We're sitting in our room at Disney's Grand Californian! We surprised the girls with a trip down here for the weekend. We were in DCA this morning and it wasn't too busy! Haven't been over to Disneyland yet. We used Developer points for our room and have our Annual Passes, so we're good to go!

Oh very nice stayed there a few times! Like the back door entrance to the DCA park. Good for Toy story ride.

WELCOME:thumbsup2

And you have chosen a great DCL cruise for your first one.

Most of the people here are mad ( well the rest are as well but they wouldnt admit to it) But dont let that put you off, they all know quite a bit about cruising.

Thank you for the welcome and mad people don't scare me! This is one of my favorite quotes: “Sanity and happiness are an impossible combination” (said by Mark Twain) I'd much rather be happy floating on the ocean (or a sea as this cruise is) then to be sane on terra firma!:thumbsup2

Derek, I believe that is "whom"!!!! :rolleyes1 "I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy . . ."

Welcome aboard. And oh yes, you'll fit right in with the rest of us zanies here!
Hi there- I hope I'm not "gate crashing" but I'm new to this forum; I'm booked on the 7/18/10 Baltic cruise, and I wanted to say HI!

I've been to Disney World several times over the years, but this is the first Disney Cruise I'll have taken. I'm going with a good friend and her sister who are veteran Disney Cruisers.

I also wanted to say thank you to everyone for the great information I've been reading here- especially all the travel links in the first post- a wealth of info!

I can not wait for this trip- I wish it were this July!

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hey Mike, pop in here a little more often so you can welcome the newbies a little sooner. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :dance3:

Guess where we are right now????? :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Have a great weekend. Love the location and love the back entrance into CA.

Went to Epcot and the Studios this afternoon and neither of them were too busy either. Went to DTD tonight and that was a whole different story. If it hadn't been too hot we would have just sat and people watched for a while, but there was no air moving and we weren't sitting without the air moving. Saw many 'interesting' sights, to say the least. :confused3

:goodvibes Good Morning All:goodvibes
Up with the Rebels down with the Brits!

Good Morning and Happy 4th of July to everyone!!!

It's been months since I have been online to check out the posts. Anything important? I checked the cruises to see if the rates have gone down at all, no such luck, maybe if the economy still sucks and the boat is not full they will drop prices. Last Europe Disney cruise in 07, we practically got on for free. That would be a miracle to happen again. Now that it is 7/09 I am starting to think about and get excited for the cruise, too hard to get excited 2 years in waiting or however long it was. I am very interested in the Dover to Barcelona cruise after our cruise, how convenient is that? I would love to revisit Barcelona. I just don't think there is any way I would be able to convince my husband. Anyone else doing the Dover to Barcelona?

Thanks for any important information that I might have missed.
Kay

Thank you all again for the warm welcomes, and Happy Independence Day to everyone on this side of the pond!

I do have a few questions that maybe you guys could help with:

What would you recommended as a "not to be missed" thing to do on board ship? A certain restaurant, or a show for example?

I've been to Norway, Germany & England before, but none of the other countries- I'm especially interested in Estonia & Russia- Does anyone have any tips for must sees or travel tips for those countries?

I've looked into getting a individual visa for Russia and it's a pain- so that is one place I figured I'd do a cruise sponsored excursion....has anyone ever traveled there on their own?

Thank you all so much!
Leslie

We did a Baltics cruise last summer and are really looking forward to going back to Tallinn and StP. If you want to find lots of info on those 2 countries I recommend you go over to the cruisecritic European boards to find lots of info there. That's where I did all my research for our cruise last year.

StP is not the place to venture on your own unless you know the language or someone there. There are other options besides doing a cruise sponsored tour there, like getting a private guide and touring on your own. We did a tour with 2 other families that were on our cruise and we saw so much more than the ship sponsored tours and we saved almost $600. by going with a private guide. We will be doing that again next year.
My must sees for StP would be the big name places: Catherine's Palace, Yusupov's Palace, The Church of the Savior on the Spilt Bood, St Isaac's Cathedral. We are glad we made a whirlwind pass thru The Hermitage but wouldn't do it again in the summer, way too crowded and it's good to be on a private tour when going there.

Tallinn is a very easy town to tour on your own and is easy to walk around.

I really have to get more of my pics posted, but that will have to wait until I go back north since my pics are all at home. But there is a link in the 1st post to some of my pics.

The Baltic cruises have sold out very well, in fact with only 4 and prices sky high they have done very well ocnsidering is still a year away. Now people might cancel as pay in full day gets close but I do not expect many discounts.

There is just too much to say thats not to be missed, the evening meals (dinner) the shows, and Palo, most likly are the top three. best read up on a good book like passporter or the main cruise forum, and take an 'average' of the responses as there are a few 'whacky' posts

Really? It doesn't look completely booked to me.
I was able to to a pretend booking.

They aren't fully booked but they are selling very well compared to the rest of the year, with some cats. in GTY status only. The cat. 4's have been sold out for some time and the suites were grabbed up the day bookings opened with mile long waitlists, especially for the cat. 1 & 2's.

Yes should say ''very full'' lots gone to GTY, there will not be discounts on this one, unless loads cancel. And I guess they are overbooking on GTY to cover that.

I just did a pretend booking for 5, not cat. 4's available. For 4, only cat. 5, 9, 10, & 11 available. For 2 or 3, cat. 5-11 is available. Not sure how many of each cabin is available tho, didn't go thru the entire booking process to find out.
