6 Days at DLR?

Has anyone had a recent luck figuring out a way to extend a 5 day Park Hopper to 6 days? I've seen posts about having success at the ticket booths with supervisors approving, but those were a few years ago.

I can't get over how illogical it is for Disney to artificially lower the amount of time (and thus money) I'm going to spend on their property! With this system, the question isn't whether I'll go 5 days and pay full price for the 6th, its whether I will go 5 days and that is it! I suspect that is the case for a lot of people who aren't going to pay twice as much per day for their final day.

This was a hot topic of conversation on this forum shortly after Disney put their foot down. I'd be curious to see too if this rule has since been relaxed. However, I had asked when I was there in March of 2014 and was told that in no way, shape or form can you obtain a 6 day PH. Now I had an AP at the time so I wasn't technically asking to upgrade my ticket, but I was asking another question and was curious to hear that CM's answer. I do know that 6 day PH exist though as I believe some conferences or dance events will sell discounted 6 day passes to attendees and their families but as for just strolling up to the ticket booth and asking to add another day, I think the doors shut on that. There is the 10 day ticket but they are only sold to residents of Australia and New Zealand and I believe confirmation of residency is required when they show up at the park.

It might seem illogical but DLR is in no way desperate for guests, especially during the 60th Celebration. They also realize that the odds of you spending a lot of money on that very last day aren't likely big, since you can easily buy what you want during your 5 days anyway. I am sure they have crunched enough numbers to know that stopping hard at 5 days is not going to deter visitors. They also would rather open their doors to a new guest who is just getting ready to open their wallet.

But just the same, I'd be curious to see if anyone has had any success in recent months.

I am a little confused about the 5 day pass. No where have a seen anything longer than a 5 day pass. Also I have not seen anywhere to add a day to the 5 day pass. We are staying for 5 and because of our flights we will have 6 available days to be in the parks. Are we able to add a day at a reasonable price? We were thinking of taking a day off in the middle of the trip if we cannot add a day. Do the 5 days needs to be consecutive days or can we be in the parks 2 days, take a day off to go to Santa Monica pier and then go the remaining 3 days in a row on the remaining pass?

Thanks! I am so used to WDW where you get add days easily to your passes. I'm still learning the DL way!

You have 13 days to use the full park hopper once you first enter the park and they do not have to be consecutive days. You are not able to add to a 5 day to create a 6 day - you would have to buy either another 1 day pass or upgrade to an annual pass.

Disneyland is capped at 5 days. I haven't heard of adding a day beyond the 5th day. You can take days off between park visits. The back of your ticket will say something along the lines of valid for up to 14 days from first use. (I don't remember the exact number of days.) I love your idea of taking a day off in your trip. Also a wiggle day never hurts if everyone is exhausted after a couple days and you want some time out from the parks.

We ran into this in Nov. We ended up buying Deluxe AP and plan on returning within a year. We'll save about $400!

What is the reason that they capped passes at 5 days? You would think they would want people in the parks as much as possible. :confused3

They do, but they want them to pay for it!! The days of adding another day for a nominal fee are gone. The parks are busy and Disney doesn't need to offer incentives for people, or so it would appear. At least now everyone is getting the same answer unlike before.

Last time we had 4 days we took a break day in there for pool and just relaxing. Especially with 4 kids in tow, it really made it easier.

Yeah, but the Annual Pass is quite a bit more. We're coming from the East Coast with 8 people--there's no way we'll be back. Its not like its an either/or situation--they can take my money for a 6th day and somebody coming in for day 1! I'm sure the number of people who are coming from a long distance and want to be there for 5 days is relatively small, but it still seems kind of odd to me. We chose to visit DLR instead of WDW this time, and quite frankly with smaller children I actually think we'll be just as busy as we would be in Florida--hence my desire for an extra day.

I told my husband by purchasing an AP for $549, I was saving money. His reply was "How much is it costing, for you to save $50?"
He knew it would lead to additional trips for me and the grandkids. He's a good sport about my Disney Trip addiction.

With four grandkids that enjoy the parks as much as I do, I try to get all of them there at least once a year. This past year it took me three trips to get each of their schedules to fit a trip in.

I hope that DLR will open the gate a bit when Star Wars Land opens. Five days is not enough time and the AP won't work for those of us who come at holiday time when they are blocked.

Do they still take your picture if you have a 3 day PH or longer? I thought the main reason they didn't offer longer day tickets was from resellers. But maybe it is just to make more $ encouraging the APs.

FYI - we are from NZ and have purchased 10 day passes in 2009, 2011,2013, 2015 and have some for our 2016 trip. We have never been asked for proof of residency at the gates, but we do have obvious NZ accents.

I have seen multiple people here looking for a 6th day (especially overseas visitors) so you're not alone & I don't know why they've stuck with this model. It could be so few people want 6 days it's not worth it to DL to keep the option available.

I find 5 days perfect to see things at a relaxed pace. We hit rope drop (ok, we hit rope drop about 20 mins after the rope has dropped if I'm honest) and take a long afternoon break and return for evening. Once we added a day to our trip because we were so exhausted after 4 days we needed a break. It was great, we slept in, swam and went out to dinner. We were able to hit the parks super refreshed for our 5th day and I think we got a lot more out of it as opposed to 5 days straight through.

We always do a day off during our trip. hang out at hotel pool . go shopping at DTD. there is a indoor flea market with a free shuttle that we hit. as for no longer being able to buy longer than 5 days.. if Im correct in my memory.. I heard it was partly to stop people from selling their unused portion of the ticket. people would buy a ticket and either use a day or two and then sell it to other people or let others use it... or was that why they introduced the photos attached?? my brain is fog.. anyway its been awhile since they changed.. I Believe the only people now allowed longer tickets are Aussies and Kiwis... they have an agreement with Disney to sell passes with more days ..

Just to add to the "day off' idea. Our last two trips were on APs - so we were able to go into the parks every day, if we wanted. What I found happened though, was the getting things done on vacation syndrome. You take time off from work, and you don't make plans, you have a list of things you want to do around the house. You have two weeks off so you have lots of time to get it all done right? Then about 3 days before you go back to work you realize what happened to all the time I had and why didn't I get all the things done I set out to do?

Sometimes having too much time makes us inefficient and we end up being lazy, or as some will call it, relaxed, in our time there. This time around we are getting 5 day PHs but we are going to be very DLR focused on those 5 days - rope drop, 2nd star to the right and straight on til morning type approach. But on the two other days we will have no choice but to really take the day off so we can go flat out the other 5. I honestly felt we wasted a lot of time being able to go into the parks every day and there was almost this need to at least pop in and do a few rides or see a show.

Just another perspective...

Regarding the 5-day ticket limit...

At one time, Disneyland had up to 8-day park tickets (same price as 7-day tickets). What happened is that people started buying these hoppers, then selling partial days to people. So, with their 8-day hopper, they would sell 2-3 days or so, and get the tickets back, then resell for the remaining days (or use vouchers for partial packaged days). It was getting very blatant with people having signs as you got off the freeways for discounted tickets. Also, people were getting up to the ticket booths with tickets with someone else's name on them, or with tickets that didn't work. It got really bad, and then Disney cut the tickets/hoppers to 5-days and started requiring ID and pictures to match the tickets. So, it's been a couple of years now, and I don't see it going back.

Other people here had it right. Options are to get the 5-day tickets, and tickets for additional days, or upgrade to an annual pass. As long as the ticket is valid you can upgrade it and the price you paid will go towards the annual pass.

I bought that line of reasoning up to the point where they started adding the photos to all multi day tickets. Since they haven't started selling longer tickets again, I'm calling it a money grab.
