I disabled that service from our phone. If I see a number and noone left a message I figure it was a wrong number or not important.
If I call a wrong number, I say sorry wrong number if they have a machine, if they don't you can't. Then I go on and forget about it.
Ihave had people call me back when I've dialed a wrong number. Sometimes they are so accusatory and confrontational, it is almost scary. When they call me back and don't identify themselves, but go "You called me, who are you?", I usually reply by asking who they are. Many times they won't say, so I reply that it must have been a wrong number and hang up.
I feel sorry for those people who are so paranoid about wrong numbers or numbers that they don't know. Isn't that why they have caller id to begin with or an answering machine? They can always look up the number on reverse look up.

My DH had this done to him a few days ago. He dialed a wrong number and there wasn't a machine or anything. A few hours later, this guy called him back wanting to know who he was.
When I see strange numbers on there, I just assume they're wrong numbers.
