6/4/09 Wonder 3 Night

How about first-time cruisers? pirate: Shouldn't we get a "stateroom warming" present? :goodvibes 15 more days and counting!

That would be nice! I just realized, or I think I have known it just hit me.. We will be celebrating our Birthdays together, actually mine is a few days after we return.

I know we have some previous cruisers in here. Like I have stated before, that this will be our 2nd cruise with Disney. I am excited check them out! Carnival HAS NEVER gave us anything this nice and we've cruised with them 5 times.

That's interesting. This will be our third DCL cruise. On the second cruise, we got a really nice Castaway towel to bring home. I assumed we would get a matching one this time! But maybe they have changed the gifts?

I'm trying to remember, we only sailed Carnival once, so nothing there. But we sailed NCL twice. The second time, I think we got a couple NCL pins. The towel from DCL was MUCH better!

Thanks for the movie update. I really want to see UP and Disney Earth. popcorn::

Disney does not do welcome gifts for first time cruisers but on our first cruise we did get some things for being DVC members. We also went to the DVC member gathering............and ended up buying more points while on board.......:woohoo: that turned out to be one expensive cruise......:scared1:.......Anyone going to the DVC member gathering on board?? I'm going to try to attend..............my husband is afraid I'll get the add on fever again!

We are DVC members, but I didn't know anything about a meet-up. How do you get info on that? Well, it is probably better to avoid, as there is no way we can add points!!

Okay Jenni and Cliff ... if you don't mind me asking, when exactly are your birthdays? Mine is next Wednesday. It will be fun to turn 21 again!!! Okay, if you add 24 more years to that then you'll know my true age

If they have a member gathering, it will be listed in your Navigator. I'm not positive if they have a gathering on the 3 night cruise. They give you a bag with some goodies for showing up ..........then you play games and they give out prizes. We won a one-of-a-kind beach towel last time. My husband said that was one of the most expensive beach towels he had ever won!!!!

Of course during the gathering they give you these great offers to add on points but they really don't pressure you into it..........you just have to listen to the sales pitch for a bit. You can still go to have some fun. I'm looking forward to going again.

Mine is the 10th... you can subtract 10 from your equation for me.. :rotfl:

Okay, true confession time! Mine is the 16th (of August). :3dglasses But since I will be back in school by then and can't take off, I am doing my celebrating at the beginning of June and making it last all summer long. :woohoo: I figure if the Disney theme parks can have year-long celebrations, what's to stop me from having a summer-long celebration? :wizard: I will be 5 years older than Belynda and 12 years older than Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom and 15 years older than Jenni and 4 years younger than Disneyland. :scared1:

Are you really going to make me say which birthday this one is? :confused3 You're going to make me say it outloud in front of everyone here on the DISboard? :headache: Okay, I'll tell you. :rolleyes1 I'm going to be fifty! That's right! The big 5-0! :scared1:
There, I said it. :guilty: But at least I'll only be 49 when I take the cruise!
Leos of the world - UNITE! :grouphug: (that's you and me, Maggie) ;)

OK, here goes...I'm hoping magic happens with my 75th post!

Another topic...books! Anyone have a book they plan to read on the cruise? I know...who has time to read!?

I'm a slow reader, so I'll probably still be reading the same book I'm on now! It is a mystery by a local author, Stephen White. His books all take place in Boulder, so that makes it especially fun for me.

DH, super fast reader. He'll read 10 books to my one. So he will end up buying something at the airport!

DD and DS: are just finishing up "The Last Olympian" in our family read time and we need a good suggestion! We are considering the second book in the Twilight series, other ideas...?

Have DD and DS read "The Egypt Game"? My DD read it last year in 6th grade. I'm bringing it with me on this trip and plan on reading it at the airport and poolside at the Grand. :)

An excellent post to commemorate your 75th... I knew you can do it!

I have the book "The Shack". Everyone that has read it told me it was an excellent read.. I have had the book for about a month,my MIL bought it for me.. She is anxious for me to read. I just finished a "Lesson before Dying". I had to read for a college class.

DD, 13 has the first "Twilight", and I am waiting to read. Still will not watch the movie. I took her and a few of her friends out to the DVD release, actually had a great time. But I was told (by DD) there are some difference in the both. I think we are going to read the series over the summer.

Congratulations Mousketeer!!!
Thanks everyone!!

OK, about the books.
DH's birthday is.....this Tuesday!! Don't even ask how old! And I was sick this week, plus crazy with work, so I haven't even started shopping! And of course, it is nothing but holiday until his special day! Big oops on my part!

I tried to find The Shaft, found it online and it looked interesting, but it was unavailable. I'm wondering if I have the wrong book. Who is the author?

Also confused by The Egypt Game. Is it an older book that is being re-released? It seems to be available in hardback now, paperback in July, but also older versions in paperback now. Does it matter which version?

I managed to purchase New Moon, the Twilight sequel, so my day wasn't a total waste!

Everybody, have a wonderful long weekend!
