We are going to DL and DCA in 6 days. One day for each park, taking advantage of the 2Fer deal.

Any last minute Tips or helpful information?

Our group includes:
2 mid-age adults(42 & 46), 2 senior citizens (64 & 69), 1 teenager (me;18), and 1 child (7yo).

We will be renting a wheelchair for my grandma. She has constant pain in her hip, knee, and right foot. Does anyone have experience with traveling with someone who used an ECV or used an ECV themselves?

Originally this trip was just for my grandparents but recently my little sister (7yo) has been recieving several awards at her school. She received the Citizenship Award for Respect (wow, a kid that's respectful! )and the President's Honor Roll Award (she even has her name on the schoo marquee (sp?)) and this trip is still a surprise. Any ideas on how to show her I am really proud of her? Besides going to DL/DCA:laughing:

Any other tips that maybe you have learned recently or advice? Thank you!

An ECV can be hard to control when you first start using one. If your Grandma has not used one before, I would NOT recommend using it in DL especially with other people around... ;) You would be MUCH better off with a regular wheelchair. JMHO.

Are you serious? with the ups and downs of the park it'd be more dangerous NOT to have an ECV. I just know that someone will accidentally let her go and there she is, zooming down the hill in New Orleans Square right into the harbor.;)

No, but she has had prior experience with an ECV, when we were at the mall. The kind where you twist the handle forward for speed. How are the ones at Disneyland?

If you are going to be there mid-week with lesser crowds, your grandma might be ok with an ecv. If you are going to be there on a weekend under more crowded conditions, a manual wheelchair will be more manuverable. Even if it got away from you, it's not going far in weekend crowds.

Yes it beats pushing a wheel chair but have her watch out for people

Some poeple are rude and walk right in front of them so user beware..

Have Fun

We are going Tuesday and Wednesday. Everyone (californians) should be back in school already. I know that Anaheim school districts spring break is this week so, the crowds should die down next week.

My DD's BF (18) has used an ECV for 3 DL vacations. He was able to maneuver without any problems...we did rent the scooter offsite from a medical supply company. It has a sportier look and is speedier than the DL's ECVs. He could adjust the speed of his scooter. And it was easy to use by just squeezing the handlebar grip and releasing it to immediately stop. We were just there over Spring Break and sometimes DD would sit on it along with her BF and she would drive....they never ran into anyone!

For your Sis: You can sneak over to City Hall and get an Honorary Citizen badge for her!

How many pins do you think they'll give me before becoming suspicious:rolleyes1 . You see I want to get Honorary Citizen buttons for me and my little sister, and 1st time pins for my grandparents, and maybe Family Reunion pins for all of us.

The CMs in City Hall are very nice...they asked us how many pins we wanted. DD got the BD button and we said only 2 Honorary Citizen badges...they probably would have given us more but we thought 2 was enough.

dohgusgus,

How awesome for your daughter! I bet she has a blast! I am a guy, but hopefully I can offer you some great ideas to show you how proud you are!

If she enjoys Aladdin, there is a musical "spectacular" at Disney's California Adventure. The show lasts for about 40 minutes. Add dinner and maybe a visit to a shop, and you could make it a special "Mommy & Me" time.

If she enjoys the fairy tales more than the action of Aladdin, there is also a Snow White musical in Disneyland at the Fantasyland Theatre. After the show, you could maybe take in the Snow White ride and have some dinner.

You can also visit a shop and let her pick out whatever she wants (within reason of course!)

I hope you have a wonderful time!

Oohh... we'll be there at the same time!
Have a blast!!! :)

My sister took my six year old daughter to Build a Bear for a special treat last time we were there. Mary stillremembers it with delight-we didn't have BAB here at the time so it was a big deal!
