7/18/10 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo Part 6

Pirate night, yes, but nothing like the PC cruise in 2008! Just some shirts/pants/tattoos and jewelry and hooks. :)

Villans, no, not enough packing space. I would want to be ursula!

We aren't doing any private tours

No upgrade as we have connecting verandah rooms, so the only option would be the Roy or Walt!

:goodvibes:thumbsup2

Roy or Walt are free someone didn't pay up, or was rude to someone with connections in DCL, so got bumped...;)

Dressing up maybe limited due to luggage space, Ursula, you would never get done!!!!

Andrew's Sunday night questions/ survey:-

Who is dressing up pirate night?
Depends on packing space-this would be the first thing left behind if we needed to-maybe just our black PC repo t-shirts

Who is dressing up Villains night, and if so, as who?
Nope

Those on Private Tours, any plans on what you will tip, one person posted 15% Guide, and 5% driver, another a set fee $100 Guide and $50 Driver.
15-20% depending on service

Who is taking currency for all ports, who is going on plasitc?
combo, some cash, but mosty plastic

Anyone going for an upgrade at port???
Depends on what is available, happy with our cat 8 for now

Do you have them in USA, They are a cone of Chocolate, with marshmallow inside, topped with half a Walnut, and in Marks come in a pack of three or six, and really nice, for not nut allergy sufferers. Any Marks and Spencer have them 99p for 3 in a box, M&S are the best, -All over London. Often at the tills.
I don't recall seeing them in the USA, at least not in NY or VA. I'll be on the look out in London:thumbsup2
Here they are:

1) Are we planning a DISmeet for this group? I'd like to meet this crowd!
Sounds good:thumbsup2 Maybe on embarktion day or the first sea day??

2) Do you think guides in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, etc will accept euros? I'm stressing a bit about keeping up with 7 different kinds of money

Beth
I would think euros over US dollars at least:confused3
Do you mean for tip?
I think they will take anything-but euros or local currency preferred:confused3

I was hoping to do a wine or martini tasting on the first sea day...but noticed on the navigators from the first sailing that they scheduled the martini tasting at the same time as the Guest Speaker for St Petersburg:headache:

Decisions, decisions...
If they are near each other I guess I could do both:idea:
Running back and forth with my martini:teleport:

Easy fix. They tape the speakers and shopping tips in a loop and put them on the ship's channel so as long as you don't mind checking the tv that day, you will eventually see it. Martini's it is!

So far we haven't organized any Dis meet for this cruise. It's been mentioned a few times but hasn't gone anywhere. It would be nice. Anyone with ideas? It could be informal, like 11am the first sea day in the lobby or the little area where the computers are(used to be?) Can't think of the name of that bar area.:confused3

We'll probably dress up pirates night, haven't figured out costume yet though :confused3

No on villian's night.

Will probably do the 15/5% on tipping of private guide.

We weren't able to get Estonian currency. Did not get Danish either, otherwise, Euro and local currency for rest of ports. Of course plastic will be used

Would love to try for an upgrade at the port, but we're sailing on DVC points so I'm not sure how I'd even go about it. :confused3 Has anybody done an upgrade at the port when sailing on points? How is it done? :teacher:

Can't believe it's only 21 days. We are on the final leg of a road trip out to Denver and back. :drive::drive: and will have a lot to catch up on when we get home tomorrow night.

One of us is sailing on points, but we're happy with our cabin. It is a good questions, can you upgrade on points?

Dear Ballyhoo Group

Wife, Daughter (10.9999) are going on the Baltic Cruise as our first ever cruise. Really looking forward to it all and are open to any advice you all have. We are from the US originally (Boston Area last), but live in Geneva, Switzerland now. Driving to Dover on Saturday before and then going to enjoy the next 13+ days. Can't wait for the trip.
Welcome aboard! We have a daughter that turned 11 in March! This is her 4th cruise, I'm sure she'd be happy to show Abigail the ropes!
If I may ask, what made you move to Switzerland?

Andrew's Sunday night questions/ survey:-

Who is dressing up pirate night? No, I don't believe any of us are. Been there, done that on Pirates.

Who is dressing up Villains night, and if so, as who? no plans to

Those on Private Tours, any plans on what you will tip, one person posted 15% Guide, and 5% driver, another a set fee $100 Guide and $50 Driver. Not real sure, but the 15%/5% sounds pretty reasonable

Grrrr - why oh why do things break down right before vacation, first the lawnmower and now the garbage disposal - almost was afraid to turn on the dishwasher earlier

Yes, choosing between sleeping in and any onboard activities:sad2:
Gonna need someone to bang on my door the first sea day to make sure I don't sleep the day away:rolleyes:

Plus gotta play bingo:woohoo:
My DH and DD were chanting B-11, B-B-11 for days after our last cruise:laughing:
Gonna miss Pikey:guilty:

I think if we pick a lounge with a bar for the Dis meet we will have a better turn out:idea:
But remember I said I'm horrible with names:rolleyes1
What's the name of the lounge on the way to Parrot Cay?-they have a bar I think:confused3

I want my tickets...:yay:
Me too:woohoo:

Me too:woohoo:

That's the bar area I was thinking of.

We just booked the DCL Russian Folklore for the 2nd evening. We didn't want to do the ballet and although we will be exhausted, we really didn't want to be on the ship, looking over at St. Petersburg, knowing we can't get off and probably won't visit there again. The folklore show seemed to get good reviews so we said, why not?
