I emailed them Friday and still haven't heard back yet:headache:
Guess I'll have DH call in the morning:confused3

I like eating early at 6:00 usually, but I was worried we would be rushed getting from the London Eye to Porters, so I asked for 6:30.

If we ever get our dinner reservation we'll have quite the Dis meet there:thumbsup2

So glad we'll be doing the cruise and Eye together:woohoo::woohoo:

That's great Laurie! The eye is about a 30 min flight and Porter's is a short walk so we figured that 6PM should be OK even if the flight (on/off) takes 45 min. They probably shuffle you on and off quickly.

My aunt's dedication was so nice and we had a great time

We started out opening the suite that the Alumni Assoc will use

104_3177.JPG

Then off to a private brunch with guests and OSU staff including Archie Griffin

104_3185.JPG

104_3187.JPG

We had a private tour of the whole building they have lots of separate rooms for just about everything

Then back for the evening dinner in the new ballroom, which will seat over 2,000 - there were 2,000 for the dinner

104_3222.JPG

As we were leaving Sunday, Kara just had to get this being the 'band geek' that she is

104_3241.JPG

Brutis dotting the "i" and that is one of the offical marching band uniforms of the TBDBITL

Kara was chatting with Archie at dinner and he was teasing her about cleaning up real nice etc, she mentioned that she saw one of his trophies on display and such and he said well I just happened to have an extra one laying around

We were waiting in the lobby waiting for our tour that morning and Kara whispered to me, mom , they have a problem, I was like what, she was pointing to the emergency defiblator box and there was no defiblator in it - then she bumped into the vice president of the Alumni Association and mentioned it to him - he had her walk over to where it wasn't - she said he was 'blushing' a bit about it and felt bad, then she ended up sitting next to him at dinner

:)

:wave2: Good Morning All :wave2:

MORNING!!!!

I am getting so excited, especially now with the Magic on her way to Europe! I am sure alot of us booked in mid 2008, so the short amount of time we have left is super exciting! :)

I have so much planning left to do, and honestly, you guys with your DINNER reservations already made in London are FREAKING ME OUT!!!!:eek:

Clearly, I am way behind and I have to book for 7 of us!

But no worries, we are good at winging it! We will get to London via the "Chunnel" on Friday at 1:00. (I did already book that) We are staying in the Tower Hill area. (Booked that too)

So, those of you who booked the London eye/cruise/dinner combo. Can you give me more details? I think we may do that Friday night.

Also, where/when do you do the changing of the guards?

I know there are so many things to see, we want to do the Tower of London, cruise the River, and ride the top of the big red bus...that is the extent of my knowledge. So, for you who like to help, what should I do...keeping in mind I have teens and tween and a 5 year old. :)

Dont worry as I have not booked much more than london hotel & transport as well & will not really start planning untill I get back from WDW!

Here are some links for you to paruse!

Welcome back Barb how was WDW?popcorn::

Oh & :goodvibesGood Morning All:goodvibes

It was crowded as expected for Easter week, but the weather was perfect so it helped with the crowds. Flower & Garden was pretty as always, and the Rose & Crown Pub was still there and the drinks still good. :lmao: :drinking1 :thumbsup2

For those asking about Tallinn, I've posted this link in the first post but I'll add it here as well: http://www.brentjes.com/tallinnwalk.html
It's a great self-guided walking tour with descriptions and tons of pics. We didn't use it last time since I was nursing a bum foot in a couple of ports, but several people on our cruise used it as a guide and said it was a great guide.

Great pics Marla, sounds like you all had a great time at the dedication weekend.

We walked to Porter's from the Eye and it took us about 15 minutes and we had 4 kids with us.

Finally heard back and we are down for 6:15/6:30 for dinner at Porters:woohoo:

I'm thinking the guy at Porters is going "these crazy Americans, why are they bothering us 3 months in advance":rotfl:
I just hate wasting time waiting for a table on a Friday or Saturday night-especially first time in London for me. Plus the exchange rate is good for us right now.
I knew what I wanted to do on Friday so wanted to get that done. The hard part is trying to cram all that we want into Saturday in London:confused3
My DH and kids are very much interested in the history-just no interest in the planning.
If they don't help me decide soon I'll just be making the decisions by myself:rolleyes1
I think as long as you have your hotel you are not way behind.
Finding the hotel in or near London can be hard especially for a big family.

It was crowded as expected for Easter week, but the weather was perfect so it helped with the crowds. Flower & Garden was pretty as always, and the Rose & Crown Pub was still there and the drinks still good. :lmao: :drinking1 :thumbsup2
Sounds great:thumbsup2
Glad you had good weather.

Now, to work or peruse travel websites... ;)

Thank you!
:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Ohh, looks good:cool1:
I was thinking of something like that...if my DH's bum leg holds up.

Well I just finished my London Eye/cruise/Porter's reservation. :cool1: We shall see what they come back with as far as flight time, cruise time etc. I asked in the special instructions box if they could deduct the cost of 1 person not wanting to do the London Eye,:worried: so we'll see if they can accommodate that request. The menu at Porter's looks interesting. What I like about the excursion is that it is just a short walk from the Park Plaza Westminster hotel (or so I'm led to believe). Anyway, it should be a nice way to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary.:cheer2: :cloud9:

Got my DH to give his 2 cents worth on the Stockholm options so we can be ready to book this weekend.:banana:

Sandy

OK, how did you all get through to the London Eye? We've tried a zillion times and can't get through! I sent an email to them through the web site and got this automated respons:
We are currently receiving a high volume of emails. If you have anurgent enquiry or wish to ask a question about your booking, please call0871 781 3000 between 9am and 5pm.
At least that is a different phone number! :furious:

Carolyn,

I didn't talk to anybody or try calling. I just did the online booking request from the link for Porter's/London Eye package. :surfweb: I have received confirmation that they got my booking request, but I know there's more I need to do once I receive my "official" receipt from them. If you have your flight times and cruise time you are 2 steps ahead of me :thumbsup2

Sandy

This is our second trip to London. The first time we scheduled every minute, this time we are going to not plan anything and do whatever we feel like doing!

Good Morning back at yah!.
I just got off the phone with the London Eye and Porter's so we are all set up for July 16th as well. 3:45PM cruise and 5PM flight, 6:30Pm dinner at Porters with a souvenir cookbook to start the trip off with :woohoo:

Still getting prepared for the bewitching hour this Saturday night/Sunday morning when we can book our excursions. :dance3::dance3: The DH and I were talking last night about StP and wondered.... if everybody needs a visa of some sort to get off the ship, what do the DCL crew members do? You know how crew always goes into town to stock up and make phone calls etc., so we were wondering how or if they're allowed to go ashore. :rolleyes2

We are hoping to go and visit relatives that live by the southwest coast of Britain on Saturday. Need to get in touch with them and see if that will work out for them. :goodvibes If not, then I'll have to figure out a plan for Saturday.

Have a great day!

Sandy
