Planning for mid May trip. Going to be there 7 nights, but trying to hold down expenses, so only planning on staying on site one night, primarily to potentially take advantage of EMH and the 60 day FP window.

Does a one night stay actually entitle you to 2 days of privileges, one for the check in date and one for the next day?

We get in at 7pm on Saturday night. I was planning on staying at DS Holiday Inn that night and doing our first park day on Sunday. However, is that sort of "wasting" that Saturday? Maybe we should stay somewhere else Saturday night and book the Holiday Inn for Sunday night? Would we still get the on site privileges for Sunday and also Monday that way?

Yes, for a one night stay, you would get 60 day FP+ booking privileges for your check-in and check-out day. With your scenario, I would book DS Holiday Inn for Sunday night.

So theoretically could I stay on site every other day and be able to do EMH every day?

Yes, but it’s a lot of packing and unpacking, and never having a room midday for a break because check in usually isn’t until 4.

Depending on your dates, you might be able to find something reasonable for the whole (or most of) the trip. I find staying on-site or in DS saves me the price of parking and car rental. So even if the room rate is higher, the overall cost isn’t. But that presumes we all fit in one hotel room. What are your dates?

Getting in on Saturday, May 16. I have a ton of IHG points, so sticking with IHG hotels. Part of the story is also that we can get a bedroom suite at a hotel a little farther away. That is helpful as my father (69) is going with me (42) and daughters (17) and (8). Dad snores like a freight train, but of course doesn't know how bad it is. So, the girls will be able to sleep without earplugs peacefully in their own beds. Lol.

Well, if that's the case, good sleep is more important. Do what you need to do to get that. I can deal with rope drop, crowds, and long lines if we're all rested. If my husband or kids don't get enough sleep, then they're going to be cranky pants, and there's no FP in the world that will compensate for that.

Also, we'll be there at the same time. While I know that hotel occupancy rates don't necessarily correlate directly to bodies in the park, there's plenty of room availability on Disney's site and through discount 3rd party sellers, so I'm hoping this means it won't be super crowded.
