60 Minutes- could they be any more biased?

Not the poster you quoted, but I wouldn't say they have no grip on reality. Rather, they've griown accustomed to a media echo chamber for decades, that has selectively reported and distored the news to conform with the liberal agenda.

Why else would there be so much outrage over Fox? It's only ONE news outlet out of thousands.

I was sitting in a waiting room at a hospital in Pensacola, filling out the form and I could hear the news on TV. This was the week of the Democratic conv., sorry don't remember which day, anyway they were talking about something that happened the night before and I start to realize that what they are saying isn't what happened because I had watched it, so I look at the TV and it is Fox news. This may just be one small item but they were not telling it like it happened. I only wish the news was distorted with the liberal agenda because then we wouldn't have gone to war with Iraq, maybe Bush would have lost. If what you all are saying is true the country should be totally leaning toward the left and last time I looked it wasn't.

Who claims that CBS is unbiased? I've only seen the Right say that Fox is some kind of journalistic beacon of truth, I don't recall ever hearing that CBS is somehow perfect.

As for the soldier's letter, I agree that it's a shame that the poor fellow's letter was cut short. I was impressed that he spoke of helping the Iraqi people and not the usual nonsense about WMD and terrorists. I think it's wonderful that he wanted to help the Iraqis so much.

It's really quite amazing that liberals get so upset at FNC and their "conservative bias". They've had a grossly uneven playing field for decades, and they begrudge us one measly little network.

I have no bias as I am a registered independant, who also works for FOX, but not FNC....

I do laugh at "measly little network"..... FNC is THE BIGGEST cable news outlet by a pretty good margin. :teeth:

So, you're rolling eyes at a polite response? Ok, next time, I'll be rude, just like you.

Polite? Okay, if you say so. And if I had a dollar for every right wing rolled eye I have recieved, I'd be as rich as Rupert Murdoch. Oh, and by the way, the rolled eye wasn't meant to be rude, it was meant to convey utter incredulity at your response. My neighbors son just got back from serving his country in Iraq. He is a Democrat and loves to watch CNN. I guess I should go over there tomorrow and tell him just how stupid you think he is!

I never said he was stupid, but if you want to, go ahead.

Can anyone out there please give us 10 positive things this administration has done so far. Just list 10 things, that's not so much to ask is it? All I hear from the right is what a great president Bush is, so actually creating a list should be a snap. And 10 positive things is just one every 6 months.

There's already a thread about this... go find it.

Where's that "nashing of teeth" and "rending clothing" smilie when you need it?

Oh well, this'll do:

So you can't come up with even one. Thanks for reaffirming what I already knew about this corrupt and treasonous administration.

While we're on the subject of outrage against media bias, I just thought I'd remind everyone of another ongoing thread;

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=944622&page=1&pp=15&highlight=condi

In it, there was a photo of Condi Rice that was altered by USA today, and the following posters had the following reactions in the thread;

JMD said "Perfect example of the liberal media bias. Another example is the fact that this story isn't getting that much press. Just imagine if FoxNews ever photoshopped a picture of Hillary. The media would foaming at the mouth."

Laz said "I find it hard to believe anyone would stoop this low!"

DawnCt1 said "There is such visciousness on the left that they will stoop to the lowest form, subliminal suggestion, to advance their agenda."

Lyeag said "At this point, nothing the media does to try to hurt this administration shocks me."

Since then, the posters have been asked to comment on this deliberately altered photo that Fox News published during last fall's first presidential debate that made George Bush appear to be roughly the same height as John Kerry. In reality, Kerry is five inches taller than Bush.

http://www.foxnews.com/photo_essay/photoessay_168_images/debate_handshake_350.jpg

The aforenamed posters were asked to repeat their statements, but in the interests of fairness and integrity to make the same accusations against Fox News and the right wing media. As of this posting, several days later, none of these posters have been since heard from on that thread.

My apologies for going slightly off topic about perceived liberal media bias in this thread.

Seeing as I didn't go back to the thread after the first page, I had to go back and look. Granted, the height thing is an alteration, but it doesn't try to make anyone look insane or demonic. Does that change the fact it was altered? No, and it is wrong. Just as perjury is perjury is perjury no matter if we are talking about Scooter or Clinton.

What I consider to be positive would not be in your eyes so why would I even bother? I believe he has done many positive things, as well as not attended to some things I think are important, but I refuse to debate with someone who has such an obvious hatred of the man that would cloud his ability to see both sides.

I could not agree with you more. Thank you for your response!

Well that's what I'm asking. What do you consider to be 10 positive things. You stated that "he has done many positive things" so it should be easy.

I personally think the man is a traitor and a criminal and should be treated as such. I'm kinda funny that way....I hate traitors to my country. I hate people that murder our service men and women for lies and greed. I just want to know what the minority of Americans that support this man think is so wonderful about him.

Convince me otherwise.

I think what is lost on everyone is the fact that we live in a time that a 22 kid felt he needed to write a letter predicting his own death…….these are sad times

When this country was up in arms over a blow job, every media outlet was jumping on the spin bandwagon. (BTW - totally off subject, but the Republicans spent 60 million 'investigating' a consensual sexual act, while the special prosecutor in the Plame affair has only spent 750 thousand - where is the bias here?)

To be 100% fair, it was 60 million to investigate the "cover up" of a consensual sexual act. Gee, a guy cheats on his wife and lies so she doesn't find out about it...unheard of!

Now, Clinton shouldn't have cheated to begin with, and once it was clear he was found out, should have just said "Yeah, I cheated. I apoligize to my wife and daughter for the hurt I've caused. Now can we get on with running the country?" He didn't, and he's 100% at fault for that. But to spend all that time, money, and effort to prove that a man lied to cover up an affair is just STUPID.

Now, conversly, investigating if a CIA operative was illegaly outed is a justified use of resources. Maybe it didn't happen, maybe she wasn't an agent, maybe no laws were broken. But wouldn't it be great to find out one way or the other? Wouldn't it be great for Bush and the Reps if everyone was cleared of all accusations? Wouldn't it be great if a crime was commited that those responsible where punished? Wouldn't it be great if our CIA personel could be confident that they won't be put in danger if their politics conflict with the Administration's?

Now, CBS and/or 60 Minutes may be biased (don't watch them myself so I have no opinion) but to pretend that FN is NOT is just putting your head in the sand.

I get my tv news from CNN, and read ABCNews and the Chciago Trib online. I've tried watching FN (really gave it a go for a few months) but just couldn't stomach it. Sometimes they'd hit something dead on, but most of the time I just shook my head.

Now, if most of the media truely IS biased to the left (I don't think so, personaly, but for the sake of arguement) then there is nothing wrong with a network slanted to the right. Even if the media is totaly neutral (and I'm not so inocent as to presume that, either!) it would STILL be okay for FN to slant to the right. But to claim "fair and balanced" when it is NOT is silly at best and false and misleading at worst.

So you don't think anyone else during WWII did the same thing? Highly doubtful. Lord, my own husband wrote a just in case letter before he left to go over so I wouldn't have to deal with his mother over where he wanted to be buried. He didn't have some huge looming feeling of dread over going, he just wanted to write it "Just in case" so those he loved had one less thing to worry about.

I love it! :wave2: Thanks Chicago526. From now on I will say "Fox News - silly at best, false and misleading at worst." Talk about truth in advertising! :rotfl2:
