Hi,

One of the resales we just closed on had a few very extremely distressed points that we figured would just expire, but I wanted to confirm first.

We have a Sep UY BWV contract which had 9 2003 UY points that were banked to the 2004 UY, and so will expire on Aug 31, 2005. I got that part.

Now, the 60-day rule that points in a given UY can not be used to reserve a Disney collection (as well as some of the other collections) within the last 60-days of its UY includes the DVC villas, right?

So, basically, now that it's mid-June, if those 9 little points are not used within the next 2 weeks, I'll be within 60-days, and they'll go bye-bye, right?

Thanks in advance.

I believe that they will. I would try to rent them out to anyone that has last minute ideas or changes to plans. Unforunatley I am not the expert on those kinds of issues because I always use all of my points!!

If I am understanding this correctly, you have 9 points that are regular points (not reservation points) that were banked into your 2004 use year. They MUST be used by August 31, 2005, but there is no stipulation on not using them at a DVC resort in the last 60 days. Those points are good right up through August 31, 2005. If they are "reservation points" from a cancelled Disney Collection reservation, then they probably are useless unless you borrow 2005 points to add to them.

Actually, you can still make a reservation at a non-DVC resort for any date up thru August 31, 2005. Once you are within the last 60 days - you cannot make that reservation. You have about 2 more weeks to make a non-DVC reservation using those points.

The rule is there because DVC needs to be able to make a DVC reservation using those points to rent thru CRO for a cash ressie. At 60 days, any unreserved DVC rooms become available to CRO anyway, so the restriction uses the same timeframe.

You can make a reservation at a DVC resort at any time using those points but have to make a non-DVC before 60 days prior to their expiration.

Thanks for putting what I was trying to say in better words, Doc! I feel like my tongue was wrapped around my eye teeth, and I couldn't see what I ws saying! :)

Thank you very much for clarifying.

Diane -- yes, they were regular points, not reservation status points.

My main question (which WebmasterDoc cleared up) was whether "Disney collection" included the DVC resorts, because the 60-day rule applied to "Disney Collection" (as well as the other "collections".) So, apparently not, and now I know I have more than just 2 weeks to try to get rid of these 9 points.

Thanks again!
