6th Annual Christmas Thread

Haven't read all posts yet so forgive me if my questions have already been asked/answered.

After 10 years of fake Christmas trees we are going to get the real thing this year!!!! My only problem is that I have a lot of ornaments and most are Hallmark and somewhat heavy. The reason I switched to a fake tree was because it held the ornaments much better. We tried a real one one year and the branches would bend and the ornament would fall.

So what type of tree has strong branches? Also when should we buy it?

We usually put the tree up right before or right after Thanksgiving. Would that be too early?

We always do real trees and never have a problem with ornaments falling. The key is to get a fresh tree. We go to a farm and cut ours down ourself. If you get it from a tree lot it's been sitting there for days without water, not to mention the truck ride there.

I cannot for the life of me think of the type of tree they grow on the farm. Maybe it will hit me after I wake up more fully.

I feel like I haven't gotten anything done, but I've gotten a lot of bits and pieces. A book I preordered for DS9 came, and a pair of over the ear headphones I got a good deal on. I've gotten most of my stocking stuffers except for candy now and that I will just pick up when I grocery shop. I cut way back on stocking stuffers this year, though, in the past their stockings were overflowing and it was ridiculous.

If anyone needs stocking stuffer ideas, here's what I got:

DD17: fun socks
Fingernail polish kit with three graduated colors
Splat ball thing (looks like an egg, you throw it and it looks like it breaks)
Candy
4-pack of frappuccino under her stocking

DS16: I heart my pen** hand sanitizer
Splat ball
Hot Wheel car (tradition)
Candy
Stewart's root beer

DS14: batman earbuds
Splat ball
Hot Wheels car (tradition)
Candy
Stewart's root beer

DS12: Crazy Cubes
Splat Ball
Hot Wheels car
Candy
YooHoo

DS9: Stuffed Perry the Playpus
Splat ball
Hot Wheels car
Candy
Stewart's root beer

OMG where did you get batman earbuds?

I'm thinking about getting my little nephews personalized blankets from the Disney store and I'll get them each a book too. Anyone have those blankets, are the really thin?

I have bought about a dozen of these over the years and would highly recommend them! They are not too thick or thin. I have gotten the fleece pull over and those are thin.

On the Disney site the sale price is $12.00 with 25% OFF and Free personalization. Brings it to $9.00! :cool1:

I have also purchased the personalized books from the Disney site. IMO, they're just ok. I think there are better prices and more personalization on some other sites.
Hope that helps!!
Denise

I highly recommend the personalized blankets. I've given them many times over the years and they still look and feel great! :thumbsup2

Got more shopping done over the weekend and didn't spend a dime. :thumbsup2

I cleaned up some items out of DD's closet and took it to once upon a child and made $56. I used that along with some coupons to shop.

I picked up dS14 a pair of pants at Areo. They were having a sale and I had an additional 40% off coupon and a gift card that has never been used. So I got him a pair of pants for only $11 and still have money left to use on BF.

I bought DD her birthday outfit from justice since it was 60% off and I picked her up craft case from Michaels for her Rainbow loom bands for 65% off. I used money from Once Upon a Child so it didn't cost me anything out of my bank account.

I got my mom the scrap book album she wanted at Michaels as well.

I plan to go to Target tonight to buy some video games since they are buy 2 get 1 free. Hopefully the ones they want are still there. I should have gone yesterday. I also plan to pick up one of my nephews the Little People Farm. I have a $10 off manufacture coupon and target has $5 off in toy catalog.

I am making good progress and spending less then I thought I would. :santa:

Deffenm-great job not spending any money!

There is a sale going on today on the American Girl website. They have several outfits reduced 5-10 off. Really good sale. Wished I had waited to place my order but I placed it last week not thinking they would ever reduce outfits this close to Christmas.

That's awesome :cheer2:

Any tips for black friday? I always avoid shopping on that day but there are two items in the Target ad I really want. They open at 8pm so should I be there before 8pm lining up at the door?

Depends on what you want in the ad

It's been my Target BF experience that if it isn't a doorbuster then getting there anytime is acceptable. I looked at the ad today and we won't be getting there before 9, even though they open at 8.

Well... my dad and his fiancee did end up splitting. He kicked her out this weekend (and talk about DRAMA). So I took the lotions back since I still have a receipt. I can't find the receipt for the candle so just going to keep it even though I HATE the smell of lavender. My cousin wears a size medium so I will give her the sweater over Thanksgiving (it would feel odd to give it as part of her Christmas gift since it is a gift basket for her AND her husband lol).

Yay...

The $19 razor scooter and $20 bungee chair.

Those deals may be online, I would definitely check before heading out. That way you might not have to wait in line or fight the crowds.

I KNOW!!!! :faint: What are we gonna do?!!!:faint: Well, we are mommy/wife …we will get it all done in time! We always do! I have to admit…I still haven't bought Christmas!!! But, if y'all remember we were debating on NYC for Christmas…well, the kids would rather go in the spring. I think we are going to spend the week AFTER Christmas in Dallas. Not sure, but that is more affordable and what is probably going to work out the best. So…dd has picked out some new stuff to go with her GOTZ doll, ds14 of course wants more LEGOs…DS17,,turning 18 the first part of Dec still has NO clue what he wants!!! I will get my nephew LEGOs, and maybe a GC to the movies or a restaurant for him and his mom…my mom and my hubby…no clue yet. My moms birthday is the day before TDay this year..already have part of her bday….so.. I will probably time my Pottery Barn order to come in when we are gone so my mom can hide it for me….. LEGOs can be purchased on the sly!! I saw some super cute wrapping paper at the Hallmark store Monday, so I will probably go back and get it. I feel better having a plan!!!
Me and my dd are working on packing stuff for Disney this week….. If I am shipping anything, I have to do it Monday or Tuesday at the latest. I will probably put up my tree and indoor decor next week… Have to see how the days run together! LOL!!

Only 4 days left for you girl!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you ready?????
