6 days at VGF or split stay with BWV

I’ve got my welcome home stay reserved for Feb6 for 6 days. Originally I was only able to get 3 nights BRV studio and 3 in BWV garden studio. Then 3 nights at VGF standard view opened up and I swapped for the BRV. My last cash visit was at BCV and I really liked the walk to Epcot and DHS but we had lunch at VGF and figured a standard view studio was a deal I couldnt pass up.
Then the rest of the nights opened up at VGF. I grabbed them but didn’t cancel BWV yet. I live and work in NJ and if there’s still a quarantine from other states in February I won’t be able to go, but if I can, I’m having a hard time deciding whether a full 6 days is better or doing a split stay.

Any advice

I’m not a fan of split stays (I’ve done several, but always due to lack of points or availability)

But... Right now, the ability to avoid busses or driving to (3) parks would probably be enough to twist my arm.

6 days at VGF. If you were there longer (like more than 7), I might suggest a split stay.

I am generally a fan of split stays, so I'd split with an EP/HS resort to get a lot of walking in!

But: I think this also depends on the size of your group and how you travel. a 3-3 split is the bare minimum for me, because I like to unpack. But, since we are very light travelers/packers, and rope-droppers, we have no problem packing up early on move day, going to a park, and then leaving the park around or after dinner time to go to the new resort.

It depends if you like packing up and moving, number of kids, luggage, food and if you have a vehicle. First DVC stay, I say stay in one place and enjoy. You will be homeless for a while during a split stay. You can go to the other resort use the pool and amenities, but it’s just different since you can’t go to your room. You probably won’t want to leave VGF anyways. It’s pretty nice.

The VGF are fantastic, and definitely worth staying at for the full trip. There are so many great places to eat there and at the other monorail resorts.
However, the convenience of the BWV being right next to HS and EPCOT.... depending on how much time you would like to spend there, it's a tough decision to make. Good luck and have fun planning your trip!

I dispise split stays. I am going to book a 12-14 night stay for February and although I think it would be nice to do a split stay, I also think it would be wonderful to unpack and enjoy and relax the full two weeks.

For three nights, the first three days I would be thinking about where I am keeping things and not taking too much out since I have to repack.

I love GF and woukd hate to move after three days and possibly be homeless until 4 pm on moving day.

I would avoid doing a split stay. Some people like them I think its a hassle in practice and basically ruins half a day between the night before and morning of next day until you finally get a new room.

This is ultimately what got me to just cancel my CCV add-on contract and add a larger RIV contract instead. As I kept thinking it through I know I wouldn't want to spend a full vacation just at CCV and at the same time I wouldn't not want to stay in the Epcot area.

Also I read someone didn't get a room until after like 8pm the other day. Those are the stories that make me extra reserved about possibly doing split stays. If I could be guaranteed the ability to walk my bags from one room to another then I might do it.

I am not a split stay fan. I like to go and settle in. I love DVC at the GF! Floor four has a pristine laundry room. We pack half as much as we normally need and spend a bit of time doing laundry that might be taken up packing and moving. Just throw a few laundry pods in a shoe for safe transport and you are good to go. (No costly detergent to buy.) For short trips you may not even need to check bags. (No bag service for the transport from MCO. Less baggage at this time is a positive.) Have fun!

I love BWV and am not actually the biggest fan of VGF (didn't love the location but the room was very nice). That being said I think I would do the 6 days at VGF because you might not get that opportunity again since it tends to book up fast. I'm also not then biggest fan of split stays...I will do 2 nights at the beginning or end of a 7 day stay somewhere else if I need to but I prefer unpacking and feeling settled in.
That's my 2 cents! Good luck with your decision! Let us know what you decide to do!

I will be the voice of dissent here and vote for the split stay. Personally, I don't mind packing up to move, and the convenience of being able to WALK to HS and EP on those park days, plus the convenience of being able to WALK into the MK now, is 100% worth it. The only park you would need transport to is AK. I love the freedom of not having to stress about when a bus is going to come or whether I can get a Lyft, the removal of this stress is huge to me. I travel with kids and have now done two split stays without issue. One thing that helps is that I use packing cubes and pack my clothes for each stay in separate cubes, and the clothes for the second hotel don't get unpacked at the first, but I'm kind of a packing nerd that way.

I’d go with the split stay to mix things up. Especially with the proximity of HS and EP by staying at BWV.

Although I'm a big fan of split stays, I'm not inclined to do them for 3 and 3 However, knowing that you like the convenience of Epcot makes me tempted to recommend it However, I still think I'd stay with VGF My experience is that VGF is so hard to get, stay there when you can!

I am trying my own first split stay next month, 3 nights Poly then 4 nights Riv. I have never really split stayed before so I'm nervous, but I'm looking forward to easy transportation for 3/4 parks. Thanks for asking the question, so much good advice on here.

Because of availability when piecing my recent stay together, we started at VGF and went to beach club from there. Everyone was a little disappointed. VGF is so nice and is bigger that it is a bit of a downgrade so I would only do it if you can end at VGF!

Ok I think I’m now leaning to VGF for the 6 nights. Now we just need coronavirus to cooperate. If it doesn’t then I go through this all over again on January 31 trying to book for the week before Labor Day.

If you are planning to rope-drop HS and EP, I would vote for the split stay and then book your HS and EP days for the time you are BWV. I like to do split stays and then "play where I stay" as much as possible. The way we plan our trips, the only time we have to take buses is to AK and DS.

that's such a tricky choice. We are back from a split over Thanksgiving week, and we often do a split. I usually like them, but this time, not as much due to all the stuff we brought/packed up, and I spent a lot of time on our switch day dealing w baggage, etc. However, usually not an issue. Hubby can't stand split stays though. He wants to unpack/stay put. We did AKV first, and then our 'home' and most frequent place to stay, BWV. We LOVE the option to walk to HS/Epcot. Our HS day from AK, we didn't arrive anywhere near rope drop/opening taking the bus. walking from BWV, Hubby and son were first on ToT, and I only waited about 15 mins for Slinky. Plus nice to stroll over in the evenings. But we've never stayed at GF, so no opinions, but sure seems fabulous!!! One day hope to stay there!

For me, an absolute, unequivocal no-brainer, stay the whole time at VGF. Totally not worth the hassle of repacking and unpacking, especially for only a 6-night stay.
