We got back from Windsor Hills 3 weeks and to sort out my depression of being home I have booked the flights to go back next year.

On trying to improve on this years holiday, which was excellent, I have been looking for a 6 bedroom villa with 5 bathrooms, 4 ensuite double rooms and one other bathroom. The 2 rooms not ensuite can be twin or double beds.

Ideally Windsor Hills would be good, but I am open to suggestions as long as it is close to Disney.

I have been scouring the net for ages and am struggling to find exacxtly what I want, so if any of you guys know where to find what I am looking for, please help.

Thanks

Neil

This is the house we have booked for next year:
http://www.vrbo.com/131153
It has 3 King, 1 Queen, 2 twin rooms.
It is in Windwood Bay and a few people here have told me that it is only a 10 minute drive to the parks by jumping on I-4.I am not sure about the 4th double bedroom with its own bathroom though. I got a fantastic price. So far the owners have been great. They just started renting the home out. Before now, the home was used for family vacations.

Good luck finding the perfect house for your vacation.

There are many on the vrbo.com site for Kissimmee. These are a three homes that are owned by DISers:
This one is in Formosa Gardens which is just across Livingstone Rd from WH
but it has 7bedrooms and 7bathrroms and is fabulous:
http://www.star-lake-manor.com/

Also this one in Emerald Island which is only about a mile from WH: 6 bedroom 5 bathrooms: with 4 (king/queen) masters and 2 twins
http://disneyvacahome.com/4436.html

This one in Bellavida which is on the eastern end of 192, a little further from Disney and in the Poinciana area. It's a new subdivision, 6 br 7bathroom

Look on the vrbo site at homes in Emerald Island and Formosa Gardens, there are many:
http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/florida/central-disney-orlando/kissimmee
Formosa Gardens Estates doesn't have community facilities but Emerald Island and Bellavida does.

The Windsor Hills homes we have rented all have 4 baths. I think 4 baths is standard in the 6 bed WH homes.

However, in Emerald Island (very close to WH and to WDW. Very nice.) the 6 bed/5 bath setup is much more common. Try the Bonita, which we loved. Website here: www.disneyvacahome.com.

Well I am now down to a couple of villa's that we like. They are split between Emerald Island and Formoso Gardens. What are your guys posetives and negatives to these resorts and how do they compare to Windsor Hills. I have done quite a bit of research but just need to satisfy myself before splashing out the cash for the villa.

Thanks

Neil

EI : manned gate FG: unmanned coded gate
EI : clubhouse facilities, pool, playground FG: no community facilities

I haven't stayed at either one but we visited friends who were staying in FG in March and it is a very nice, well kept community. Fabulous homes. House lots were bigger than WH. Homes themselves were more sprawlling than WH.
The home we visited had a Mickey mouse toddler pool at one end of the pool and a spa at the other end. The pool area and patio was bigger than the 6 bedroom we stayed at in WH. The main part of the pool was a little longer than at WH but because of the shape of it I don't think it was as wide. I would have like to have the little toddler pool for my grandkids. But I still like WH.
You probably will like either one but I know it's hard when it comes down to choosing one.

Both communities are nice and in the same general area.

Neither really matches WH for amenities, but are both beautiful places - more spread out than WH.

One thing about EI that many people do not realize - there were two 'levels' of homes. The majority of the resort is the Bay series homes, but there were a number of homes which were larger and on larger lots. These were the Harbor series homes and they are in an area known as "The Enclave". Basically giving you a larger home and bigger lots of land means that there is often more space between one home and another (and more room for your family to enjoy). Several of them overlook true conservation area and are south facing (if that is important to you).

Both communities are great. At the end of the day, I always recommend going with a home that works for your group. It wiill impact you most if it is not the right home for you.

They are both close to the parks Formosa Gardens being a closest by a minute of 2.

Both have beautiful homes. Formosa Gardens in general have more land surrounding the homes and have some larger homes.

Both are gated but Emerald Island has some one manning the gate opposed to just the electronic gate.

Emerald Island has a community clubhouse that is open to any guest of EI. There are a few amenities that FG does not have such as Tiki bar, fitness center, games room, internet cafe and so on.

They are both attractive resorts with very nice landscapingvery enjoyable to stroll around. I truly think you will be happy in either resort as long as the home is a good fit for your group.

That's right -- the home we stayed in in EI, the Bonita, was in the Enclave.

I think you have to consider whether you will use the public facilities. We have stayed in WH twice now, and the first time we used them quite a bit because we were trying to have a less park-centric vacation. This year, DH was with us which means PARKS PARKS PARKS and we used the WH pool maybe once in 12 days (although we used our backyard pool every day).

Hi this is the villa we have booked for November,we got it at a fantastic rate for its size and location, its at Acadia Estates which apparently is the closest community to Disney.
The website i have given you allows you to contact the owner direct:

Thanks for your comments. I think you are confirming what I was thinking which is good.
Thanks
Neil

Hmmm now your keeping us in suspense - let us know which community and which villa you selected.

Also when are you going next year

Acadia Estates isn't THE closest to Disney, it is one of the closest to Disney. Formosa Gardens Estates is directly across from it (closer to Disney) and Oak Island Cove and Harbour is beside it. Windsor Hills would be about the same distance except it's from the other direction. There's only a minute difference between any of the subdivisions in the Formosa Gardens area: Em. Is, Indian Creek, Rolling Hills, Windsor Palms, and Hills, Oak Island Cove, Ac Est. :)

I am just waiting for a couple of e-mails to come back. It is so difficult, because we have just come back from the Royal Ascot at Windsor Hills, which was great, but I just like to try something different. It would be to easy to go back to the same place. So, the pressure is on and I am feeling it, ha ha....

I think it will be the Emerald Island, unless the owners of a villa at Formoso come back to me by tomorrow night....My one issue with Emerald is that with the site I have found the villa on, you can not contact the owners direct which I did this year and past lots of e-mails about his home. With this one I am struggling to even find what the villa is called never mind who owns it, this slightly worries me..... What do you guys think?

We are going 2 May - 16 May 2009. I love America and already can't wait, the count down will began shortly.

Cheers

Neil

Post the websites that you used for Emerald Island and FG. Someone may be able to help you with more info. Lots of owners on here although they're not allowed to admit it. ( I'm not one of them. )

Post some more info (you can PM me if you would rather) and I will see what I can find out.

Which villa are you looking at within Formosa Gardens?

Early May is a great time to go, as the weather is usually not too hot, although this year it reached 33C for several days in the first week of May. There is also usually no rain, I think its only rained once in the last 3 - 4 weeks.
