WOW I'm really impressed and good for you. Does it entail lots of work in order to take the certification ? What kind of job would you be looking for ? and how long have you been doing your current job ??

Lots of questions .... sorry

My pleasure:) , I've been teaching 4th grade for 6 years; "Special" education for about 6 years before that; if I add Math certification and go Middle school, I think I could get hired and possibly do both Math and Special ed. I have about 20 years to go with this, so I might want to switch things up.

How about you?

I worked late (again !!) and then took Josh swimming. He is still only doing 30 mins but today he really worked hard and pushed it so things are looking up :thumbsup2

Are you going to be able to watch the inaguration tomorrow ?

So when you say "add Math certification" does that mean that at the moment you can't teach maths ? or does it mean that would then be able to specialise in it ??

It would mean that I would now be able to teach Algebra I and maybe II to middle schoolers and PreAlgebra. I could also teach fundamental classes to weaker students. I can currently only teach elementary math.

The middle school job has better technology, better hours and maybe a happier work place (long story, I know we all have them.):sad2:

Well, it sounds like you've been doing that work late thing a lot lately (is it b/c of the layoffs?)So Josh is improving? That's good news!:cheer2:

I don't think we will watch the Inauguration but we really should. Now that you mention it, it's a shame noone thought to put together a large screen showing like they've done for other big events.

Working late seems to have become the "norm" lately. Ever since the team of four I was in became the theam of 1 (me) and the workload remaind the same   Still I guess as I took it on without complaint and therefore have shown flexibilty, comittment and have "risen to the challange" that's why I'm still in a job so I do have to be grateful :thumbsup2

Josh is certainly getting better. He now only wears the brace for school and takes it off as soon as he gets home and doesn't wear it at all at the weekend. After the half term break he'll only wear it for school on Mon, Wed and Frid and if that goes ok then after the Easter break he'll not have to wear it at all :cheer2: :cheer2: There'll be no Phys. Ed this school year but he'll hopefully be able to gradually increase the swimming till he's back to full training sessions by the summer.

At my girls' (private) school, there will be a live large screen showing the inauguration to the entire school tomorrow from 11:30 - 1:30 . . . they announced it last Friday. I'm really happy they will be able to experience it live.

That is a really good idea.........I haven't heard anything, maybe someone will think of it tomorrow. My principal will be out all week, okay, I'll email someone right now and see what I can do.

Our School District wants all parents to sign a permission slip to allow their students to watch. Kathryn's teacher is going to tape it to replay on a bigger screen.

Thank you for asking.......I've decided to revamp my career and I registered for a certification test in Middle School Math. I've decided to increase my marketablity and possible seek a job change this summer. How's that for productive?

Good for you JoAnn!!! I always envy math people :worship:. It comes so easy to you. Sometimes you just need a change. About 4 years ago I went into the High School and I love it. I still teach a few middle school classes but I love the variety. :cheer2:

Night, Iz........anyone notice where we are in the post counts.........when will we hit the 1000 post? Tonight, tomorrow???pirate:

I think we are CHATTILICIOUS (sp??) enough to make 1000 by morning even with Queen Chattilicious gone to bed.

Thanks for the encouragement. I've registered for the certification test, bought the book and emailed a colleague who did it a few years ago.....here goes nothing!:confused3

Ok, I emailed the librarian. Let's see what she says!

Yes, we might be able to do it, if everyone chips in (and Izzi's light is STILL on):thumbsup2

I was sort of hoping to goad her into chatting a bit longer. It does not look like she took the bait.

Maybe she feel asleep at the keyboard :faint:
