As a brand-spanking new DVC member I have a few questions that maybe people could answer for me. I haven't even received my welcome packet from Disney yet.

1) Are the 7/11 month windows specifically by the date of the month (Example: If I want to book June 15th at the beginning of the 7 month window is the first date I can book November 15th)?

2) Can I book my entire stay at the begining of the window? In other words, can I book an entire stay for 06/15-06/20 at the 7 month window of November 15th or would I have to wait until November 20th?

3) Can I book at my home resort at 11 months out (as a back up plan) and then try to book where I really want to stay at 7 months out and cancel my initial home resort's booking?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The booking window opens the first day of your vacation, for up to 7 days...so, if you want to go November 15 for a week, you can book the whole week as soon as MS opens on April 15...if you want to stay more than a week, you have to call back for the "extra" dates --

And yes, you can book at 11 months at your home resort and then change your reservation at 7 months...lots of DVC members do that...most of the time it works just fine, although there are some times (New Year's Eve, Christmas, 4th of July, for example) where you may not get a change at 7 months that you like as well or better as your home resort!

Have fun planning; hope you enjoy your m'ship as much as we've enjoyed ours...

A: Yes

A: Yes you can book for up to seven nights on the 1st day the reservation windows opens.

A: Yes

I have done all of the above at one time or another.

Keep in mind that if changing resorts at the 7 month window, you either need to have enough points to book the new reservation, or you need to cancel your home resort reservation first so you have enough points.
Make sure you ask the MS CM if there is plenty of available at the new resort before cancelling the other.
There have been horror stories of only 1 or 2 rooms being available and by the time the home resort was cancelled the rooms were gone, and now you possibly have nothing.
