We are going on our first trip and would love advice on what not to miss in all the parks for our 6 year old. Must dos!
We want to do all the parks mk, ak, mgm, and epcot.
Please list thanks Diane

Go to any bookstore and get a guidebook. I recommend Birnbaums Official for Kids, by Kids. There isn't enough room here to list all the attractions that a six year old would like. It would be easier to list the few that had height restrictions. You could read what each ride was about, and decide whether it was appropriate for your child. Every one is different.

I agree with the above... It would be very hard to list them all. I have a 6yo boy that will ride anything he is tall enough for. It depends on what your child can handle or enjoy...

Anyway, to try and help you a little bit (if I can)... Some of his favorites - which we cannot, under any circumstances, miss... He LOVES Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, the TTA, Pirates of the Carribean, Test Track, Star Tours, Tower of Terror, & the Indiana Jones stunt show. He also enjoys all of the 3D attractions, although the glasses don't always fit him very well. None of us in our family are that enthralled with AK, so we don't usually spend much (any) time there. The one time we went, we went on the safari and rode Dinosaur. He thought the safari was OK, but he did not like Dinosaur at all.

We're going in just a couple of weeks  ... This will be our 4th trip (with him) in 2 1/2 years and he's finally tall enough for Space Mountain!! Woo hoo!! He is sooooo excited!

Hope this helps a bit... I'm sure in a few weeks we'll have to add Space Mountain and Mission:Space to his list of must-dos!

My six year old girl loves it all: the rides, the shows (Hoop Dee Doo Revue is a must for our family). Basically, it's Disney, you can't miss.
Have fun!

You didn't indicate whether or not your child is a boy or girl. Since I have a girl that age, I will tell you what my experience is. First of all, you need to allow plenty of time for waiting in lines to see the princesses. The princesses no longer roam around for you to happen by. They are in assigned areas at assigned times. You have to know when and where and get in line early enough for your daughter to greet them. One great way around this is arranging a PS to Cinderella's Royal Table, where you get to eat breakfast with the princesses in the castle. This is a royal treat! You have to call exactly 90 days before your visit though, so some real planning is involved, but worth it!

Your daughter is most likely tall enough to ride almost everything. However, talk over things with your child. Are they afraid of the dark, do they like surprises, what about motion? Find out what boundries your child has. I would guess your child will want to spend a lot of time in Fantasyland and toon town.

Also, while it is late, do try to attend Spectromagic. It is a WOW! I loved watching Spectro, but I loved watching my daughter watch Spectro more.

Again, get into the spirit of the whole thing. Relax, have a great time and soak it all in!

I'll try to list what I think your 6yo would love at each park:

MK - all of Fantasyland, Tomorrowland Speedway (if that's what it's still called, I can't remember), Buzz Lightyear, Jungle Cruise, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion

Epcot - Journey to Imagination is a must!

MGM - Muppet Vision 3D, Beauty and the Beast show, Voyage of the Little Mermaid

AK - Festival of the Lion King, Kali River Rapids, Kilamanjaro Safaris

Those are the musts that i can think of off the top of my head. Definitely get a guide book, they have descriptions of all the rides. I still use it and i've been 7 times!

My six year old daughter's favorite rides/shows are:

MK: BTMRR (hands down the #1 ride in her book), Splash, all of Fantasyland, Aladdins magic carpet, jungle cruise, HM, Buzz, PotC

Epcot: TT, JIYI, Ellen's Universe of Energy, El Rio de Tiempo

MGM: Muppetvision 3D, Backlot Tour, Star Tours, Voyage of the Little Mermaid (show)

AK: KS, Triceratop Spin (aka Dumbo), FotLK (show)

Have fun!

I actually checked this book out from my local library, just to see what kind of information it contained. I was pleasantly suprised and my 6 yr old (she'll be 7 in two weeks) loved it. I had to make sure she didn't write it (since it was a library copy), as there are a lot of activities inside.

I still find myself glancing at it perioidically. It will definitely be purchased as we get closer to our trip in December.

3 things my 5 year old nephew won't stop talking about, the Dumbo ride, the Dinosaur ride (any dino ride for him, he thinks of them all as the same ride no matter what I say!) & finding stitch!

Buzz Lightyear space ranger spin is a favorite for the little kid in all of us!! ;)

Yeah, ever since my daughter found out about the Dumbo ride, she has been talking about it non-stop, and we still have 9 months to go before the trip!

We went for the first time last year and our then 6 you ds had a blast! We started with Epcot which seems the least like an amusement park with rides. They do have several great ones and he really enjoyed the Living Seas, he wasn't to happy with some statements they made in the opening film you watch, if we go there this year we will skip the film and go right into the attraction. He also thought it was really neat visiting all the different countries. He kept saying "I went around the whole world in one day". We then did AK, he is an animal fanatic and at home if you give him two choices, the zoo or another activity, he will pick the zoo every time. Next day we did MGM and saved the MK for last. It was great, we rode lots of rides and saw almost all the shows. Four days was definately not enough time to see everything though. Hope you have a great trip!
