6th Annual Christmas Thread

Come on all! None of you watch Christmas movies?????

I don't really try to watch any specific movies. I will catch what is on TV but that is about it. If I had to pick a couple:

Rudolph
It's a Wonderful Life
Charlie Brown Christmas

Well, as long as I can get to the outlet tomorrow I will be 95% done with my shopping!

we love all those movies and the Peanuts one's too, some of our Fav's are March of the Wooden Soilders, It''s a wonderful life and Elf oh and Jingle all The Way love the funny one's! and of course the old Carton one's like Frosty etc :goodvibes

I love Christmas movies! Our family favorites are Miracle on 34th Street (I especially loved this as a kid because our house was on 34th street!), A Charlie Brown Christmas, Santa Claus is Comin' To Town, and The Year Without a Santa Claus. We also watch Elf, Rudolph, the Santa Clause, the Grinch and Frosty almost ever year. :)

Can everyone keep your fingers crossed that I get to go to the outlets tomorrow? My medical issues seem to be flaring today. I hope it calms some before the morning because there is no way I can make the 1.5 hour drive feeling like I do. This stinks!

Hope you wake up feeling refreshed and can go... i know something hit me about 2 hours ago! I know it is sinus/allergy related...took a hot bath to ward off a growing chill...feel a little better but tired..I will be happy to see the backside of September!! One of my harder months for Allergies! Maybe you should call it a day and rest!!

A Christmas Carol (the Patrick Stewart version)

We had this on videotape that my late DFIL recorded from television for us back in the day. Last year, I finally ordered DH a DVD copy from Amazon for one of his Christmas gifts.

I got an email today from Gamestop. The Jack Skellington figure from Disney Infinity is going to be available starting Saturday. DS wants Disney Infinity for Christmas (hasn't yet decided if that is from Santa or us), and DH is a huge Nightmare Before Christmas fan. I'm not quite sure who, but some guy in my house will be getting that in his stocking! I also need to pay some more on the Lego Marvel game that we preordered. I think DS has forgotten about it, so that may be a Christmas gift too!

The other cool thing is that I am going to pick up some extra hours in October and maybe November. More $ for bills (boring) and Disney and Christmas (yay!)

Elf is my favorite! Other must sees are Christmas Vacation and the Grinch. My kids love the Elf on the Shelf special, too.

Thanks. It is a chronic condition that sometimes will flare up and bother me. I went to the doctor and got some meds to deal with a separate issue that can also cause similar symptoms. I am really hoping that the problem is that because then at least it can get better with the meds. Otherwise I have no idea how long I will have to deal with this flare.

LilyWDW - I hope you feel better soon! Positive thoughts coming your way!

Christmas movies-I love Grinch and Prep and Landing

I ordered ds the imaginext city that was 40% off last week during an Amazon gold box deal. It arrived today and it is huge! He will love it.

My folks came over today so I had my mom check out puzzles on amazon. She found two they would really like.

I'm ready roll!

Help. Need some game ideas for my niece (8) and my nephew (5). They are starting family games night on Saturday nights so they need to be family games. Nephew is only 5 so he really doesn't read. They already have Jenga, Horseopoly and Headbandz. I'm thinking about Sorry, maybe Operation (but that's so dang noisy). Any ideas?????

My children, ages 5, 3 and 3 years old love this game:

DH insists I watch them year round!
Favorite of all time: The Bishop's Wife (Cary Grant). So awesome. I also like The Santa Clause, Elf, Meet Me In St. Louis (which runs all seasons), Miracle on 34th Street, It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas in Connecticut
For animated, Charlie Brown Christmas still takes the cake for me. Also love How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Shrek the Halls and Prep & Landing, both specials.

Consider picture dominoes! My kids love them. You could even go regular but likely would be tougher for the 5YO to count the dots. Sorry or Trouble are good choices. Life might not be a bad one but the little one would need some help for a bit. Another great one is Zingo! That's picture based too and can move quickly.

Haven't gotten any more christmas shopping done but the kids keep giving me ideas so I at least have an idea on what to get them.

We watch Chrstimas movies all year at our house too. We love Chrstimas Story, Christmas Vacation, Christmas with the Kranks, Polar Express, The Grinch, Christmas Carol, Jingle all the Way, Arthur Christmas, Prep and Landing, Santa Clause 1, 2, 3 (although 2 is my favorite), and Miracle on 34th Street. We love all the specials they plan on Hallmark channel as well.

For games, my kids loved the Hullabaloo games, hungry hungry hippos, candy land, operation, and card games like go fish, war, uno.

Hi guys! I love joining this thread every year!

I love Christmas and can't wait to start decorating.

So far I have Cinderellas Carriage and another Little People set for my 2 year old that I got during Toys r Us's sale B1G1F! Woot!

I also got 4 Disney Princess dresses normally 20, 1/2 off at TRU the other day. 2 for my 2 year old and 2 for my 4 year old. They are so cute. I also have Doc McStuffins Operation for my 4 year old.

My dd10 loves jewelry and crafts so I have some beads and some cases for the beads all 50% off at Joann's. I also ordered her some cheap jewelry off of Amazon.
My dd12 is my tough one this year. So far I have a few stocking stuffers and thats all.

I am getting my dd10 and dd12 their own tv's for their rooms and dvd players since I won't let them have cable hooked up to the tv's. I plan on getting them a ton of cheap dvd's.

I have to place my order at AG which is going to kill me this year. 3 of my 4 girls are into them now. The 2 oldest want Saige and my 4 year old wants Julie. If anyone has a bunch of AG stuff to sell let me know. PM me and I would love to work something out. Our whole life seems to revolve around AG! :)

This year we are starting a new tradition between my 2 sisters and their families and mine. Everyones name is going into a hat and we all pick a name. Whoever you get is the person you have to make a homemade gift for. I think it will be fun and a challenge!

My sis and her Fiance are getting a Super Mario wine glass and plate set I am making them and maybe some tickets to some upcoming show where they live.

My other sis and her husband and son are getting a membership to a local kids museum they love and....... who knows!

My nephew 4, not sure yet. He loves dinosaurs and will be fun to buy for.

Other nephew 14, will get a $50.00 bill. I love him but we never get to see him and don't have an idea of what he really likes.

Teachers are all getting Giftcards. The 2 preschool teachers and 2 elementary teachers will probably get a $25.00 gc to Target. (is that a weird place to get them a gc too?) and the middle school teachers will all get a $5 or $10 to Chik Fil A which is close to the school.

Thats all we buy for. I can't wait to start baking and making candy. I am taking the girls to Disney for a few days at the end of October, so once we get back, I am decorating for Christmas!!!!

I'm currently unsure about the speakers I want to get for oldest DD.

Can anyone recommend portable speakers for a college student to use in the dorm room? Would like to keep cost under $100.

Thanks!

After going through my daughters' clothes and toys this weekend, I am cutting way back! I hope to so the something you want, need, to wear, to read. We recently purchased land to build a house, so cutting back helps with money and clutter. Anyone so the 4 gifts only? I'll do a stoking too.

Got dd The Little Mermaid DVD. It was her favorite movie when she was little.
