NORMAL 7 Nights Eastbound and Westbound
• Wonder normal 3/4 nights
• Christmas cruises both on Magic and Wonder.

So with sooo much choice ,I personally wouldn't expect any cruise to sell out quickly and at such and early time, The school holiday season ones will sell the fastest.

I really hope they haven't gotten rid of the sparkling wine/strawberry puree drink and it was a fluke it wasn't offered when you were there. :sad2:

I hope everyone had a nice Halloween. We had a little party with a few friends of each of our boys before trick or treating. It was a beautiful night weather wise after having such a chilly week.

Keegan (DS11) has his first play off game today for football. They play until they lose or win it all over the next few weekends. Wrestling starts Nov 17 so we won't be getting a sports break this year.

We went ahead and booked a 4 day Wonder trip on 2/1/09 and will bounceback for $99 on the 8/13/09 3 day Wonder cruise. We just couldn't pass up the deal, especially with having 2 free Southwest Airlines tickets we earned and nights at a Marriot on points we've earned.

RJAYL--your house was AWESOME!!! Until I saw yours, I thought ours looked cool with 1 full size pirate and some light up pumpkins!

Congrats I fly to Orlando on 8/12 next year and cruise on the Magic on the 15th, so that day we are both at sea on DCL

Thanks for posting this. That will be a great system to use.
I hope you will be able to buy a cd of your pics like you can at WDW.

I can see using your stateroom tv to view the pics.
We did like the stateroom interactive on Carnival. It was nice to view our bill and not waste paper, view the upcoming menus, and look over the available excursions. That was the best thing about Carnival. :confused3
