6 adults..what size rental car?

Is there a mid-size or full-size car that will carry 6 adults (no luggage). We'd rather not bump up to a SUV or minivan.

Hertz rents the traditional age old Mercury Grand Marquis. That is about the only CAR I would put six 150-200 pound adults in. The other "full size" cars are not as big as they used to be and many are a little too small for six and the engine will strain to go down the road.

Most full size don't have 3 seats in the front, there is usually a center console.

Any way you can bump down to 2 small cars? Will be more comfortable, more convenient and could even be cheaper.

I pretty much can guarantee you will not find a 6 passenger sedan for rent, and legally sitting more individuals then you have seat belts for is a no-no. There are a few Grand Marquis out in the fleets that will have a 6 passenger configuration, but it will definately be a premium rental, but the vehicles are not that common.

Also no rental agency will guarantee a 6 passenger sedan.

There will be six of us on our next trip. I booked a minivan. I do not think anything else would be comfortable. I ususally use Alamo or National but the rates were well over $600 for 8 days. I booked with Dollar and the total was $317. Good luck and enjoy your vacation.

I will be faced with the same problem next summer. I will just have to rent a van for my crew of 6 for an 11 day stay. I guess I better start saving now! LOL

If you need guaranteed seeting for 6, I would think the minivan may be your only choice. While there are some vehicles in the rental fleet that have 6 seats, they aren not all that common, and if you get to the airport, and they are out of them, you'd have to upgrade to a minivan at that point. You'd be at the rental counter's mercy as to what they'd charge you for an upgrade.
