6 Year Old Trapped in a Balloon. Boy Found Alive - Hiding at Home!
:hug:wow that is such great news.....

I am curious to find out how this unfolds.
I'm guessing he'll be grounded until he's 30. At least.

Just kidding. You're allowed to do that when the story has a happy ending. :)

Oh thank goodness. I really wish I jumped right to the last page of this thread. After reading Mickey's Minion's post about him probably falling out mu stomach has been in a knot. I'm so glad he is safe and sound.

Leave it to that particular news anchor to report that kind of stuff. I should have known better as he tends towards sensationalist journalism.

But even during the press conference, the one the sheriff got paged during, the sheriff was saying that the house had been searched twice, the family interviewed several times, and they were pretty sure he wasn't in the house, which left him in the field.

Then the beep, beep, beep - he looked at his pager, ignored it and then a deputy poked his head around the corner and called out - "he is at the house."

This is one of those instances: "Thank goodness you're alive!!! Now I'm going to kill you!"

So glad he's okay; I can't imagine what those parents went through.

The parents are probably so glad he's alive he might get treats instead of a lecture. That is, it will probably be pure happiness until the parents are presented with a bill for all of the public servant's time. That would be a hefty bill! I wonder if that will happen this time. It seems to be a growing trend.

They are saying that the first report came into authorities at 11:30 this morning. So, that means it has easily been been about four hours. I hate to say it, but I don't know of many 6 year olds that would stay hiding for that long. A little kid would get tired and want to be home. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't think he is hiding.

This is one instance where I am so very glad to be wrong!

I am on a TV website...they are reporting this family was recently on WIFE SWAP!!! Interesting. The Richard Heene family.

ruh roh---on HLN--they are ummmm....going to town now on the parenting aspects of these kids.

It's going to hit the fan!!!!!

Wife Swap Heene Family
The family of the missing Falcon Heene, the 6-year-old boy who was thought to be in a weather balloon earlier today, appeared on the reality TV show Wife Swap. The Heene family was described in that show as adventurous and as a family living on the edge. The family often sleeps in their clothes so that they can get up and go when weather strikes. Richard Heene, the father is a storm chaser and has reported stories as an iReporter on CNN. He is excitable and appears to love adventure. In that same wife swap episode, the kids are described as having no table manners and throw themselves around the house.

Ironically, the family was matched with the Martel family who is a “safety first” type of family. The father of the Martel family runs a child proofing business that identifies dangers and risks to children, and attempts to keep them safe. I’m guessing the father of the Martel family is saying I told you so today.

UPDATE: 4:15 PM MST: CNN just reported that Falcon Heene has been found alive and well. He was hiding in the attic in a box and thought he was in trouble.

I've watched the footage of it landing over and over again.

Exactly how did they know he wasn't inside of it when it landed?

First off, I am THRILLED that he has been found safe!!!!

Secondly, I hope we find out more on what happened. I hope that these boys didnt make this huge hoax.

Again, VERY happy this had a happy ending.:thumbsup2

I think this is one of those moments where you hug the living daylights out of your kid - and then strangle them.. LOL :rotfl:

::yes:: Yes, this is one time when they should take all the money that went into searching for the kid and chasing after the balloon out of the kid's allowance for the next 30 years. ;) Glad he's safe. :cool1:

Well to me it looked all sealed up, like it was part of the entire top part- didn't look habitable.

CNN had some eyewitness vidoe adn the guy who filmed it talked about it--

It landed, they weighted the balloon down and popped it. Then they used a knife to cut into the base and were kind of stumped at that point when they found nothing.

Yes, that was confusing as I was watching CNN...they kept saying they hoped Falcone had air...it was confusing. Then later it was stated that Falcone was in a basket that was attached to the balloon and the basket fell off the balloon...the balloon kept flying and flying. Then they started the all out search on the ground for the basket...and now Falcone was never on board. No sure what happened to the basket.

When I read that his brother saw him go into the balloon, I had a feeling he may not have been in at all. Glad he's safe and sound.

Wow...glad he is safe! Scary and crazy! Makes the time dd hid from me at Target, prompting a "Code Red," look like nothing!:rotfl2:

I was praying and hoping that he was not in the balloon. I wonder if he could of jumped out the minute the brother turned to run in the house.

Hmmm, they also made a music video. If this was some sort of publicity stunt I think Dad should have to stay in a box in the attic for a long, long time....

;)

Could this have been a publicity stunt by the family?
