Me- 39yr old (Shh-It's a secret) Trip planner
DH-45 yr old -Along for the ride
DS-15yr old -Typical teenager (You people who have one know what I mean)
DS- 8 yr old- My favorite travel companion (meaning he wanted to do everything I wanted to do without complaining)
We got up and had breakfast in the Club lounge. I liked having breakfast there each day because it was quick and easy. My DH prefers a larger breakfast and would have liked something hot, but since the breakfast was included in the room cost, he didn't complain too much. We tried to time our breakfasts to avoid the crowds. The staff told us that the best time to come is when they open at 7:30. It gets really busy at around 9:30. We usually got there around 8:30 or 9:00 because we wanted to sleep in a little. There were only 3 tables to sit at and we often had to either wait a few minutes for one or sit at the little chairs in the tv rooms which had little tables attached to them. Anyway, after breakfast my 8yr old DS and I headed down to the Recreation Dept. to pay for our cabana. It was Friday and we had reserved Cabana #1 for movie night. I paid the staff member and she said our cabana was all ready for us. My DS and I walked out to the cabana to have a look before heading back to meet up with DH and DS. There was a sign on the table saying it was reserved for our family. There were 6 towels and the fridge had 4 cans of coke and 2 cans of sprite as well as 2 bottled waters. I couldn't wait to get back to the cabana, but for now it was time to go to IOA. We met up with DH and 15yr old DS and headed for the water taxi. I should also mention that this turned out to be the second perfect weather day in a row for us! I was so worried that it would be bad weather on the day we rented our cabana, but we lucked out. Nothing but sunshine and just enough fluffy white clouds to give a little relief from the sun now and then! We entered IOA and headed for Jurassic Park. We rode JP River Adventure and got soaked! It was hot, so we dried off in short order. We headed to the Discovery Center, which I found somewhat boring. We then headed to The Lost Continent and did Posiedon's Fury. We loved it. It was a really neat show. The actor who was playing the part of our tour guide was great. After this we decided to go get lunch at City Walk. We ate at Nascar. My DH and I both ordered the Chicken and pasta. This turned out to be one of our favorite meals. I think the kids both ordered cheeseburgers. We used our meal vouchers from the package we booked and our bill only came to $1.65! The server said the gratuity was included, but we gave him extra because we got very good service and the food was wonderful. After lunch we headed back to the HRH to use our cabana. We stopped at our room to change into our swimsuits and I put some extra waters, diet cokes and some cans of Miller Light that DH had bought into my very large beach bag. When we paid for our cabana, the staff member never said anything about not being allowed to bring in outside beverages to the cabanas, but I remembered reading on some posts that this wasn't allowed. I have a very guilty conscience, and I warned DH to be careful with those beers! I felt like I was some pampered socialite lounging in my private lounger in front of my private cabana. The server came around and I ordered a banana daquari from him. Boy was it good! I felt like I was in heaven. I had to fight the urge to call out "Ohh, Cabana Boy" which I had been threatening my family I was going to do. I only ordered one more of these yummy drinks because they were really expensive. They add a 15% gratuity to every order, so be aware! I was in a really good mood, so I gave him a little extra each time. I had brought down our cribbage board and DH and I played a couple games at our cabana table while the kids swam. What a relaxing day! The only thing that put a damper on it was when a staff member (I think he was the pool manager) walked by and said that he noticed the can of Miller Light in our cabana and that outside beverages were not allowed. I said Ok and threw the empty can away. Why he was peeking inside our cabana in the first place, I don't know, but DH was really mad about that. He felt it was an invasion of our privacy. I think it was the last can of beer anyway, so it wasn't that big of a deal. We decided to order dinner at the cabana. Since there hadn't been a server around for quite a while, I used the phone in the cabana to call the Beach Club. I was told they would send our server right over. Fifteen minutes later still no server. The manager who had approached me about the beer earlier came by and asked me if my server had been by yet. I wasn't sure how he even knew I had asked for a server, but I said no, he hadn't. He said he would go to the Beach Club and send him right out. A minute later he came by again and assured me our server was on his way. It was actually another 10 minutes or so, but no big deal. My DH and I ordered nachos to split, my 15yr old DS ordered the chicken quesadilla, and my 8yr old DS ordered a pepperoni pizza. We were all happy with our food. The movie came on at about 8:30. It was Batman and Robin. We were told we would be able to see the movie really good from our cabana, but not so. Our view was obstructed by the heavy foliage in front of our area. We were able to position ourselves so we could see okay if we sat way to the left of our area, but I didn't think the movie was that great anyway. 8ry old DS liked it, though. He and my DH ended up watching it from the pool. After the movie, we went back up to our room to go to bed. All in all, it was a really good day!
