Will they consider Sunday morning a 'peak' time? I found last summer there were less trains/buses on Sunday morning than the rest of the week.

Sunday is definitely off peak & subject to engineering work which can mean an alternative bus route between certain stations or a reroute via somewhere else!

Celestine

Since this cruise leaves on Sunday, this is an even better reason for leaving earlier in the morning or getting transportation that you and your DH are going to arrange. We are so grateful for the 2 of you doing this for us. :worship: :worship: :worship:

You have been answered, peak services are Monday to Friday 7am>9am and 4.30pm>7pm. Other times on weekdays and all weekends is considered off peak.
However even with that there are changes on services, more during the day than late at night.

Summer timetable will be out in May, worth checking and booking then as advance tickets tend to be cheaper than on the day.

Robert...oh Robert.....I just remembered something from this time last year.....did you put out your yard H'ween decorations this year?

Yes of course silly!:thumbsup2

OK, as it is November 1, here is the list of those taking part in the Fish Extender. Unless anyone has serious objections, I suggest it be 1 gift/stateroom. It is about taking part, not "outdoing" others, but i'm sure that caveat is unnecessary with this group. Last date for joining is: Wednesday June 30.

Julie - can you add this info to the first post?

If anyone else wishes to join, please post, or PM

Thanks for doing this and I may join in once we get into full planning mode for the cruise. As long as we have the 'rules' put out there in advance and the majority of us are in the same boat (ok, same plane) for luggage restrictions we should all be fine with it.

But I'm definately up for the postcard exchange. Can we add that to the first post as well Julie?
Andrew we'll let you know how many postcards you need so you don't run short again. :thumbsup2 :upsidedow

Its bad when you have to do that, we had loads last night, it never used to be like this when I was younger. I think it was the film, ET, that showed USA Trick and treating and introduced it to the UK. Its then picked up momentum.

A personal observation, I have noticed over the years, less and less people dressing up, the men in particular, far less wearing a tux, I didn't bother in August and was pleased, in fact felt slightly overdressed in my business suit.

In the Med 07, it was very relaxed, in fact in Palo for Dinner as soon as I arrived ,I was 'told' to take the jacket off. With luggage restrictions, I predict this cruise, will be more relaxed, and people saving space for Viking gear!
Is is official? Are we having a viking party??

Is is official? Are we having a viking party??

I'm going to say it's not official since the shore excursions aren't even listed yet. But it would be so much nicer than having the Pirates on the cruise, heck not having a deck party would be much nicer than the Pirates.
I'm so over the Pirates now.

I do enjoy Pirates, but I am game for something new too!

Yes please do, as we did run out of London ones very quickly. Ty to get Olympic ones.

I am in the process of trying to confirm.

Even if it was just pirates I can foresee a lot of vikings as well, but I think considering we have Captain Tom, and his homeland, its very likely.

It would make it more fun.

Will post when I get some clarification.

Pics...?!?
Nope!

I might be willing to do postcards!

How about a Blitzed in Lenongrad party!;):lmao:

I'm in for postcards, even though my town itself doesn't have any. I'm an hour away from San Diego, I could do that, or stick to the Temecula wineries, Madison does live in Temecula!;)

Having flown 'the other way' across the Atlantic, and taken a family of fours luggage across the sea, airports, transfers, hire cars etc, the practicalities of trying to jettison, anything, that is not needed.

Cruising, means extra clothes, Formal, semi formal, and Pirate (AKA Viking ) deck parties. Then you pick up all the souvenirs, thoose pirate light up glasses, Don Ducky Williams lithographs etc.

Just being practical, you have to try to pack light, but now airlines sting you for additional fees if you are over, or just over, and thoose fees are horrendous. In the last few years for example I would hire a tux, to avoid carrying it, last cruise I purchased a simple and light suite, that I could use on formal, semi formal and Palo.

For once I do not have to worry too much, but the constraint is my own car size and what I can fit in my own boot, (trunk).

It is something that should be considered.

I like to pack light, even if there isn't a restriction, and I don't mind doing laundry and I plan my wardrobe carefully- but a two week cruise does pose different "problems"-(I like these kind of problems!) I'm guessing we'll have 3 formal nights?

I normally fly Lufthansa going to Frankfurt; they're much more lax about pieces and weight I've found. I don't get to England much- and I know USAir has decent prices to London, so even if I had to pay for an extra bag, I'd rather do that, then not buy a treasure, or do without something important- I want to pack light, but not get silly about it and end up not properly dressed! But that said, I will limit myself to 2 checked bags- I don't think I could do 2+ weeks in one!

Added!

But I'm definately up for the postcard exchange. Can we add that to the first post as well Julie?

Are you in charge of this, Barb? If so, tell me what information you want posted and I will do it . . . I'm just not sure what the postcard exchange is at this point in order to add it!:goodvibes

Stick with winery postcards since Madison lives there. But it would be so much better if you brought the wineries with you. :rotfl2:  :drinking1

We do 2 checked bags for the 3 of us for the last Baltics cruise that was 12 days. And that was even carrying a 4 pound container of jelly beans and a big Hershey's syrup bottle in the checked bags. That freed up a lot of space to bring things home - we take those 2 things to our friends whenever we see them. You could do it if you absolutely had to.
We then pack an empty one inside on the bigger ones so that gives us our 3rd checked bag to come home with.

I would think they would keep it as 1 formal and 1 semi-formal night since it's a rather port intensive cruise. Remember we have an overnight in StP and a late departure from StP and Warnemunde so that cuts out 3 nights of rotational dining, leaving only 9 rotational nights. I definately can't see them having 3 of them formal/semi-formal.
DH won't take a suit, he'll take dress pants and nice shirts for dinner and that way he won't have to take dress shoes. This is where we start to cut down on clothes and needing less luggage.

Sure I'll take charge of the postcard exchange. Not sure how to go about it yet, so I'm open for suggestions. But for now I'll just take names and we'll go with the same cut-off date for the FE list and when we get a final total I'll let everyone know how many postcards to bring from their hometown.

Ok, I'm thoroughly impressed on your packing and makes me realize I need to redefine what I think is "light" packing! I'm sure I could whittle more out of my packing list if I try!

The longest cruise I've been on before this one was only 7 nights, and never one that had an over night stop anywhere....I'm realizing more and more what I have to learn about this trip with being a DCL newbie!:teacher:
