My DS had just turned 11, and he really didn't like being in with the 13 year olds. He felt bullied too. There were things thatt he wanted to do, like the Guitar Hero competition, but he didn't even get a single turn. We had the boys with us most of the time too.

I already emailed DCL about how disappointed we were with the Ocean Quest arrangement. It sounds like they're back to the normal age ranges, and I hope they stay that way.

Don't forget about the kid who managed to get himself stuck on top of one of the elevators! :scared1:

Good Grief   it sounds as if it was more like a zoo instead of a cruise

She has her own company and has other guides that work for her. Everyone that has used her company has had high regards for the guide and driver. I'll have to see if I can find her website and let you know.
I found her website, hope it works:

What was really good was that she was able to give us student pricing for all the kids/students in our group and there were 6 of them from age 14-20. That saved each family about $40. or so per student.

Our guide paid for our photo/video passes in the museums and we just paid her back at the end of the tour. She also paid for our lunch the first day in rubles until we could get to an atm to get rubles ourself.

No deposit was required and we paid in US$ the morning of the 2nd day. One family chose to pay with a credit card and there was a small surcharge, about 2% or 3%. We tipped our guide in US$ and the driver in our leftover rubles.

:thumbsup2 :lmao:

Ok, suggestions, comments for these possible logos for our group. I know she'll add the date once we decide..............votes.............

Thx to Tara for her efforts!! :woohoo:
Top one

Yes this one, nice.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the link Barb. I was looking over on cruisecritic, and this company and 3 others have some good recommendations. Plus the price seems much better than what some of the other cruise lines are charging for their excursions.
We saved about $300. by booking on our own and had a much better experience.
We had 12 people in our group and that was a great size. We were also able to customize the tour to the places we wanted to visit. We had early entry into the Hermitage and the royal treasures room (an extra charge), which we had all to ourselves for about 20 minutes.

On this cruise I want to go into the Peterhof as last time we just walked the gardens and took in the fountains. We may do the hydrofoil back to the city and forego the subway, although they are magnificient and shouldn't be missed if possible.

Ok all, I've setup post #5 on the 1st page of this thread as a central repository of all things that any of us may find useful in our future planning.

I've been through everything posted so far and got the links that Barb and Joanne had posted. If you come across anything else that you think should go in there just PM me and let me know. I will try and keep it up to date by reading all that is posted but I know what a prolific lot you are and I don't want to miss anything

I've sent you a PM with a bunch of links, and I mean a bunch. :scared1:

Thanks for doing this for us.

I see some of the other 2010 threads are more active than this one, we've got a lot of posting to do to keep up with them. :rotfl:

This is our first choice! We will probably transfer our dummy cruise we booked on the EB Repo to this one and just see how it goes. I figure book now and we can always cancel later!

Count us in for this one too - looks as tho' there may be a few of the repo gang on this one too

Be advised that the 1st Baltic cruise Disers are having a poll to decide their trip name and for obvious reasons their choices are very similar to ours :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 . I suggest that we should come up with some more names and then make a final descision. :thumbsup2

It would be a unique experience to be a majority nationality - I think we numbered 86 on the EB Repo this summer which was respectable, but I think just from this thread alone we must almost be at that.

Love both the images, but the viking boat gets my vote
