7/14/2014 - 12-Night Mediterranean Cruise (with Greece) Venice to Barcelona

From DCL:
Disney Cruise Line changes policy on power strips and extension cords in staterooms
These items are no longer allowed to be brought on board, but may be borrowed from Guest Services

I always bring a power strip. With cameras, phone tablets, etc it is needed.

I am starting a directory of the cruisers on this thread and on the Facebook page. I would only email it to the people who are in it. If you would like to be in such a "directory" and have your information shared with others who are on this thread or the Facebook private group who are also in the directory, please private message me here with the following information (if you already sent the information to me on Facebook, no need to do it again - the directory will include everyone who participates from both sources):

Names of all sailing & ages/gender of children
DISBoards username
Cabin number
Where you are from
When you are arriving in Venice
Where you are staying (this will help people coordinate sharing water taxis, etc.)
Your email address to which I can send the "directory"
Any other information you would like to share (i.e., email address, etc.)

Thanks very much for undertaking this task, I have sent you a PM :surfweb:

Another thing we have done on MED cruises was to include our flights and those of us on the same flights met in Atlanta on our layovers. :hourglass

We are arriving early so less likely to have others on same flts but we are on Delta Fit 264 from Minneapolis to Amsterdam on July 10th 7:24pm to 10:40am. Then KLM to Venice at 11:35am on the 11th arriving at 1:20pm.

I've learned from putting the information into the "directory" that there is another family on our flight from Philadelphia to Venice, and they aren't even from our area of the country. It is going to be great to meet them at the Philadelphia airport!

That is what happened to us on our MED cruise, we hooked up on our Atlanta layover with DISers from Tennessee, Colorado, Texas, New Jersey, Rhode Island and us from Minnesota. It was really fun guessing who someone was as they were walking up to everyone else and even more surprising how many we got right.

If we were not traveling so early I would suspect we would find a good number on the Amsterdam to Venice leg of our travel.

Good morning, everyone!

Thanks to all who are posting such useful and fun information here!

Has anyone made plans yet for Crete? Howard and I are considering a "private" jeep tour that can accommodate up to 8 people. If anyone is interested in details on it, please send me a private message here and we can try to coordinate.

Also, if anyone else wants to be in the "directory", please send me your information as soon as possible. I'd like to get it out by email soon to everyone who is in it so that people can coordinate on water taxis, etc. if they'd like.

We have 21 families in the "directory" I am putting together. I am going to email it tonight or tomorrow to the families that are in it. If you'd like to be in it, let me know. It is a great way to see if anyone else is staying at your Venice hotel (to share water taxis, etc.), to see if anyone is on your flight (some people have shared their flight information), to find other young people who are of similar age to your younger cruisers and to coordinate excursions.

If you are interested in having your information in it, let me know as soon as possible. :)

Golly, I thought I had subscribed to this thread. I was wondering why there wasn't any activity in a while. Man, I'm dozen's of pages behind.

Venice - arriving 3 days early and staying at Palazzo Sant'Angelo (I think there's a few others staying here). We're probably going to take the boat over to Burano and possibly Murano, but it doesn't seem to get as good reviews. We pre-ordered tickets for the Doge's Palace. Last time we were in Venice, there wasn't a line, but I've read usually there is. No other plans yet.

Athens - Private tour with PK Travel. Debating between Corinth and the Temple of Poseidon/Cape Sounion

Kusadasi - Private tour Melitour. Having been here before, we're going to do an abbreviated Ephesus tour, Mary's House, Lunch at the country house (see you all there!), and Sirince Village

Rhodes - No plans yet. I was hoping just to walk into town on our own. I'll have to research that

Crete - Private tour of Knosses, Venetian Fort, Heraklion museum

Mykonos - Relax in town. I may take a morning tour of Delos myself, but my dw and kids aren't going to want to do that.

Santorini - Private tour with OceanWave to Oia, Santo Winery, village of Pyrgos with lunch.

Malta - Not too sure. 3rd time here. We haven't actually walked around Valletta so that's likely. May go back to Mdina.

Hi everyone! We are enjoying a 60 degree day here in eastern PA today! I was outside trying to break up some ice chunks on our pool cover....which got me thinking about ice and keeping things cold. Does anyone know if the "cooling boxes" have been replaced with regular refrigerators on the Magic?? I thought I read somewhere that that was one if the things that would be done with the reimagining of the ship.

125 days until we sail!!

Moneyhappy - I am celebrating something, although now i'm a little reluctant to say that as it sounds like I'm going to be hazed or something lol Why?

Cousin, i was wondering why you had gone silent - you were so chatty in the early weeks. :D

Eemax and Moneyhappy - I was just on the Magic this weekend. I have a photo of my refrigerator still on the camera, but my brain was lost on Castaway Cay and it's going to be a few days before I unpack it.

While they have discontinued power strips, they have added a bunch of new outlets. again, when i've unloaded the sand from my brain, I will count them all up. I was happy to see them on either side of the bed, and more over the desk. My stateroom host said that they had no problems with the USB multi ports, but they could not be grouped with additional outlets, if that also helps.

WIFI on the ship was excellent. My data plan turning off, was not. ATT loved me. Someone remind me on Day 1 to turn on Airplane mode (duh.)

What company are you using for your private tour of Knossos?

I am happy to hear about the wifi. It was always so slow. I read they changed their data plans was well.

They did. it's based on data used, rather than minutes. I was working, and reviewing some documents, and panicked when I realized I was still online, and ran to the usage meter, which had not changed. It was great!

My booking window for excursions is coming up this weekend and I was wondering what others are doing for excusions. We are doing everything through Disney. I like the saftey of not being left behind. What are you all doing?
