Has the 60 day rule been abolished. I was just on the DVC website and it stated:

This change is effective immediately, so you now may book and travel on reservations at Disney Vacation Club Resorts, World Passport Collection destinations or any of the three Disneyland Resort hotels during the last 60 days of your Use Year. Remember that you may make reservations at the Disneyland Resort Hotels anywhere from 11 months to two days prior to arrival.

Am I interpreting this wrong? :confused3

Booking at and traveling to DVC resorts and World Passport resorts in the last 60 days has always been allowed. Previously we could not do this at the DL resorts. That has recently changed, but is still in effect for the WDW onsite resorts for stays using points.

Ahhh...I see. I got my collection names confused. I took "World Passport Collection" to mean "Disney Collection." The 60 day ruled is a problem for me at times. I though it was gone. Darn!

Doc, though you have far more experience with this than I do, although this is the current policy apparently with respect to the World Passport resorts, both of my contracts and supporting documents from 2000 and 2002 explicitly forbid last 60 day reservations for the World Passport Collection also, so this, too, would appear to be a change that occurred at some point.

The II component of the World Passport Collection depends only on depositing DVC points with MS. During the last 60 days of your Use Year you can still (based on availability) make reservations at DVC resorts which is exactly what DVC needs to do with the deposited points. The Concierge Collection, The Adventure Collection, tTe Disney Collection ( now with exception of the DL resorts), and the Buena Vista Trading Company portion of the World Passport Collection are still covered by that policy. The reason for the policy is that for those options (DL exception noted) DVC needs to reimburse the non-DVC option using cash generated by renting the points used. No cash is used for World Passport (II) exchanges since it's a direct trade of accommodations between the programs.

There is a second component of the World Passport Collection that uses the Buena Vista Trading Company for exchanges to Club Cordial and Club Intrawest resorts. The 60 day rule DOES apply to that component - since the same cash policy exists for those options. These limitations are all covered in the DVC Vacation Planner.

This is certainly a confusing issue in the DVC programs and has caused a lot of questions over the years. I hope this helps to clarify! :sunny:
