Not sure I understand your question. Are you referring to Disney granting 60 day FP access to select Disney Springs area good neighbor hotels?

Why would Disney extend this to those hotels. They are viewed by most people I've ever encountered to be not only, not part of Disney but almost as a second rate option. Not saying this is accurate but that's what I've always gotten the sense of, or been flat told as such. Disney doesn't really have their hands in the profits of these places, etc. So by making them more appealing from the aspect of lower rate and getting a benefit only those who would be on property had, doesn't this actually devalue the Disney properties in a variety of ways, including why cost of stay. I know that people who are looking to save money on these trips will gladly hop away from Disney property to these places, thus impacting the value of Disney property, supply/demand, etc.

Disney are being paid by these hotels for the FP+ privilege. Do not kid yourself that money is not changing hands.

there is a deal between WDW and the hotels, and the hotels are paying for it. Probably with large bills. So they can market an advantage to their prospective guests.

A number of guests who would have otherwise stayed at a WDW resort will doubtless choose the "good neighbor" hotels to save a buck. But a lot won't.

As PP's have mentioned, WDW just found a way to further monetize FP+ with the addition of the good neighbor hotels. So what they may be losing in occupancy (which probably isn't much), they are gaining in payment from these hotel chains. The good neighbor hotels still cannot offer DME, 180+10 ADR's, etc., so while this may be a small perk, it still doesn't compare to an onsite stay, IMHO.
