6yr old boy Birthday celebration ideas?

When we go down in October, my son is going to be celebrating his 6th birthday. I can't really think of any "Boy" type things to go to for celebrating. I have the Hoop De Doo tix already, but due to transportation issues, I have to cancel (No rental car this trip and I dont want to spend up to 4 hrs on a bus which has happened to us in the past trying to get back to our resort from Chef Mickeys once )

We're staying at the Beach Club and I would appreciate any ideas you guys have for celebrating around that area or in one of the parks. We intend on getting him one of the birthday pins for that day.

It's so much easier for girls...they have all their princess meals, teas, etc. He would probably kill for a Star Wars breakfast LOL (Yes, I know THAT is impossible)

Check out this thread on birthday cakes http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=845308 from the resturant section and maybe you can do something for him in the room and a special dinner for him out somewhere (let him choose from a list or maybe at the Goofy's Beach Club Breakfast at Cape May). I too wish they had at least one character meal aimed more towards boys--- would he like to do the new pirate cruise from the YC?

I am planning on the Albatross Cruise, but I'm not holding my breath since it's only 1x a week and they only take 10-12 kids. That would be great if I could get it for him! He has done the Pirate Cruise at the GF and loved it. I really think he would enjoy this one even more.

Also, we have the Cape May Breakfast already for our first full day in Disney. Since it's a tradition for us to start our vacation there, it's really not that special for him. He's not big on characters either.....not afraid of them, more like he can't be bothered with them. He'd rather be doing the rides and stuff. I love him to death but he's actually a pain in the neck to plan things special for LOL

We are celebrating my sons 6th birthday at WDW in October too. We will start the day with a character breakfast- CM or CP then spend the day in Magic Kingdom. For dinner, we are heading over to the RFC at DTD. After dinner, DS is going to get disney dollars to spend in the Lego store or World of Disney. I think he'll enjoy choosing his own gift. He's really into Lego's right now-especially Star Wars.

I am ordering a cake and having it delivered to our room. I'm also collecting birthday cards with Disney characters and signing them so DS will think they are from the characters. I'm also wrapping small gifts to go along with the character cards. Most of the "gifts" are small character things I've found (sticker books, Pez dispenser, Mickey flashlight) and others are things that I bought on sale (Stitch beach towel, Dash pj's, Darth Mickey, etc...) I plan to put them out in the room so he will find them when we return from the park that day.

I'm considering making him a special T-shirt thru Disney Direct with his favorite characters and "I'm six today" or something like that. He and DD4 hopefully will be doing the Pirate Cruise this trip.

DS did the pirate cruise last year and loved it! Since we're staying at the BCV, I'm going to try for the Albatross one this time. Hope you can get your children in the Pirate Cruise

We took our 5 yo ds to Whispering Canyon for lunch on his birthday. He had a blast! We went to CP for breakfast the next day.

WC is a great idea, but for my DS who will be turning 5 on our trip in sept it might be a little too intense because he's very shy with grown ups so we are planning on doing dinner at CM or Ohana's for him. BTW, I LOVE the idea of a star wars character meal! Very cool. I know major disney only people would flame me for this but you could always do the superhero's breakfast at Universal although you do need to park admission. But they actually sell certain "meal admission" tickets that are cheaper and allow you admission for about 2 hours so that you can have enough time to go eat in one of the restaurants and go on one ride if you plan it good! We're probably skipping universal this year because the kids are so young 5, 3 and 8 months, but we went for a day last spring when DS was only 3.5 and he loved it! Universal/IOA is very "boy" oriented, unlike Disney and the rides there are amazing! Anyway good luck deciding. BTW, you coud always take car service to get there and back.

Be open to special unplanned magical moments as well as what you plan. I know I love to plan, but every birthday we have ever celebrated at WDW had special stand out moments that I could not plan. We take each kid for their 5th birthday. For ds #1 his fav birthday moment was when Push the talking trash can sang to him in Epcot. For ds #2 his fav was driving the jungle cruise boat (at 9 he is still certain he actually drove ;-). Plan what you can, and they just enjoy the day...it will be special no matter what.
