6/16-6/23 TR: It's Hot, Hot, Hot: Update 7/27 Top 10 Lists

I never quite understood the concept of pin trading. I do collect a few pins, not much, but I am not sure why I would want to trade them.:dance3:

That Mary Poppin is a brave soul, to stand and greet under the hot sun with full costume, yet with a smile. Amazing!!

I kept hearing that Kim Possible commerical on the Disney Channel leading up to our trip. It's cool to hear about someone actually doing it.

We really like the changes to Spaceship Earth as well. The computer stuff at the end is so cute.

We were at Epcot that day too though I think we didn't show up until around noon. It was hot! That's interesting they didn't let you use the KP tickets past your time. They let us several times:confused3 It must depend on the CM. Smart to let your girls do the missions while you took refuge in the air conditioning. We enjoyed the missions more in the evening than in the mid day sun. Looking forward to more:goodvibes
Maybe they would have if I had really pushed, but it was easier to just trade in for a new ticket with a better time for us. I was surprised that they let us go early though. That is usually a big NO, NO!:sad2:

I meant to post about your pins. My oldest decided to collect the cuties(baby Disney characters) and Amelia collected Tinkerbell! What a coincidence.

We were at Epcot on Friday too! Look for us in your pictures. We used our KP tickets past their return time too.:confused3

Wow, that 9 pound lemon must be fossilized by now, its been there quite a while.:rotfl:

Did your daughter find Baby Eeyore? That was the hardest one to find. In fact we found it on a CM at the BC named Trina. She rocked!!! We almost attacked her when we saw she had it because we were convinced we'd have to go home without him.

Fossilized Lemon!:lmao:

Your family seems to be having a blast! I love your pictures. Thank you for helping me get my Disney fix! :goodvibes

ANYTIME!!!!!

Because we got the ones from a seller on the internet we were not keen on keeping them. They came to be only about $2.00 a pin. So then we traded them for the ones that we wanted, and we saved some money. :thumbsup2 It was a neat experience. I am not sure if we would do it again or just add to our current collections.

Mary Poppins ROCKS!!!!

I kept hearing that Kim Possible commerical on the Disney Channel leading up to our trip. It's cool to hear about someone actually doing it.

The Kim Possible adventure was a huge hit at our house. I thought my girls would be too old for it, but they liked it a lot.

Another update tomorrow, I hope. I start a graduate class tomorrow. It will depend on how much homework I have.

Saturday, June 20. Our 2nd day at MK. YEAH!!! Guess what?? IT WAS HOT!! On this day, we would have welcomed a shower to cool us off but NO. It was not meant to be. :sad2:

We boarded the MK boat at 8:30 and arrived in time to watch the opening again. I can never get enough of this. As we were walking under the train depot, DH took a right and headed towards Tony's. As we walked in front of Tony's I was almost taken out by a princess. Snow White and I almost collided. We both did a fancy manuever and missed each other by inches. I, of course, apologized. She didn't say anything because she was laughing so hard. :rotfl2: The only other 2 people who saw it was DD 13 and Mary Poppins. They were laughing as hard as Snow White. We both kept walking. We tried to explain what happened to DH and DD 16, but it was one of those things you had to see to appreciate it. I will never forget this. :lmao:

OK after averting disaster, we headed to Buzz to get a FP and then off to Fantasyland. We rode the teacups with no wait. Here are my girls.

Teacups.jpg

From here we headed to Winnie the Pooh and then Snow White. While we were waiting in line, a woman behind us said, "You must be a Diser?" I turned around and she said, "I saw your LGMH." I couldn't decide before the trip whether to attach one on my bag or not. 2 years ago, I looked and looked and never saw anyone. This time I wore one and sure enough, someone spotted me. :cool1: We had a wonderful chat. During that time, I remembered her from EPCOT the day before. We sat in Mexico and talked while my girls did the KP adventure. I reminded her and she remembered me as well. She told me her screen name; in case I ever saw her on the boards, I should say hello. So far, I haven't found her. That was the coolest thing. :hippie:

After Snow White, we headed to Mickey's Philharmagic. This is my favorite 3-D movie at WDW. I love it. Here is a pic DH took on the way there.

