6th Annual Christmas Thread

I finally made my list today!

One friend of mine is going on a cruise in Europe during Christmas break, so I wanted to give her some things that could be useful then. I am going to make a luggage tag, and give her a chunky scarf and thick socks to wear with boots. I still need a few things, though. Any suggestions?

Guide book for one of the cities she is stopping at?

Gloves to go with her scarf?

Passport holder?

You could also do a travel alarm clock- most cruise staterooms don't have them and it can be disorienting to not know what time it is! Or if you know her cruise info, cruise lines have gifts you can order to be sent to her room (chocolates, drinks, etc).

Or maybe stuff to do on the plane? A pile of magazines, a nice eye mask, etc?

Also, maybe some good quality small travel toiletry type things...I know I have fallen in love with AHAVA hand lotion~the Water one...lots of lotions are too perfumy and give me a headache but this one is perfect and they sell a travel size for $8....I get mine at Ulta or you can order from their site...you could also do a pair of cozy socks for wearing in the room, or a GC for her to download books to read while traveling if she's a bookworm...

Target has a great sale on the lego friends kits. My 11 year old has several on her list. I was able to buy Heartlake High for $10 off!

Now I just need to find better places to hide things until Christmas!

Thanks!! That is one of the things my dd wants too...

DH and I actually had "date night" on Saturday, so we got over to the mall sans kiddos. We saw "Hoodie Buddies" at Sears (jacket with built in earbuds), and we thought that that might be good for DNephew 20, a college student. DSIL thought that it could work and gave me his size. I haven't bought it yet, but I am happy to have an idea. DN is living in a house off campus this year, so I need to see what grocery stores are in his town for a GC. I just found out that Chase Bank has discontinued selling GC, so no more fee free Visa cards.

I ordered a few of these today, including the cruise ship for DD. Much happier paying $55 vs $69

Today is DS's 4th birthday so we went to Toys R Us and I let him pick out a toy. I used their new coupon (spend $40, get a $10 gift card) and also picked up a baby doll car seat and a pack of doll diapers for DD's xmas. Now I have to figure out what to do with the gift card!

This is a reach, but I may as well try on here! Does anyone know where I can get gifts made out of authentic tartans and/or something framed that might have a family's history? I am going to email the local Celtic society as well, but the more people I ask, the better luck I might have!

there is a store in Epcot that is next to the Toy Soldier~ I cannot remember their name, but I know they have family history stuff in there and you can have things printed on paper and such...maybe they could direct you...

Its not very exciting but what about an extra memory card for her camera.

Joining in!! I just posted something on the Budget Board about the Annual Black Friday Thread. I may be jumping the gun, but thought it would be up by now.... so anyway....

I'm hoping to score a great deal on a Kindle Fire, or possibly a Nook for my DS7. He uses the Nook in class and specifically asked for one. My DD 4 is easy peasy... ARIEL everything! So that leaves the baby- 1yr. I'm thinking some Little People playsets and a busy cube of some sort. Vtech has one that looks awesome, but I think I want to get away from the toys requiring batteries.

In addition to my 3 littles, I have

DNeice - 6
DNeice - 5
DNephew - 5
DNephew - 6mos
Godson - 9
Godson - 4
BFF's son - 7
In Laws
My Mom
Brother's girlfriend's 2 boys (!)
My Granny

This weeks Toys R Us add looks good, (B1G1 50% off Little people and Vtech!) even though I wasn't ready to buy just yet, I may have to hit them up this week. I also saw that Amazon just released the new Kindle Fires, so hopefully I can snag a good deal on that or Nook. LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!

:welcome: to all then newbies!! we are so glad you are here to discuss and plan the Holidays with us!!!! Lots of you are really getting serious and making a dent in your planning & purchasing!!! Way to go!! This year, I am really not ready~well, not as ready as I usually am! My kids are older now and not into as much 'stuff', so we are having a harder time making lists!! Bittersweet I tell ya!!!

13 WEEKS TIL CHRISTMAS!!!!

I had enough rewards points on my debit card to order a gift. I am getting a multi piece art set in a box to put away for DD for Christmas. Yay!

Going back out to the outlets in Sevierville next week! I don't know what day yet because I am waiting for the weather forecasts. It is mostly for trying to finish with Christmas shopping, but I am also needing some stuff for myself. Due to my health issues I have lost 15 lbs in 3 months. Now, I needed to lose that (and I need to lose more) so my doctor is not too concerned as the weight loss might actually HELP my condition. The problem? I have ONE pair of jeans that fit now... and saying they fit is stretching it. They are already big enough that I am afraid they will fall off!

I checked another gift off for my cousin's DGS3 - 2 different monster trucks by Matchbox marked down from 7.50 each to 2.50 each.

Hi everyone! We have 3 kinds. DD15, DD9, and DS 1. My 15 year old is easy. I could spend a fortune at Hot topic on their disney clothes. We're going to the world Jan 18-26 so a lot of stuff is going to be Disney related. I would say my hardest to buy for would be my 9 year old. She really has everything she wants. My 1 year old is easy because he's....1. I found these neat cups on Etsy that can be personalized for the younger kids. I was thinking of getting some pins for them to trade and other little things.

So far, oh woe is me, I have bought one Christmas gift... A Snap Circuits set for my DD5.

It might be a little old for her but it will be fun for her to play with along with me and/or her dad.

My friend has a set for her 8 yr old and he loves it!

They are currently on sale on Amazon.

I hope to post again once I've progressed a little further!

I officially am ready to start -- I downloaded my Holiday Control Journal from Flylady.net. It has pages to keep track of what you are buying whom, how much you plan to spend, what you've ordered, if it's wrapped yet, etc., plus planning holiday meals, parties, travel, etc. I have been downloading them and filling it out for the past few years, and it really makes it more organized and more fun. That is my best tip for a more enjoyable Thanksgiving and Christmas!
