7/11 Months for Aulani

Hello. We are hoping to go to Aulani in late June/early July next year. Is there usually availability for the non-home resort members in getting rooms 7 months out during these months?

We might have an opportunity to get airfare from our miles program, but would have to commit now. Wanted to see how much risk would be involved in getting flight now, but waiting until November to book 7 months out.

That's a hard opportunity to pass up. I think it's been rare to read of someone getting completely shut out of booking at Aulani - that COULD happen of course but most likely to occur over a high demand time such as Christmas / New Years week. If I were BUYING my air out-of-pocket I would definitely wait to be sure I'd secured my reservation first in case I needed to be flexible on my dates by a day or two. I think in the case of using rewards you'd probably be OK to risk it as long as you're then able to be flexible with the type of unit / view that you want to book at Aulani. (And of course be prepared to waitlist & book someplace else if you HAD to.) If you're dead set on a certain unit size / view then you might be disappointed. Be signed on and ready to hit submit on your computer promptly AT 8:00 AM on your 7 month window & you'll probably be able to book something. YMMV tho.

June has been one of the months I have seen many posts about having trouble booking and having to move vacations by a week or two in order to get a room on points.

I agree that June is the month that is hardest to book at the 7 month mark and next to impossible for standard and island view rooms. It is a low point cost in June and very popular with both Aulani owners and DVC members booking at the 7 month mark.

You also might have problems with Golden Week, the end of April and first week of May. That is a very popular vacation period for Japanese guests and there are many Japanese DVC members that own at Aulani.

The June/July time you want is a high DVC demand time at Aulani and you may have difficulty. For that time of year at 7 months out in 2014, all room categories had one or more days already full in any given 5 day period beginning in last week of June and ending July 6.
