.................

McDonalds, or what is best, an amusement center. We have an amusement center that has a package. You can get tokens, pizza, drink, the whole works. I would check into it. They take care of setting up and cleaning up, all you do is have fun and pay the bill :)

We just had a birthday party for DD when she turned 6- both boys and girls came. It was at the local Bowling Alley, and they had a BLAST! It wasn't too expensive and they did a great job keeping the party moving along. They bowled for a little more than an hour, ate pizza, then had cake and Ice cream, then opened presents. Everyone had a great time, and DD got a bowling pin signed by her friends as a souvenier. I'd highly recommend it.

You will love the convenience of a party away from home- I'd have paid twice as much just for the relief of not having to clean up before- and after!

Check out your local "parks and recreation" center. They may rent the "center" out. We did that when DS6 turned 5. Moms of the guests loved it because their kids were indoors and safe (it was really hot outside). We loved it because we spent less money than typical and had more fun.

Do you have a Chuckie Cheese near by? I think I will have DD's party their. If you get the Sunday paper sometimes there are some good coupons in there for package deals. And they do the whole decorating the table, balloons and cake.

Chuck E Cheese is so convenient. You tell them how many kids and what kind of pizza and they do everything else. Do you have any children's museums? They sometimes have party rooms.

We have paint a pot parties ! there are several 'shops' around here that do them.

The children choose a piece eg money box, mug or an ornament of a footballer etc

They then sit down and paint their own piece while they are served pizza and drinks etc. Mum justs sits and watches with a drink and there is no clearing up to do afterwards.

Their artwork is then 'fired in the kiln' ready for collection in a couple of days.

It's great fun not too expensive and the kids have something to keep at the end of it. The whole thing takes a couple of hours.

Do you have a gym nearby? Some larger gyms offer swimming, games- like indoor sports- and the one here also gets the favors and paper products- you just get the cake. Good Luck!

We are having my daughters at Wood Kingdom this year....Safety Swim also has fun parties- she is gon to one at Chuck E Cheese next week, one at Wood Kingdom the following week and 2 days later one at a Karate place. Bowling is usually the cheapest. Kaseys is at Wood Kingdom and its 259.00 for the first 14 kids and then 14.00 a head after that.... Most places here have a minimum of 14 kids but if you go to Chuck E Cheese I know they will let you have a party with as little as 4 kids!

We've done Chuck E Cheese, Build a Bear, bowling, arts and crafts store and McDOnald's for birthdays. Anywhere that I don't have a lot of little kids running through my house, and when I don't have to clean up is well worth the price!

For DS's 5 year b'day, we did his birthday party at our city's indoor pool.
6th birthday was done at a magic shop - big hit
7th birthday - bowling.

Another big hit around here is Lazer-X, it's a Lazer Tag/video game place - kids have a great time.

and the kids can go and make their own sundae......we all loved it....

You might look into a local roller skating rink too. They usually haev party rooms and aren't too expensive. Skating also gives the kids a great way to burn off all that extra energy. :D

We have a pool party at a local inn. DH works for them so it doesn't cost us anything but normally would be $150 for 10 kids, bring your own cake. Kids love it and we get to relax by the pool. ::yes:: This year will be our fourth pool party but we've also done bowling too.

My kids are B/G twins and next year (8yo) they may want separate parties. If so I'm considering an indoor baseball center for DS and a local live theatre for DD - each can bring a few friends and then probably pizza afterward.

I know when I shop for a home party I spend at least $200 at the grocery store alone, so spending a up to that amount but not having to work my tail off or have my house trashed it's worth every penny. It's also nice to just relax rather than run around.

We've been to several indoor bday parties... bowling alleys, Build a Bear, a Swim Center and the Movies are just a few!

We went to one today at a putt-putt course..it was real nice..I think it was a 5th birthday party though...

Roller Skating Rink was a fun place too..:D

aprilgail2- What is Wood Kingdom? Just curious

My friend just had her 7 year old's party at the movie theater. They ate in the snack bar (pizza then cake) and played games in the arcade for 30-45 minutes before the movie started. What about the new Disney movie?

It would be easy because the kids would have to sit still and remain quiet during the movie.;)

These are the places we've had birthdays.

Discovery Zone
Chuck E. Cheese
Children's Museum
The Zoo-included cake and admission to zoo
Ben and Jerry's (a 4th or 5th birthday would be better than a 6th, though)-they made ice cream and played games, tie dyed tshirts, too.
Have hired magician for birthday at home -very good, but I wouldn't do it again.
Bowling Alley that also has Laser Tag, bumper cars and simulator rides )-that was a favorite
Little Gym-kidsliked it A LOT. 6 or 7 would be limit, though, i think--for interest. Downside was kids didn't interact with eachother. The little gym staff had them SO organized, that they were CONSTANTLY doing something. But, they weren't bored.

This year, though, I'm cutting costs. .. my son's bday is next month, and I still haven't decided what we're doing, yet. We belong to a club, though, that has an indoor pool and I think they do birthday parties. Since we're members, maybe that cost won't be too bad.