Castle6.jpg

After MPHM we headed to Carousel of Progress by way of a Coke Float. Did I ever say how much I love the dining plan. :yay: While in the CoP, a man got a cell phone call. Anyone reading Momofthreeboys TR would know why this is funny. She had a similar experience. :rotfl: We then rode Buzz using our FP. I won!!!!! I think this is a first. :thumbsup2

We decided to go ride HM. On the way we ran across the Celebration Parade. We hung around to watch. It is very cute. Lots of music and dancing.

Celebration4.jpg

The reason we took this is because DD16's BF's name is Woody. We had to have a pic.

We rode HM again. Then we headed to Columbia Harbor House for lunch. I had heard some really nice things about this place, so I wanted to try it. It was great. DH and I got the fish. DD13 got the chicken and DD16 got the clam chowder. Yes, hot soup on a hot day.:scared1: We sat upstairs and it was very nice and quiet. I would eat here again simply for the atmosphere. From here the family went to the shooting gallery. I shopped. Then we rode POC for the 3rd time.

DH had seen a watch that he really wanted at DTD but didn't buy it. He had been looking for it in every shop since then. We couldn't find it anywhere. We decided to take the monorail to the CR and catch a bus to DTD to buy the watch. It was part of his Father's Day present, so I wanted him to get the one he wanted. He found it right away. We headed back to WL to get ready for dinner.

Tonight we had dinner at O'Hana's. I was really excited. We went early so that we could look around the resort. This is a place that I would love to stay. It is gorgeous. Here are 2 pics that we took.

Our time to eat had arrived. We loved it. This was the neatest place we had ever eaten. The food was so good. We liked it all. DH especially loved the turkey. He tells everyone about it. :cloud9: I love the fact that people brought you meat on a skewer every few minutes. Sorry, no pics. We were too busy eating. I didn't think I would ever eat again. :crazy2: The atmosphere was great. DD 16 and I got leis (spelling?) Guess what DH bought? A ukelali (Spelling?) Now this might surprise some people. Not me. This is exactly what my DH would buy. Now he is learning to play on-line. ;) Too Cute. Did I mention how much he loved this place. I'm hoping that he wants to stay at the Poly next time.:rolleyes1 We did some more exploring. We walked to the pool, checked out the beach. I'm in love.

We made our way back to the resort and headed to bed.

UP next a "Magical Moment".

Sounds like a fun MK day! Is there any other kind?:goodvibes Someday I'd like to try Ohana's. It really sounds like a fun place. I can always find reasons to go back.

That's a lot of manuvering from WL to MK to DTD to PR and back to WL. Sounds like a long day.

I just can't do the tea party thing. I know I wouldn't do well afterward. :sad2:

Now I can see some height reference. You and your DD(16) looks about the same height. If not, it's close. That means you are quite tall. I also have to say, you look more like a slightly elder sister to your DDs than as their mom.

Ohana is our favorite restaurant. Their open fire grill BBQ is the bomb. I love their shrimp. I hope you get to try Kona Cafe at PR for their breakfast too. That place is just plain awesome.

Can you imagine the horror if you and Snow White had actually collided?:scared1::rotfl:

Neat that you met a Dis-er. I wish it would have been me, wouldn't that have been fun?

We liked Ohana the last trip too. The atmosphere is festive and the food is really good.

Subbing, DD and I are loving your report so far. It is getting us psyched up for our upcoming trip. :thumbsup2

There are always reasons to go back. I think my DH would eat at O'Hana's every night if his heart could take all that meat. :rotfl:

fun updates!!! glad your husband got the watch he wanted:thumbsup2

Yep, he deserved a nice gift for Father's Day.

