However I can relate to cleaning up the mess after my tenants drag them out after New Years! You have to clean the hallways almost daily the first 2 weeks in January!

Then there was one guy who didnt take his tree out untill February it was like it snowed Pine needles!

The needles are the reason I don't like having a real tree, they are a HUGE mess for months.
Couldn't imagine having to clean hallways for weeks to get rid of them.

I have always had a real christmas tree, never any way else. I remember when we lived in Massachusetts going out in the forest and cutting one down. Andrew grew up with a fake one. This is the first year we are going to have a fake one. I'm slowly getting all right with the idea. Since we are leaving for WDW the day after Christmas (evening flight), I didn't want to be busy packing AND taking the tree down that day. It's important to me to have a tree and VERY important to Kathryn. So fake it will be this year. I don't know if we'll keep having a fake one every year, we'll see. I'm slowly warming up to the idea.
Last year we were in California for Christmas. My Mom had passed away in October, so we were down at Christmas cleaning her condo out. Kathryn was very concerned about not having a tree and we were all getting used to my mom being gone. We drove out to my in-laws house Christmas day and spent a few days with them. We made sure they had their tree up!

I actually have a really high ceiling in my living room, too, but the year we bought the "high" tree was a disaster (it fell over and broke ALOT of ornaments) so since then, we've given up on that and now we just get a normal tree (but I can certainly understand the bungee cord idea.)

That's why we had to get a new tree, the old one was starting to fall apart and lean way over. I have too many good ornaments to risk the tree falling over, which is the reason for the board for us.

Arm and leg hair covered in sap . . . just put a piece of muslin cloth over that and you had a perfect -- and free! -- waxing experience all set up for you . . . I can't believe you didn't enjoy that summer

Not only was it a free wax job, he was getting paid for it. I'm sure he doesn't think he was sorry he missed it tho.

Hi All,

Just checking in. All this talk of Christmas trees and I just bought my turkey today!!!!!

We do the artificial tree now. I like to decorate right after Thanksgiving so the real tree gets a little "tired" looking by Christmas. It is right in front of a heater so it gets too dry. We bought a beautiful artificial tree and I light Christmas tree candle scents around (I love "tree" by Bath and Body works) but you all are right, there is nothing as wonderful as a real tree.

Just checking in. All this talk of Christmas trees and I just bought my turkey today!!!!!

We do the artificial tree now. I like to decorate right after Thanksgiving so the real tree gets a little "tired" looking by Christmas. It is right in front of a heater so it gets too dry. We bought a beautiful artificial tree and I light Christmas tree candle scents around (I love "tree" by Bath and Body works) but you all are right, there is nothing as wonderful as a real tree.

My new avatar is The Little Mermaid Statue in Copenhagen. It was located about a 5 minute walk from where our ship was docked at Langolinie Pier.

Ok all you folks on the west side of the pond ...... what are your plans for Black Friday ??? Anyone got their eye on something special ??

Well I have to work. Even though most of the freight we load will not move until Monday, we need to bill off the stores or Monday would overload the system. The Monday after Black Friday is one of the worst days for us at the DC anyway due to the Direct-to-Consumer Orders the come in over the weekend.

I'll be sleeping in and starting to think about decorating. After working retail and working a few Black Friday's the last thing I want to do is fight the crowds and mayhem that ensues.
When DD was little I used to get up very early and do the Toys R Us trip for the good deals, but those days are long gone.
I'm thinking of heading up to NY to do some shopping on Wednesday, just haven't approached DH with that idea yet. He'll get home from work about 6:45am and then he can sleep on the way up while I drive. We'll have to see how that idea goes over with him.
