Am looking for suggestions and maybe a little reassurance. My mom, myself and my youngest 2 kids (8 & 11) will be going to Disney later this year and I'm starting to worry about how she will manage. She's got a number of health conditions and I'm worried she's either going to be miserable or want to stay at the hotel most days. She has a chronic lung disease, a chronic form of leukemia and anxiety among other things. She's also having double cataract surgery this month as a result of being on high dose long term steroids. We've already determined that she'll be renting a scooter of some sort. She definitely needs one but I'm worried she's not going to be able to navigate in crowds, especially with the anxiety. Originally my oldest 2 were coming and could have taken turns pushing a wheelchair, that's not an option now. We're also staying at Bonnet Creek and will be using Uber to get to the parks and back. I'm thinking it will be easiest just to rent at the parks but how difficult is it to really use them throughout the day? Is there another option we may be overlooking?

I only have time for a short replay but have you thought about using a roller

Depending on the time of year it may not be the crowded

now I have some more time,

it sounds like your mom needs some type of mobility device, I know someone that had cataract surgery in both eyes ( the dr did them a week apart) she was in her lat 60 early 70 and was fine to drive 2 days after your mom may find her vision is a lot better after surgery ( but I guess this could be the person too)

if you do go an ECV way here is some suggestion for you ( and no I have ever used one I can not due to a vision problem, but my friend dose) I would try to go a rope drop and then wait about 5 minutes ( sometimes not even that long) for the big crowed to leave. if main street is very crowded go in to the Emporium ( SP?) and take this all the up to the exit. you mom may find lines to be easer since there will be no one cutting her off just leave some extra room between her and the guest infant of her. I would do some show they have then at all the park like at the MK carousel of progress, country bear where she can stay in her ECV and then do a few rides and then show,

depending on when you go if the parks are opened late you may want to take an afternoon break at a nearby hotel there are a few close to the MK that you can get to by monorail the GF has live music or take this time for a sit down meal. also first aid is a great place to lie down they have them at each park.

a few other thing that she may be able to use and I do not know how much or little walking she can do. is she can use a wheel chair and use it as a walker and walk form land to land and then some one could push her in the lands or you could do it the other way where someone pushes her between lands. or you could use a roller but this would just give her a set to sit in she should be pushing it. I have seen some that you can sit and have someone push you but I have heard it really is not that practical

I hope some of this helped you

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I didn't really consider a rollator but she's going to talk to her doctor as to what he thinks may be the best option for her. I was looking at the mobility section on the pinned post and think a scooter that can break down may work too. They seem a little smaller.

Someone that uses a scooter can help you better but I would have her go to the local CVS Walgreen Walmart target that have a scooter and have her use one there if you think you are going that way this will let her have done practice with one all so practice at the hotel some with the scooter you rent to get a feel of it

We were there last week and it was pretty low crowds. We move really slow these days and it was noon most days before we got there and all the ECVs were gone. I would rent off-site if you still want to rent.
