Andrew when checking the cruise with 2 or 3 people you will also see availability for cat. 6 and 7. It does appear that all verandah cabins that sleep 4 are filled, for the moment. Just wonder how much this will change by March 20th when full pay't is due?

I'm talking the helm in organizing the hometown postcard exchange. Bring postcards to give to the group from your hometown or state or country to give to each family in the group.

Hometown Postcard Exchange (contact jilljill to be added)
Bring enough postcards from your hometown to pass out and share with other Ballyhoo'ers.

Yes, but considering is Feb tomorrow, and that therefore is just over a month, you would think people would be having those conversations now, looking at air fare, seeing the Bank balance.

I wouldn't have thought there would be a flood of cancellations last minute, moreover a few transferring to other cruises as we go along. The high percentage of booking on verandahs would indicate, people of financial strength booking, so less likely to cancel.

The interesting thing is this thread is far less active than others the first Baltic one whilst a thread behind has recently taken off.

We either have a lot of lurkers, or a lot of Europeans on this cruise who do not post.

As well as Newspaper adverts for the Med and English repos, we now have competitions to win a DCL cruise on those dates, but the Baltic has never been advertised. Which also imply sales have held up, and DCL are happy GTY will cover those who move.

I'm wondering if people will be waiting until they file their income taxes to see if they will be getting refunds to cover at least some of the cost of the cruise and airfare. So while conversations may have started, until their taxes are prepared they have to wait and see what the bottom line will be.

I'm also thinking the final pay't for the first Baltics cruise is probably in a couple of days, so it stands to reason that thread is taking off now.

Yes, wasn't aware of your 'tax rebates' our tax year ends on April 5th, and if you were lucky to get a rebate, (IE have a very good accountant), you would get it back a few months after that.

Whilst these are expensive, I do not think we will see a high drop out, there are only the four, its not as if you can move it to 2011, no repeat, so its now or, after 2011. Not like Caribbean or Alaska when you can say, we will postpone to next year.

We shall see on the first Baltic, but one thread on the main forum about Baltic PIF, had little posts bar the OP, bumping it. So wasn't a lot of take up on that.

I think people think Expensive=High drop out, I think those who booked this are financially sound, ie high take up of verandahs, and cost actually isn't too much of an issue.

Our tax year is for the calendar year. The last of the forms necessary for filing taxes should be rec'd in the mail this week. Many people have been able to start filing their taxes if they have the necessary papers already. Taxes need to be filed by April 15th so there's time, but usually people that have an idea they are getting rebates will file early.
I need to get our paperwork together and get our's filed so our rebate can be in the bank quickly.
