7/13/13 ~~ Eastern Mediterranean Mouseketeers!

I have been to Turkey several times and I have never gotten the Hep A shot for any of the trips....I can't say that I even thought about it for this trip.

However, now that you brought it up - I might run the idea past my kids' pediatrician and see what she thinks.

Hep A is never a bad vaccine to have anyway no matter where you are or going...you always hear news stories even at home of some restaurant having an employee with Hep A and suggesting patrons getting checked.

Hep A is really necessary for turkey...if you stay there longer then the 1 day the disney cruise does. Plus if you are going to the inlands, and stay in a turkish hotel. I don't think anyone of us does, so I let it be. For that one day at the coast, and visiting touristic hotspots, i don't feel the need.
But if you want 100 % security...you cna take the shot off course.

I agree with both of you. I think for 1 day we will be fine, however it is recommended for a lot of other underdeveloped countries in Asia and Africa that I plan to eventually do some adventure travel to, so I figure why not get it now and be extra safe. I have my appointment for next month, as long as they confirm my insurance covers it, I'm going to get it.

Bought my airfare again! 2nd time now..... Guess I'm determined to go! Excited ;)

Now that excursions for some of the ports are up, what is everyone thinking? Any must do's out there?

I'd like to try for the white water trip in France. :)

Hello everyone! We are excited that we've finally committed to this cruise -- bought our air tickets this week :) We literally booked the first day possible (moved a dummy cruise from an onboard booking from our last Med cruise in 2011!) but could not decide whether to go through with it until just recently.

Anyhow, we're Hannah (me!), DH (Craig), DD1 (age 6 at time of cruise), and DD2 (2.5 at time of cruise). We're from California and have previously been on DCL three times (Med May/June 2011, Mexico Dec 2011, and Alaska July 2012). We LOVE doing the FE and would love to be added to the group! Looks like this is one VERY active group of DISers, so at the moment I have 44+ pages of posts to catch up on, LOL.

We are second seating and deck 7 I believe. We'll be in London for a week and then Barcelona for about 2 days before embarkation. DH has to work in London, but hopefully the girls and I will have a lovely time on our own :) Hotel for London is still TBD. We will likely be at the W in Barcelona, but also still TBD. Last time we stayed at the Hilton Diagonal Mar and enjoyed it, but we didn't come in early enough to experience BCN at ALL that time!

Looking forward to planning alongside you all for the next 6+ months!

Hannah and family,

Welcome to the cruise! I am currently organizing the fish extender and you can sign up to join the exchange in post #4 on the first page. Just click on the link for the spreed sheet and you can add your info and edit it at anytime.

I am sure you will have a fine time in London on your own with your girls. There is lots to do with kids there and it is easy to navigate around. I am sure the kids will love riding around on the tube as well!

Thank you! We are excited :) I signed us up for the FE already :thumbsup2

Does anyone know the deal with the FB group? I did PM Bev, but as she's not on this cruise anymore, I don't know if she is still the best point of contact.

Welcome Aboard! You've been added to the Roll Call! :cheer2::cheer2:

In terms of FB: Our group has a page. It is a closed group located by searching for the name "Disney Magic Eastern Mediterranean July 13, 2013." Some of the administrators of this page include: Stimpy, Pirateluv, and Floridamom3461 (there are a couple of others but their names escape me) so send one of the dissers I just mentioned a PM alerting them that you are wanting to join so they can be on the lookout for your request to join over there on FB. Once you join, please make sure you fill in the document that tells the group your Disboard name! I've also modified page one post four with this information too! Good luck. :)

Good Morning Everyone and a Merry Christmas Eve! Today is my first day posting, although, I've been browsing for a few days. (I decided to make some cruise magnets as Christmas Gifts -- THank you to so many wonderful and creative people -- Milliepie !)

Anyway, I will be reading more about FE and SM, but, wanted to ask, what does DD, DH, DS mean next to most people's name.. I'm a computer person and couldn't figure out those acronyms.. -- shame.. hahahaha..

We will be cruising the July 13th, 2013 med cruise. It will be our 7th. I have to get the list of all our others so I can post the, our last ones were NYC-Canada in September 2012, Alaska 2011 and Baltic 2010.

Appreciate insight into what the DD,DH, DS equate to. Thank you in advance.

It's a bit tricky to figure out forum-speak, but DH, DD, DS etc equate to Dear Husband, Dear Daughter, Dear Son etc. If you write DD3 it can either mean your third daughter or your 3-year-old daughter ;)

Welcome to the DIS Boards!

Would you mind sharing the links to the magnet's milliepie did for you for this cruise? I would love to see the designs if that is alright with you, to modify them for my family as well.

Hi I don't have any links.. I've just been using some of the art and downloaded the waltograph font and have been using that.

Okay, I have been on here for awhile and I still got it wrong! I thought DH, DS, etc. stood for Disney Husband, Disney Son and so forth. Guess I just have Disney on the brain most of the time.

Actually many people say it stands for Disney Husband, Disney Son, etc. I've heard both explanations on here--when I was a newbie I looked it up/asked as well and that was the answer I got, that it can mean 'Dear' or 'Disney'. I have Disney on the brain all the time so that's what I go with!

Hi!

My wife, Chrystina and I, will be along too. Look forward to getting to know everyone. Only 199 days...

That's too funny! I am on many boards that are non-Disney, so it never occurred to me that there would be a Disney version of these common internet abbreviations ;) The next time I type DD on a board about, oh, car seats, I'm going to giggle because I'll be thinking of the DIS!:rotfl:

Hello Everyone! While on the Panama Canal cruise last week my mother convinced me that a cruise to the Med this summer was possible! I've caught up with all 44 pages so far and can't wait to meet everyone.
As of now we are:
Jennifer - Me
Seth - DH
Anthony - DS16
Madison - DD11
Lilian - Grandma

My sisters are also thinking about joining us, so I may add them later.
We are definitely in for FE exchange, secret Mickey, candy and any other exchanges that make cruising DCL special! I will sign up using the link on page 1. This group has been active so I'm sure we will have a lot to do to fill our sea days, we can't wait! :thumbsup2
