OMG PEOPLE HOW BIG ARE YOUR TREES ?? :scared1: :scared1: Bungees and boards ??? A big tree here in the UK is 7ft

Our tree is only 7 1/2 feet, but with 3 kids and a 110 lb dog, we bungee cord it to some hooks anchored in the wall. Our old tree fell over with myself and DD under it a couple years ago. Thankfully, I was under it because it kept it from hurting Hailey or smashing more than a couple ornaments.

I know, if we aren't worrying about the size of the TVs, we have to worry about the size of the trees . . .:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We buy a live tree every year (no space to store an artificial one every year anyway in an apartment in Manhattan!), around 9 feet tall. We'll get on that next weekend after we see Santa at the end of the Macy's thanksgiving day parade . . .

Between the allergies and the flashbacks to working on a Christmas tree farm in the summer, I can't bear a live tree in our house, but to be honest, I really love the look and smell of them. (They just don't like me!)

I've always had a real tree and can't imagine not . . . but I know that in most parts of the country, people just don't have live ones . . . all the trees used in NYC are recycled at the end of the season and are turned into mulch which is used in Central Park . . . so when we see all the daffodils blooming in the spring it is nice to know that our tired old trees helped it happen!

I was telling Paul about the "size of TV" story today as we were shopping in Tescos looking for a 2nd TV for the playroom. He thought it was hysterical I though he was having a fit he was laughing so hard :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

We decided were going to put up our decorations the weekend of 7th Dec 3weeks is enough :)

Glad he wasn't worried that Jimmy's was bigger:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

My birthday is Dec. 9, so when I was growing up we always decorated for Christmas on the 10th (so that I wouldn't feel I didn't get a birthday celebration because it was already the Christmas season) but now I like having everything decorated earlier . . . and birthdays are definitely not a big deal once you've grown up;)

Somehow I'm seeing Mike covered in little tiny pinprick spots of dried blood from all the needle injuries . . . not to mention having his extremities stuck together by the sap . . .:rotfl:

I like having the decorations up but I get fed up with them after a while also Ethan is already getting a bit hyper about it all so not putting the decorations up for another 2 weeks will help keep a lid on that for a bit

OMG extremities stuck together reminds me of a post I read on the community board a couple of days ago. A real girly only story about waxing :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Julie has at least part of the picture. The other thing to realize is that the Christmas trees need to be trimmed so that they grow into a nice Christmas tree shape, and that needs to be in the summer. When you're trimming the tree, you need to wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt so your entire body (including arm and leg hair!:scared1: ) doesn't get covered in sap. Couple that with hallucinations in the record breaking 100+ degree heat that summer, and you can imagine why I stay far away from live Christmas trees now.

Arm and leg hair covered in sap . . . just put a piece of muslin cloth over that and you had a perfect -- and free! -- waxing experience all set up for you . . . I can't believe you didn't enjoy that summer:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hello Robert .... haven't caught up with you in a few days, how are you ?

Things are going pretty good! Kids keepin me busy as usual.

My business is strong so I have to be happy, what with the state of the world right now:goodvibes , fuel oil is down which is good with winter coming fast, unseasonably cold in Boston for November Teens & Twenties at night not really warming much beyond mid thirties during the day!

:worship: I am ready to retire to warmer climates! pirate: A nice trawler yacht would be nice summers in the Med winter in the Carribeanpirate: !:cloud9: :wizard:

Just what to do with all the kids?

& how are you Izzie?

Good afternoon Ballyhooer's! (At least it's afternoon here on the East coast.)

We're working on some of our Christmas decorations this weekend. We rearrange the furniture a bit, so we got that done and the main tree is up in the corner and bungee corded to the wall. We won't decorate it or do our outside decorations until next weekend though. We're doing some of the swags and curtain toppers, but the big time consumer this weekend will be hot gluing a gazillion snowflakes to the living room and dining room ceilings.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

:worship: :worship: :worship: Well, that's impressive! I've just done some shopping and wrapping...........not quite ready for decorating yet!!:rolleyes1

Too funny that you have to bungee cord your tree to the wall. We have to put our's on a board so it's stable on the carpet - we don't want the 15' tree crashing down.
We'll probably work on rearranging the furniture this week as well and get the tree up next weekend. Can't get it thru my head to put it up before Turkey Day. Although, I took DD to church Wed. night and we passed a house that already had their Christmas lights on. :scared1:

Yes, I saw some lighted homes this weekend too!:confused3 :lovestruc

Cool! We usually get a real tree, we used to get "ball" trees and then plant them in our yard, but DH has had enough of that!:goodvibes

Wow 15ft tree is big even in the US.:3dglasses

WE had a 10½ foot tree and then last year I found this 15 foot tree and fell in love with it. Good thing the lights are already on it or DH would be weeks putting them on.
When we got this one they had a 20 foot tree, but he wouldn't let me get that one since he knew he would have to decorate most of it since I do go up the ladder.

The one wall in our family room is 23 feet tall so the tree definately fits in there.

I actually have a really high ceiling in my living room, too, but the year we bought the "high" tree was a disaster (it fell over and broke ALOT of ornaments) so since then, we've given up on that and now we just get a normal tree (but I can certainly understand the bungee cord idea.)
