I am planning to have a birthday cake delivered to our table during our lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table for my 4 year old daughter. I called the MK magical cake order hotline to place my order, but was told that if I just wanted the 6-inch cake, I could order it when I got in line on the day of our lunch. CRT apparently always has the 6-inch ($12.50) cake on-hand. However, if I wanted to personalize the cake, I would have to order the 8-inch cake for $25 plus tax plus $8 more for a disney character on top.

I'm afraid the 8-inch cake will just be too much cake and I don't want to have to carry around leftovers all day. And I'm afraid the 6-inch cake will be some frozen, tasteless hunk of junk.

My question is this: Are the 8-inch cakes much better tasting and looking than the 6-inch cakes? Anyone out there ordered these??

I am sorry that I can not help you but can you please tell me where and what # u called? We are going around my sisters b/day and she would love that. Thanks so much.

I can't comment on the 8 inch but the 6 inch we got for dh's birthday was nasty. It was definitely frozen. However, I think they do a better job for kids. Check out the cake thread on the restaurants board. Most are pictures of custom made cakes but some people post the regular 6 inch.

I don't know what kind of 8 inch cake they would give you, but we special ordered ours to be dairy-free and it was DELICIOUS! It had chocolate icing and was topped with raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries. OMG, SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!!!!!!! I will dig up a picture of it, if you want. We did have plenty leftover, but we had a stroller with us and took the remainder home in a box. Made a great snack later in the evening! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I would assume that it was tastier than a pre-made bakery cake, but I have no proof. :teeth:

We did the 8" for my daughters birthday. There were 6 adults and her and we had so much left over. But I tell ya the cake was AWESOME. We didn't get a cake topper, but they had a chocolate 'name plate' on top. She still talks about that cake. (we did the Cinderella Gala dinner)

We're gonna order one this next trip for my son even though it'll be a week after this birthday.

I can't post pictures yet. (I don't think) or I'd post one.

It was chocolate with chocolate and more chocolate.

Another thing to consider...

Will your dd really care about the cake? I know when we celebrated my DD's 5th B-day this past March at Crystal Palace, we went with the 8". We even got Pooh to bring the cake to her. Honestly, though...she was so overwhelmed by the whole Disney Day that she barely even touched the cake, nor did the rest of us, since there were so many other desserts being offered on the buffet. Your experience might be totally different, but before spending the $25, think about whether or not she'll really care about or even eat the cake.

BTW...for the record the 8" was delicious! :)

Just wanted to add that I called to order the 8 inch cake for my daughter at CRT. The CM that took my order was wonderful. She asked if I wanted to add a flat cake topper for $8. I asked her if I could bring my own (which will be a stand-up Cinderella figurine) and she said that would be fine. She asked what I wanted written on the cake and in what color icing the writing should be. She even put in the instructions to leave a space for the cinderella topper that I will be bringing and will give to the waiter to pop on the cake before he/she brings out the cake. By the way, she told me that the princesses could not deliver the cake to the table, only the waiter.

We had an 8 inch cake for 6 of us at CM in January and it was delicious. However, we ate only a very little bit of it and ended up just leaving it because we were going home the next day. DS received a complimentary cupcake at breakfast and then at MK when we went to get his birthday button they gave us certificates for Mickey bars. We had way too much food and the desserts at the restaurants would have been plenty IMO.

We just got back today. My DD 9th birthday was yesterday. I ordered the 8 inch chocolate cake / chocolate whipped topping with a sugar tinker bell with her name on it. It was wonderful. One of the best cakes I have ever eaten. We ate at the Crystal Palace. They held it for us in the refridgerator until we left the park for the day and I just picked it up then. It made it all the way home, airplane and all. We have eaten most of it now.

That sounds great! We're celebrating dd's 4th birthday and I'm debating on whether to get the cake at the Crystal Palace or GF 1900 Park Fare. I love the idea of being able to pick it up before we leave. Of course I wonder if we could leave it at package pick up at the main gate?

I heard 1900 Park Fare will hold the remainder too, until the end of your day.

We are doing breakfast there for oldest son and his friend's birthday (but they are in their 20's), so not sure what I will order. But cake at breakfast won't sit right with us. May have a small taste while there, then grab it on the way back to the resort.

I do have a question on this though. I'm having to watch my budget close, will they charge when I order it or that day? I really prefer when I order it, so I know it's out of the way.

Evil Queen.

If I remember correctly I had to pay for it there. I did have to put a CC on the order. This was March 2005.

You have to give a cc number but you pay for it the day you get it. We paid for in on our room. I am not sure you would want it at package pickup. They kept our refrigerated which I think you would want. Our icing was a whipped kind and did not stand heat real well.
