Give her time, we had a little problem here. It should be up momentarily.

I want to thank you Izzi for giving me a good reason for my 1000th post. Caro & I joined the DIS at the same time, but I guess I am not as loquacious as she is.

See men can be equally (well almost !!) chattylicious :lmao: :lmao:

Congrats on your milestone :woohoo: :woohoo:

crumpet.jpg
and crumpet info!

SEE crumpet and English muffin are NOTHING alike

Southampton is about an hour and 45 minutes from here on a good day...in the winter, when its raining, and most people have handed in their summer rental keys!! :lmao: :lmao: The problem is that when you get close, the highway ends and you have to merge into one lane of traffic going out east, and one lane coming back west- it is a true nightmare in the summer, and unless you have a private plane or helicopter (which many do) it could take up to 3 hours.
I live about 30 min from Manhattan- again, on a good day- The Hamptons are beautiful- my favorite is East Hampton- less glitz and more down to Earth with its old fashioned town and shops!!!

My cousin who now lives in NY used to own a resturant in The Hamptons somewhere :confused3 :confused3

Yea, we might as well do it, just in case..................what's everyone doing tonight.........it's dreary here too, we went for a bike ride this morning and got caught in chilly rain for 30 minutes!! I haven't ridden that fast in years!:rotfl:

We're trying to decide if we want to see Dennis Miller, anyone tried that?

I have a food question. I was watching one of my favorite cooking shows- Jamie Oliver:love:   ( I hope you can introduce me to him when I come there, by the way !!!) the recipe calls for a "crumb pit" ?? It looks like a muffin of some sort- maybe our version of what we call an English muffin, but the one on his show is not as flat as our english muffin- this was thicker and seemed softer than our muffin- any ideas!!!

Ok, you just gave me a really good laugh over 'crumb pit'. :lmao:
Sorry, but it made me laugh so.
Those English have a funny way of talking and their accents make it hard to understand them at times. :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :grouphug:

Yes, crumpets are available here. Whole Foods should carry them. The ones I buy come in a plastic sleeve, like the Lender's Bagels, and there are either 5 or 6 in a pack. I don't remember the brand since I usually get them in VA when we go down there.
They are very good with lemon curd on them. I usually put clotted cream on them too, but then I would put that on just about anything.

nite nite.........please keep an eye on the page count, Mike did a great job on getting all the 1st page details together a few posts back. If it gets really close will someone please start a new thread and turn the light off before you leave....if Julie doesn't do it I'll do it tomorrow morning when I get up :grouphug: :grouphug:

Izzi, do you really know Jamie Oliver  ? I really like him a lot.
I was able to see him in person when I went to a Martha Stewart show a couple of years ago.

Yes- i was laughing pretty hard too when I read Izzis post!! You should have seen me going back 3 times with my tivo trying figure out if he said crumpets or crumb pit... If my husband was here he would say I was having a "blond moment!!":rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Which is better than the senior moments i keep having more and more of!!
I love Whole Foods, not close to me though, but I will take a ride there. Thanks!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Small, small world.
Was that the same show that they gave out signed cookbooks by Gale Gand?

There are other stores that carry them, Whole Foods was the one that popped into my mind that I know is in NY. I don't have one near me and haven't been to one.
I haven't checked Trader Joe's for them, another store not near me, but that is a possibility as well. I don't know about Wild Oats, have only been to one of those up in Mass.

I've found them near the canned biscuits in the dairy section and sometimes you will find them frozen. Don't look in the bread section, you won't find them there.

A blonde moment is definately better than a senior moment. :upsidedow

Now you're asking too much of me- I cant remember what I ate for breakfast this morning!!I have been to her show 9 times, and I would go everyday if I didnt work and could get the tickets, which are a lot harder to get now. I love her to pieces- I dont care what her reputation is- she inspires me and I get so many great ideas from her. I have her first shows on old VHS tapes from about 18 years ago or more! My husband is a retired NYC police sgt- and I would drive him crazy when she was "in the big house"- I wanted hm to call his fellow officers to help me get in to visit her !! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I would have baked her a cake with a file in it!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You were all chatty chatty today!

Mike, nice job on the 1st page info you did. Thanks for offering to do it for us on our next thread!

Salliep, I also like Martha and Jamie Oliver.

Keegan's football team continued their undefeated streak with a 20 something to 0 win. They are now 12-0 and in the championship game next Saturday night under the lights. Should be an awesome game with lots and lots of people there.

Does anyone know Shirley from the Perfect Gift's shop hours? I tried calling today around 4 several times and it just rang. I've ordered baskets from her before and they turned out great. I wanted to order some for the boys and my friend's kids for next month's cruise. I couldn't find my friends room number and called DCL ---even though we are linked for dining, have check in/out priveledges for each other's kids (the agent could see that),she wouldn't give me her room number. I even had her whole family's birth dates and their 2 reservation numbers, which I gave the agent. I finally just asked my friend but didn't say why. I really wanted them to be surprised. In a way, I'm glad to hear DCL is very stringent with divulging the #.

I'm so glad we don't have anything we HAVE to do tomorrow. We'll probably go to church and Costco and have a laid back day. This week I have off Tuesday and the boys have off Thursday and Friday. They have 3 birthday parties to attend in the next week. Keegan wanted to know why so many kids in his class have November birthdays. I counted back 9 months and figured February/Valentine's Day must have been a good month that year for people! Of course I never mentioned that to my son!

Don't worry, I will do it when we get to 249, but no sooner, because that just gets confusing -- which is the real thread???:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: But I will be watching out and will start the new one with sufficient time, no worries. We don't want this to be a "lame duck" thread before its time right?:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: (I wonder if our Brit friends are familiar with that term???)

Great pics.
How did you get front row on the floor?
We were there when she had people from Imperial Vodka visiting. They were from Russia. We were hoping for some samples, but were disappointed that we didn't get any.
