7/18/10 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo Part 6

no letter here either

I thought jilljill (Barb) was in charge of the postcard exchange - but my memory could be wrong

Took advantage of the sales today. Both Nick Charles and Nick Jr got sneakers:cool2:

I have some gift cards that I need to spend tomorrow:woohoo:

Then all I have left is door signs and packing:woohoo::dance3:

I wonder if this will be a problem for diy having to be back so early.

I wouldn't have gotten the Stockholm card, but I should still be able to get most of what I wanted to do:confused3

We'll just be grabbing lunch from a hot dog stand instead of sitting down:upsidedow

Got a letter from DCL saying we are leaving Stockholm at 3:00 (rather than 4:30). Don't know if this is old news for our cruise. Anyway, there you have it.

We would also like to participate in the postcard exchange. We won't be at the dismeet (couples spa), but will do our best to deliver them to the FE. :)

Our excursion doesn't end till 4...I am surprised we haven't heard from them yet. These excursion are getting a little disapointing with one already cancelled by them and now another cut short.

Think I am done shopping - unless something comes up this week

Got about 1/2 the garage cleaned tonight - getting a nice pile for trash service this week

Decided against making magnets again this cruise, have been finding magnets that we can use

also found the plastic document holder that I bought for last cruise and then couldn't find when I needed it

Here's the important part of the letter.

Hi Andrew and others,

We are traveling with extended family. My parents are celebrating their 50th anniversary and are listed as Family 51. This is a first cruise with my sister and her family. We live in Orange County near Disneyland. I teach for a local school district.

Big events we have planned currently include a private vehicle and tour planned for Berlin using a Rick Steve's recommendation. (Rick had an excellent recommendation for Rome that we used in 2007).

We also have a private tour planned with Anastasia for our two days in St. Petersburg. Both companies are accommodating two foldaway wheelchairs and appear to be very knowledgeable about access issues. My parents are both ambulatory but can only walk short distances and limited steps without additional assistance.

Our family is really looking forward to the vacation and meeting others.

Don

(I think I messed up when I posted this) :lmao:
Welcome aboard! I lived in Orange County for 24 years! Graduated from Villa Park High School. Worked at Disneyland for 15 years. (met my husband there!)
Looking forward to meeting you and all the other newcomers!

Does anyone have the link to the site that shows which ships are in port on a given day ? :confused3

Would love to know for our July 18 cruise !

I wonder if this will be a problem for diy having to be back so early.

We were planning to DIY, and we felt Stockholm was the most difficult of the cities to do it. Seems that the nice areas to walk around are far enough away that you can't just walk - need to take a shuttle or public bus. We'll still try, maybe try to get off as early as we can and then be back on before they leave.

Ken

Also, isn't it odd that DCL can't just go a little faster to beat the tide problems in Dover, especially with the 2 sea days at the end? jeez I remember almost paddling into Aruba we were going so slow. In 60 hours you would think leaving early would not have to happen!:sad2:

I added donioc and Cousin Orville to the list on the front page for post cards. This brings the total up to 15. Anyone else want on the list let me know asap so people have a chance to shop for cards. People are starting to leave for London!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We would love to get into the postcard exchange. We are a bit late on the FE but will try and come to the meet at 3pm on the first sailing day at Diversions (if available....). We will bring some Switzerland postcards with us for the swap. We are in Cabin 7503.

Dan, Eileen, and Abby (almost 11).

Questions about the postcard exchange:
1. Are we giving them out at the Dismeet? How will we know who is who? What if the person can't make it to the meet. Should we take cabin #'s and slide them under the door if we don't see them?
2. Do we address the cards and sign them?

Sorry for the questions. Never done one of these before.

I am easy as to when but quite a few kids would like to do it, on the Panama 2008 the kids enjoyed doing it.
Probably easiest to do it at the Dis meet:confused3
Anyone that can't make the Dis meet can deliver their postcards (or be delivered to) via the FE or under the cabin door:confused3
:thumbsup2
On the DCL website they recently opened some Palo brunch seatings on day 7 (St Petersburg).
I took a 10:30 slot as I figured it was better than nothing and shouldn't interfere with getting off the ship.

I'll probably try to change it when I get on the ship, but I like knowing I have something just in case:confused3
Thats good, i saw on the First Baltic navigators it had opened up all day on the first St Petes day.

Saw this on all of the other Baltic cruise meets threads, one had it from the start, but the others started getting letters, my shore trip doesnt get back to 4pm, I have seen the lunch dropped out of it.
Is anyone even in charge of the post card exchange?
Barb.

Agree, I think they didnt understand the time it takes to get out of Stockholm and through the islands. Also their route on the website shows going around Copenhargen to the right, of the island, but they went around the left which is longer, as they cant fit under a bridge.

Ok, as you liked yesterdays song to get you in the mood, here is a nice *Sunday type* song to really get you in the mood, by Dover Cliff Richard.

Now,

All the very best to our friends in the USA today, for July 4th.

Happy Independence day.

I understand this is the day the war ended, you had a big fight with aliens, who tried to take control of your lands, and you got independence, not before they blew up the white house with their big spaceships? -or do I watch to many movies?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZZvtQtdbzM

At least it wasn't you fighting the British!!!. ;)

Thank you Andrew :)

Of course I wasn't around in 1776, but I think you're right. It was aliens in a big space ship.

Can't wait for July 18th. We're heading to London early on the 16th, and I've incorporated many of your suggestions into our trip.

Have a great day!
Beth:cool1:

:goodvibes:lmao::rotfl2:

Hope you enjoy your trip here, and also hope the weather is the same, many cruisers for the 3rd Blatic cruise going on Tuesday are in London now having a great time, had quite a few Facebook messages, they are having fun, but many are suffering from jet lag, kids falling asleep etc.

Been going around trying to get $1 and $5 bills for Room service, everyone is out of small USA bills, got some.

I have labeled up all my small currencies as some look the same, so on the ship I can grab an envelope and go!!!

:wave2:Good Morning All :wave2:

:beach: Happy 4th of July :beach:

:thumbsup2Down with the British up with the Rebels!:thumbsup2

We did the same - kroner-krona??????? Hopefully we'll remember to take the right currency in the correct port. I'll feel like I'm in an old movie, "If it's Tuesday it must be Belgium????"

Just checked our DCL excursion does not return untill 3:15 Hmmmmmm!:lmao:
