Greetings All!
I’ve just recently discovered the DISboards and after reading several fabulous trip/planning reports I was thinking it’d be fun to have one myself. I mean, even if nobody reads it, I’ll have it for myself! This is my very first post…so please be kind.

The Cast:
BethAnne- princess: that’s me. My first trip to Disney was in 1996 with my family, it wasn’t a great experience overall, my family just isn’t into Disney (unbelievable isn’t it?). In 2002 I discovered the WDW College Program. I lived at Disney for 7 months working Custodial at the Magic Kingdom. Yes that’s right, I cleaned the bathrooms, swept up the park, and dumped trash for 7 glorious months! It was a character building experience to say the least, and am now a self professed Disney fanatic! Currently, I am a cube dweller, typing aimlessly for 40 hours a week dreaming about the next time I am in Disney! Enough about me….
Bill- pirate: boyfriend of almost a year and a half. He’s only been to Disney once and it was in 1983….needless to say he doesn’t remember anything about Disney and I think at this point is generally fearing for his life/sanity regarding our upcoming trip. (I’m a little anxious and have a tendency to squeal and flail about uncontrollably in moments of extreme excitement)

How the trip came to be:
We actually booked this trip back in January. If you’re doing the math, that would indicat that we had only been dating a few months at this point. It seems crazy that we would have booked a trip over 300 days into the future after only dating a few months…but I guess its true that you just know when its right. So basically, this has been the longest countdown EVER….at some times unbearable, but mostly life just kept me busy and the time flew! I can’t believe that in 2 days, 20 hours, 22 minutes and 20 seconds my flight will be taking off and we’ll finally be on our way. This is turning out to be the longest week of my life!!! Anyways, so I’ve been counting down for quite awhile. Actually back in February I made one of those paper chains…you know where you take a link off everyday. At that time, it wrapped all the way around my living room, and now its just a few tiny links away. I was actually pretty surprised that Bill was so gung-ho about this trip back in January…my first sign that he was “the one” I suppose  I mean if he was willing to spend 10 days in Disney World with a crazy Disney fan then he must be worth keeping.

Check back for more details later!

Ooh, I'm jealous that you get to go so soon!

Have a great trip! Can't wait to hear about it when you get back!

So I’m very excited to eat at all the restaurants…both my BF and I are foodies so it should be a lot of fun for us. Of the restaurants that we are going to, the only one I have eaten at is Bierarten. When I was on the College Program, I didn’t have any money, so I never ate anywhere good. Bill is super excited about the Segway experience. I think it’ll be fun, but to be honest I’m super nervous I’m going to fall on my face or something. Has anyone out there done this? I’m also very excited to take the Keys to the Kingdom tour. Even though I worked at MK when I was down there and have pretty much seen all the backstage stuff they show you on the tour, I know Bill will just love it. He likes seeing how things work.

I’m not going to lie, I’m very worried about this magical express thing. I have a major fear of losing my luggage…is that ridiculous? I keep going back and forth with picking it up at baggage claim ourselves and taking it to ME, or should I just let them do their thing? I still haven’t made up my mind. Send me some re-assurances please!

Today on lunch I went to do some errands. This included the post office for postcard stamps, the Walgreens for my prescription, and the bank to cash in my coins, aka Tink money (because it was in my tinkerbell bank) and get some cash. I decided that instead of Christmas cards, I am going to send Christmas Postcards from Disney. I figure this sort of kill’s 2 birds with one stone….since I definitely haven’t had time to get cards done before I leave. I’m planning on buying some postcards my first day there and getting started on sending them out. I think it’s a cute idea!

I still have to do some packing and get stuff ready at my house…my sister is coming tomorrow night to take care of my cat.

64 hours to go
Stay tuned…..

So its now less than 46 hours till our departure! i re-watched the Disney travel dvd again last night while getting stuff ready to go. I’ve got all my clothes laid out, well piled up in my closet anyway (I don’t want to get my suitcase out until I absolutely have to because Henry, the cat, gets super upset and will hide under the bed). My sister will arrive on the Amtrak tonight at 10 pm, hopefully.

After reading a couple things around the web about ADRs, I’ve decided to make Bill call and confirm all our reservations. So he should be doing that today. As I said previously, we are on the dining plan and have all but 1 of our TS reservations made. My plan was to leave that 1 TS open so that we could decide on the fly where to go….i’m thinking that might not be such a great idea afterall. Should I just make a decision and book it or should I leave it open?

So the good news from yesterday…I got a bonus from work! Woo Hoo!!! How exciting is that? Extra spending money for Disney!!

I’ve quite a bit to do tonight. Finish cleaning up my place, get ready for sister to come, pick up sister downtown, run to the store for last minute items, pack, laundry, the list goes on….

Have a great time! I can't wait to read about your tours! Don't worry about ME - we just used it in October and it was fabulous! You'll see! :goodvibes The bus is really nice, and your luggage will arrive a few hours after you do!

Happy Holidays!
-Michelle

ONLY 22 HOURS TIL DEPARTURE!!!! I’m so excited….and exhausted. My sister’s train got in around 10:45 last night so I didn’t get to bed until around 1 am. I’m hoping that means I’ll be able to sleep tonight because otherwise I probably wouldn’t have been able to. Fortunately we are leaving for the airport at 4:45 am, so there won’t be any of that anxious waiting around to do. Right now, I’m mostly hoping that the Chicago weather holds out so that we don’t have any problems with our flight (one of the disadvantages of travel in the Midwest).

So one of the things I’m most excited about is all the pictures we are going to take! We’re also planning on using the whole photo pass thing and purchasing the cd with all the pics and copyrights. Has anyone done this? I’m curious how it’s worked out for other people. Tomorrow night we have dinner at Le Cellier, which I’ve never eaten at, but heard that it’s excellent. In fact, I’m really looking forward to all the food!

Today should be a relatively low key day, thanks to my obsessive list making and planning :) I won’t lie I have an Excel file for all of my Disney info. It has itineraries, park hours, time schedules, packing lists, restaurant lists and descriptions, etc. Bill thinks I’m crazy and makes fun of me for it, but I think deep down he admires that I’m so prepared. In fact, if he weren’t going with, I would probably have every minute of every day planned. But I know that’s not really his style so I’m planning on just going with the flow…well mostly going with the flow. In reality, I have a skeleton of a plan for every day ;) So the plan for today, take my sister to the store, show her around town, get some pizza, finish packing, make sure we have all the necessary electronic equipment, and go to bed early!
