6 adults-Pop vs. ASMu family suite?

I am trying to decide between 2 rooms at Pop Century vs. the All Star Music Family Suite (based on the remodeled suite). It will be DH and I, our 2 college-aged DDs and our son and his girlfriend (early 20s). The advantages of the ASMu remodeled suite are: price is lower than 2 rooms at Pop, larger fridge and it has a freezer section for breakfast sandwiches, larger kitchen area, and the drop down beds aren't sofa beds anymore so they should be comfortable. The advantages of Pop are: more separation/privacy, better resort I think, gondolas, no bus sharing. Thoughts?

I can see your dilemma! Just googled the refurbished AsMu family suites and they look really nice! As a family of five adults, when we travel together we’ve always opted for two rooms (always had adjoining too) at Pop. We haven’t had a chance to try out the skyliner yet but we’re very excited for the new mode of transportation. We most recently stayed at AsMo (not all of us) in mid August and had no trouble with busses. I do like the fact that the shop isn’t connected to the food court - and coincidentally the hours - at the All Stars like it is at Pop.

The big fridge, the microwave, and the expanded seating options (not just dining chairs) come into play if you plan on using them. And saving money without sacrificing comfort is always nice! Also, I’m not sure two rooms at Pop would provide more privacy? Well, maybe if they weren’t adjoining?

Happy planning and have a wonderful vacation!

Are connecting or adjoining rooms a must have for you? If yes, do the family suite. A few comments about the All Stars in general. They are remodeling the suites currently. The suites are in 4 different buildings, they have completed one and it took them 70 days to do it. I don't know when your trip is, but the way they seem to be doing it is going around in a circle so it could be quite awhile before they get to the other side. Until they are done which who knows when that will be, you may not get a remodeled room. I wouldn't pick Pop over the bus issue either. The all stars share at the very slowest of times. We have stayed at Sports twice and leave for Music in 12 days. We have shared a bus twice(both were 2 week trips), once to a PPO ADR and once at 2pm going to MK. Even with the sharing, which isn't any worse than the resorts with multiple stops, everyone had a seat both times.

If you could guarantee a remodeled suite at Music that would be the way I would go. (I hadn't checked them out yet, so thank you for putting something on my radar for our next trip.) If there was no way to secure that by booking category, I would suck it up and pay for two rooms at POP. You might also want to get input from your son and his GF. I know when I was in my early 20's I would have readily skipped a few nights out with friends to help pay for an extra room for to decompress.

Unless I'm missing something, the ASMu suites only have one real bed. The rest are sleeper sofa, sleeper chair, and sleeper ottoman (?). I don't know about you but I'd much rather have 4 queen beds between the 6 adults verses fold-out sofa types beds.

Personally, we found ASMu to be our least favorite. We had the last room in the farthest building and it made for a very, very long walk to the main building each day. Pop is one of our favorites and with the skyliner it can only get better. :)

ETA: Found the renovated room video. Ok, that's much nicer. Real beds. :) I'd still go with Pop for the skyliner, but that's up to you.

How much price difference are you talking about for the trip?

and to the person who said they were at the far end of ASMu, the family suites are located in the front preferred buildings, very close to bus stop and food court.

The suites are currently being renovated. They're getting rid of the three sleepers in the living room and replacing them with two queen murphy beds.

As for OP, I think the situation, even if you were to save money, will seem rather cramped. I imagine your son and his gf would prefer to have a bit more privacy. For that reason alone, I'd go with two rooms at Pop.

If you plan on spending any amount of "lounging" time at the resort in the room, I would recommend ASMu. The rooms at Pop have comfortable beds, but there isn't a couch or comfy chair to hang out in. Sure, there are a couple of "dining room" type chairs, but those aren't super comfy to just lounge in.

We just stayed at Pop back in September and really liked it. I liked having access to both Pop's food court and AOA's food court. Also, the benefit of the skyliner should not be minimized, especially if you are planning to spend much time at HS and EP. That really is a game changer for transportation to those two parks. I also liked the bathroom setup. There was lots of storage in the sink area.

Happy planning!

I agree with these points. I love Pop food court but i love having access to AoA as well. And having access to the gondola is great! I honestly feel that with the ASMu suite, you will feel cramped. It doesnt look like a lot of space for 6 adults to be honest. I think you will be much happier with more space and more beds (4 queens vs 3 queens). 3 ppl in one room, 3 in another. Problem solved! Plus as i said, gondolas!

FWIW, Music is my least fave resort. Not a fan of that place at all.