It actually didn't seem that long because of the bus trips. It was nice to stay in the cool air conditioning for awhile. I don't ride the tea cups with the girls because I like a less spinny ride. :lmao:

AWWW!!! Thanks for the "big sis" compliment. With one daughter driving and the other one going into high school, I'm feeling really old this summer. :scared:

I will definitely give Kona a try sometime. Everyone really seems to like it.

I would never have lived it down if I had taken out Snow White. :rotfl2: I would love to have run into you. That would have been so cool. :hippie:

:thanks: That is a great compliment. It still amazes me that anyone would want to read my TR. Have a great trip. I want to go back NOW!!!

I'm all caught up! Looks like you guys are having a great time! I loved your Epcot picture of the golf ball with the fountains in front!!

We were in MK that same day...wish I had seen your LGMH! I double checked your photos but didn't see us.

Loved your Poly pictures. It's a beautiful place. We enjoyed our O'Hanas meal too.

Did you ever find out why they didn't show the movie? Bolt is one of our favorites and it wouldn't have gone over well if they didn't play it.:sad2:

I'm glad someone saw the LGMH and said something. The girls said that I couldn't stop smiling.

NO idea why there was no movie, but then again we didn't ask. We got distracted by something else and kind of forgot. I guess getting easily distracted is a side effect from being at Disney.
:cheer2:

We have to go to DC this weekend for a b-ball tourney, and I have another grad. class next week. I will try to update early in the week before the work load gets too heavy.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Loved the update! I really like MPHM 3-D too. You have me on pins and needles waiting for the magical moment...... ;)

Hey lady! Just checking in to see how that class is treating you. Do you have loads of homework?

Thanks, Magical Moment is on the way!!!

Hey lady! Just checking in to see how that class is treating you. Do you have loads of homework?

IT was a tough class. Loads of work. Our girls didn't fair well at the tournament, so we are back earlier than we had expected.:sad2:

Now I have time to do laundry and post an update before I have to get ready for this week's class.:headache:

Hello all,

We are now onto Father's Day! Sunday June 21.

I'm not sure that I posted about this because it didn't really affect the trip, however, it becomes important now. All week I had been fighting a sore throat. I kept taking Tylenol and staying hydrated. The family said that my snoring had been getting worse. Saturday night was a tough night for me. I did not sleep well. I am pretty sure I had a fever at one point. I tossed and turned. It was not pleasant. :sad1:

However, when it was time to go, I was not stopping. Today was our second trip to AK. The weatherman said that it would be the hottest day of the week but no rain. I figured since everyone thougt AK was the hottest, it wouldn't be as crowded. I don't think that AK is the hottest park. More on that later!!! We got to AK with time to spare. We found a line in the shade and all was fine. I talked DH into riding KS first because I had never ridden it first. We always went to EE first. He agreed. So, after the opening show, off we headed for our "2 week" safari. We had a great guide and the animals were all out for us to see. Here is a giraffe that we had to wait for.

Giraffe2.jpg

I loved this ride.

We then headed to EE. Dh was going to get FP while the girls and I found a restroom. As we were completing our trip into the coldest restroom in history, (Not that we were complaining) DH called and said ,"Hurry up the line for EE is 20 minutes!" So the girls and I took off to meet up with DH to ride EE. We didn't even wait 10 minutes to get on. :cool1: It was great. We had FP for a little while later. I was in a fine mood, but in a lot of pain. I asked if we could go to Rafiki's. Everyone thought that was a good idea. On the way to the train, we stopped at Tamu Tamu for shakes. I really like these, and it made my throat feel better for a little while. I was afraid that they wouldn't let us on the train with them, but the CM said it wasn't a problem.

The train ride was nice. I really like the conservation area. We saw a Spoonbill get a check up because he was being transferred to another zoo. They had to make sure he was healthy. It was so interesting. My daughters found a CM to talk to. She took them around the many displays and talked about all of the animals. DD 16 left there wanting to work with birds someday. DD13 actually traded a pin with another guest. She was the only one brave enough to ask. It was a women probably 19-20 years old. She had the "baby Piglet" that we were looking for. :thumbsup2 We then rode back to Africa. We had about 10 minutes until the next Flights of Wonder show. We decided to try to make it. We did and got great seats. We really like this show. It makes us laugh every time. This is the first time that we had a female host. She was great. Here's a pic.

