Mickey’s Ballyhoo Circle Journal

I would like to start a circle journal for our Dis Group. A Circle Journal is like a scrapbook that is made by a circle of friends. You do not need any scrapbooking knowledge-
You can choose a theme for your album, and each participant in the group creates a layout for you to put in your album, using your theme. In turn, you create a layout for each of their albums/themes, and in the end you each have an album/book that was created completely by your friends, and you are surprised and amazed when you see the finished book!
A circle journal starts with its owner, who decorates the cover and designs the title page and instruction page for the other members. Usually, the album includes a member sign-in page that becomes the table of contents when the journal is complete. Finally, the circle journal owner prepares a page layout based on the theme to begin the journal and as an example of the theme. However, part of the fun of a circle journal is seeing how the members interpret the theme and how it inspires them. WE will vote on either having one theme or each person decision on his or her theme when I have all the participants.

Choosing a format for the circle journal is an important step in the process. All of the journals in a group don't have to be the same size, but generally circle journals are mini albums, 6x6 or 8x8 size. However, it's not unusual to see them in a variety of formats, from 3-ring board books to spiral-bound albums. The really fun part about this is choosing your theme. You get to pick anything you want, and everyone has to comply! Some of the folks I’ve done this with have chosen themes centered on themselves, such as “My family”, “Cities I’ve lived in”, or “My favorite TV shows”. If you choose a theme like this, you need to provide a list of items for everyone to choose from (how else will they know what your favorite TV shows are?) and they’ll each pick one for the layout they create for you. The end result of a theme like this is an album that is specific to you.

Another approach for your theme is to center it on the people participating instead, with a theme like “Disney”, “Crusin”, “How I relax”, or “My favorite movie”. If we choose a theme like this, we will each document something about ourselves on the layout. The end result of a theme like this is an album that tells little stories about your friends.

The next decision will be to start the journal, lets say February, and send them via the postal service or just sending completed pages directly to the “owner” which he/she will put in his /her album. I like sending the book because each participant gets to see what was done prior to receiving it and its easier to work directly in the book, than on a loose pages- but it may get expensive to mail what may be 10 albums throughout a 14 month time period??? Not sure- since I don’t know how many will want to do this.
Or-
We email our topic to each other- work on each other’s pages at home and bring them on the cruise and set up a night where we can exchange and put our pages together and share them with everyone. . This is the most fun part, as you will get to see what everyone has been working on for your theme. It is also a lot of fun to see others react to the pages you made for them.
… We can do this on ANDREW’S VERANDA after Carley’s Sweet 16 !! :cool1::cool1:I know I’m brilliant!!! I can’t help it!!!!!:upsidedow:upsidedow
So, if interested send me a pm- 10 is usually a perfect number for this if we decide to send them through the mail, if we are going to bring all our pages to the ship, we can have any amount of participants.
You DON’T NEED ANY Scrapbooking EXPERIENCE_ JUST SOME PICTURES OR Articles OR POSTS FROM HERE WITH YOUR JOURNAL TO THAT PERSON_-
Its such a great memory and a great way to get even closer to our cyber friends!! :grouphug:The best part is that we have soooo much to work on them!!!!!!

Ahh you noticed that,

Okay

Its Half Time the Pats are leading the Rams 13 to 10

Whats up?

Does not look like much!:surfweb:

No much luck at PC World. The power lead on Josh's laptop has a dodgy connector and even when we do get it charging, the laptop it'self doesn't seem to hold the charge properly. Anyway no problem as we pay a monthly maintenance agreement, so off we went to PC World to get it sorted....WRONG

We have to call "The Techguys" who will send an engineer home, he will then try and fix the problems, if he can't he will report the problems and the "office" will send us some return labels so we can send the laptop and the power cable for inspection and repair at the "lab". If they can't fix it they will send us vouchers to buy a new laptop     all #i want is a new blinking power cable

I hope your "Techguys" are better than the Geek Squad. They solve most problems by reformatting your hard drive. Suggest you backup anything important first :cool2:
If power is going to your laptop but it's not holding a job it could also be the battery - especially if it's an older machine.

Best of luck

Thanks for the advice, hadn't thought about backing it up but that does seem like a good idea as he's got all his Med cruise video and photos on it. The machine is not old under 2 years...is that old for a laptop
