.

Not to help in making a decision here, but if you are satisfied with your current furniture and just not the looks of it, you could get covers for them.

Ever look at buying lightly used furniture? Great savings, then maybe you can do both.

I would look to do an inexpensive makeover - slip cover, maybe some new pad rolled out. If that won't work for whatever reason then I would bite the bullet and do the Disney Visa, and pay it off quickly and then save like mad and hope for a bargain that makes it possible to still do the trip.

I would go to WDW. Can't you wait until the tax return for the furniture? Or do both. Find someone who has free financing/no payments for 6mo's and then pay it with the tax return. :)

Well, we wanted to go to WDW this year, but just can't do it.
We have one starting college and one that needs braces.
So, what did we do tonight? Went out and bought new living room furniture! Are we nuts?

A local furniture place is going out of business, so we got a good deal, not great, but it will be nice to have new furniture.

Good luck on your choice.

WDW here we come...Dec 2005.....

I wouldn't be able to enjoy a WDW trip knowing I had to return home to worn out furniture. :worried: I realize many on the board don't share my feeling, but my living situation comes before something I consider a "frill".

Well i always think that in however many years, I won't remember what my couch looked like (or whatever material thing it is) but I will remember my travels. Of course that may be easier to justify because with a toddler, a preschooler, and a puppy any new furniture I got wouldn't look new for long!

I would have to go with the furniture.

If the furniture is bad enough to bother you I'd have to say, get the furniture.

Personally I would pick the vacation, and did for many, many years :D

To me the travel time spent with my family is much more important than the things that I have in my house.

Not everyone feels the same way but then that is for them to decide.

I would pick WDW.

I can't envision my children looking back fondly at the year we bought new furniture.

But a WDW trip??? They WILL remember.

Of course, any new furniture in this house will promptly be destroyed by my 3 kids, so that also factors into my decision . . .

I would choose the furniture unless it was my only chance ever to go. We went to WDW on our honeymoon and again with the kids on for our 10th anniversary. I had my couch before we got married so it was 15 years old when I replaced it, but I chose furniture this year over a pricier vacation.

So, while I would definately choose good vacations over getting new furniture every couple of years - there comes a point when it's time to choose the furniture! I live with my furniture every day. I've had my new stuff for several months and it still makes me happy every time I walk in the room.

My first couch was bought with money I brought home with me from a trip to Europe. I had told myself that if I was frugal enough to come home with money, I'd spend it on a couch - and I did.

Either way though, I'd probably wait rather than finance anything - unless you can get a zero interest and pay it all before interest sets in.

But Park hopper passes aren't very comfortable to sit on, so...OOOHHH, I can't believe I'm SAYING these WORDS!!!....I'd go with the furniture. WHEW!!! There, I said it. That wasn't so bad....much.

One of my cousins just had to make the same decision this year...buy new furniture or go to WDW...he bought furniture and ahs regretted it ever since. He told me he wishes he had gone to WDW and saved a little at a time then bought new furniture....

I for one like the slip covers idea.

I had to choose between a much needed new computer or WDW, and I chose WDW. Very good choice...

Sorry -- You're asking for advise from a very biased group of people. Does Ethan Allen have some kind of a forum? At least the new furniture would have a chance! :teeth:
