Tell me about it! So you're sailing one month after us, just like Tortola!:goodvibes

Let's try to meet again in December in NYC!:banana:Thx again for organizing the Helen and Dave this summer, that was special!

Short version, my father was contacted by a woman a year ago in June, it turns out, she is his sister but was adopted by another family (his parents were divorced at the time) and is 15 years younger than him. She has no children and lives in Oregon. We met her this June. She to loves to travel, especially on cruises and suggested that we book the Wonder to Alaska so she could join us. So now I'm trying to put this trip together and get parents to go as well, we'll see!

How's the back to school going, Julie? Has your DD been applying to schools? Keep me posted!!:surfweb:

Wow, that is quite a story!:rolleyes1 Let's hope this trip turns out well for you because it could get weird;)

Yes, let's definitely get together again in December - let's see if Maryann and Sallie and families can come, and you too of course Barb . . .

The college process is in the heat of things for my oldest, but she has let me know that she owns the process and doesn't want me talking about it to others, so my lips are sealed!:)

Send my reguards on, should be a nice cruise.

I priced up my 2011 Med cruise online, for a CAT 4, and my Cat 3 is reasonable agianst that, quite pleased.

I will pass on your regards . . . so far it seems like a really nice group, with some people I know from the transAtlantic, the PC, and the New Year's Eve cruises I have taken in the last few years . . . and some one in the Walt suite!

We are absolutely in for December's DisMinimeet!!!!.

Ugh, the college process..... Good luck with this Julie. :headache::hug:

OK Julie - I won't ask but keep notes on how you coped with it as I will be gong that route next year. Better yet, can you keep a notebook and then just send it to me on how not to go ?

We will have to plan some time for just the two of us on the cruise next summer and I can unload:laughing::laughing:

Hey Guys,

I thought some of you might enjoy this picture. I'm planning to make a tee-shirt out of it, but it would make a neat door magnet as well. Thanks to Jordak who made the original design.

Laura you can then send it onto me since DD is a soph. this year and we get to go thru this the year after you. But she's leaning towards a couple of colleges near WDW, but needs to find a good one for early childhood education.
She's excited since Tuesday is the first day of preschool at her high school and the 10th graders will get them their last ½ hour each Tues, Wed, and Thurs. She goes to a vo-tech school and is taking early childhood education and they have a preschool with 20 3-4 year olds. It will be a great learning experience for her and she's working towards her goal of being a counselor on DCL ships.

Keep me posted and hopefully we will be in town for it. We are going to WDW for DH's b'day the weekend of 12/11 and still haven't decided about when/if we are going down over Christmas break.

We'll try to get a day when most people can get together . . . fingers crossed:wizard:

Finally, see I should never stray far from the DIS, JoAnn, did your girls already know what they wanted to go to college for or where? April is in her Jr year and while she has no idea what she wants to do she has decided she wants to stay "close" by (meaning in CA). I went out and bought what feels like all those books about "371 Best Colleges", 2010 List of Colleges, and th best one of all - 910 College Majors.

While she has not decided what, she has eliminated some and is leaning to psychology or criminalogy or sometime like that. I suggested she declare undecided but would like to help her make a decision. (My other two never included me so this is like my first time going through this.) Its heart wrecking. LOL I'm just glad its her and not me. Have you seen the list of requirement now? YIKES. So far, she has been leaning towards UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara (Mom doesn't like that - high rate of partying and alchohol according to the Princeton Review) and Stanford. Mom of course is pushing Loyola Marymount. Dragging her to LMU open house on 10/26 hoping she'll fall in love with it. We shall see.

Any suggestions you recommend on how to encourage or support her? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Laura, most of my girls didn't know what they wanted to "be" when they applied. I learned with my oldest that sometimes "undecided" helps them get in because colleges actually want students in this category so they can be added into majors later which are not full, or which others drop out of......also, the visits are an essential part of the process....my girls definitely changed their minds or made their minds after visits.......it's always tough, hang in there!!

Let's decide soon, so we can work around the date, the earlier the better for us in December.......

Let's decide soon, so we can work around the date, the earlier the better for us in December.......

The first weekend in December, it is possible that I may be out of town and I wouldn't know for sure until the middle of November . . . I could do the next two weekends (although I know the second weekend is bad for Barb and the next one may get close to Christmas) or I could do Thanksgiving weekend if we want to go that way, too.

As of now the only weekend in Dec. that I know that would be good is the first weekend (which is bad for Julie) and both weekends around T'giving are out since we will be in FL. So please make plans and if we can work them in or if we will be home we'll plan on meeting you if not we'll have to do it again next year.
Don't let our plans hold up everyone else's plans.

Well I booked us on the 3 day 1/14/10 cruise. Got the same cabin we will be in on this cruise and on the Alaskan cruise. I thought it would be easier to remember our cabin this way :rotfl: .

You will find it on auto pilot!

My Mrs usually takes the whole 7 night cruise to find our room herself, the Panamas are good as she has the second week!:goodvibes but with the same for 12 and 11 nights hope she will be ok, in finding the room. Plus its dead on the Midship elevators.

I asked DD if she wanted deck 6 or 7 for this cruise, and she looked at me like I was totally bonkers for asking her and she said, "deck 7, duh, it's closer to the ice cream". Silly me...what was I thinking?!? :headache:

And my son Stephen asked for the arcade, and we are directly below it. Being close to cove cafe also has advantages.

:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc it! May we use it if need be?

Will do! :rotfl: See Julie, you'll be helping out two very stressed out mother.

Also

Am debating on booking a cruise for the 1st weeked in December. Heard tell that the rates are really cheap just before the season changes to high.

Thanks JoAnn. I didn't realize that. Did hear a girl on a video say something that it worked out better for her to declare undecided but she didn't say why. Now I can pass this on to April. Thanks a million.

(Read in DRY TONE)

Yes, Parents,

Please remember who you are booking these for. If we could remember that, we'd be so much better off.
;)

(I'm just as guilty, all along I thought I was booking these for me. :rotfl2:)
