This very Friday in July we will be sitting at a beautiful waterside table enjoying a quick lunch before continuing our stroll through Venice.

Thinking our Murano visit will be Saturday

ooooh, how fun is that! We will have just finished proscuitto sandwiches at a tiny little deli along the waterfront next to our hotel and will be on our way to Ca Macana to learn about, and paint carnivale masks!

As of right now, I will be dragging two grumpy kids out of bed to lug our suitcases across the Papadopoli Gardens to the People Mover to dump our luggage and go run around Burano for a bit. If you see a couple of tall blonde kids rolling their eyes and lagging behind a short dark-haired woman flashing a camera and happily singing Greek songs totally out of tune and lyrics, that would be us.

4 weeks from right now, we will just be arriving in Venice, barring any delays in our flight.

I'm working today (and overseeing construction in my law firm's office suite). I am working on the cruiser directory and the Venice dinner, too, so at least I can mix the pleasure of trip anticipation with the mundane.

One month from now... We'll be taking a vaporetto over to Burano and maybe Murano.

One month from today at this time we will be thinking about catching the train from Mestro to Santa Lucia, and dragging our suitcases to the cruise port to wait to board the Magic!

Oh, my goodness! How have I not even heard of the "Happy Train" before? I am definitely going to look into that for after our half-day tour with a private driver.

Glad to be of service - isn't it fun? It is relatively new. There is also a new bus line which just opened about a month ago. The bus goes from the port to the train square in Pireus, then into Athens. It's nice to see that the city is trying to shore up it's transportation infrastructure.

We rode this the last time we were in Athens and had a great experience. Our girls have already asked if we can do it again.

FYI- just saw the schedule for the Barcelona cruise port. We will be the only ship in port on July 26th, but then on Sunday, July 27th, FIVE other ships are in port! RC, NCL, and three other smaller lines. I'm thinking it may work out better to do some of the Barcelona city stuff on Saturday and then head up to Montserrat or somewhere out of the city on Sunday.