FofW3.jpg

After the show, we used our FP for EE. It was so neat. We were behind 3 kids that had never ridden before. They had no idea what to expect. The were scared. I love to hear the reactions from others about this ride. My DH made sure that they looked up to see the Yeti. Now that she doesn't move, you really have to look or you will miss her.

From here we decided to see what the wait for Dinosaur was. It was like 50 minutes. No WAY!!! I had wanted to eat at Flame Tree but there was no way I was eating outside in the heat. We headed into Restarauntosaurus to eat. I had to sit down FAST!!! I found the table and waited for the others. It was very crowded. I had the Hot dog. It amazes me how hard it is to find a hot dog on the adult's menu at WDW. What with the sore throat, heat, and lack of sleep, I was really starting to feel horrible. The only thing that we hadn't done in the 2 days that we were there that we wanted to do was FOTLK. We don't like Kali River and did not feel the need to do the walking tours. We had just missed the FOTLK show and had to wait 2 hours for the next one. I told everyone that if it was OK with them, we could miss it this trip. As DH said, "We've seen it several times, and we would be back." Very true. So, through my disappointment, we headed back to the lodge. On the way out, DH took this pic.

Tree2.jpg

We all showered and took naps before heading to Chef Mickey's. I was really looking forward to this meal. We headed down to the Contemporary Boat. It was crowded when we got on, but everyone was nice enough to squeeze together for us. Once we arrived at Fort Wilderness everyone got off and noone else got on. Our pilot Paul decided to award us a Magical Moment. He first asked us who wanted to be Princesses and who wanted to be Pirates?? I'm sure he expected the girls to say,"Princesses" but not my girls, they love pirates. First he gave us cards that had pics of the 3 kinds of boats on the 7 seas lagoon. Then the Pirates all got bandanas (You'll see one in a pic a little later). I, as the only Princess, got a set of beads and a "ring". It was huge and plastic. Then Paul decided to that the girls were Pirate Pricesses. So, they each got a ring too. On the way to the Contemporary, he talked about Bay Lake and asked questions about where we were from. It was not the most amazing Magical Moment, but it was nice to be treated special.

We got to Chef Mickey's right on time. We checked in, got our pic taken, and were seated right away. Yes, I bought the pics. I really liked them because we weren't sweating and no sunglasses.

Now, I know that some people don't like the food here, but we did. There was a huge variety. We ate until we couldn't eat any more. The best part were the interactions with the characters.

ChefMickeys2.jpg

I like the way DD 16 is standing like Minnie.:cutie:

ChefMickeys3.jpg

Let me explain why the girls are laughing so hard. Right before this pic was taken, Donald was taking a pic with the family next to us. Mickey walked up to the table, looked at the camera, looked at Donald, and walked right in front of the camera. Everyone laughed. As Mickey was taking our pic, Donald walked up and stomped his feet and "glared" at Mickey. So, this is all happening as my girls are trying to hold their pose. All the people at the surrounding tables were laughing. :rotfl2: THere was a few tense seconds as Mickey and Donald had a stare down. So funny:rotfl: Then Mickey threw up his hands and headed to the next table. We still talk about it. I hope I did the story justice.

Pluto liked DH's Steeler's shirt. Here is a pic of DH with Goofy.

ChefMickeys6.jpg

At one point, we were supposed to be twirling our napkins. Well, we weren't quite participating, so we got whacked by Donald. He was a little aggressive that night. SO FUNNY!!!!!

We did some shopping. I really like the gift shop at the CR. We then decided to take the monorail to the GF to look around. I had never been there. I'm not sure I would ever stay there. It just seems too fancy for us. Don't get me wrong. It was gorgeous. We have tons of pics, but I really like the one of the band.

GF13.jpg

On the way back to the lodge we decided to take this pic. I know everyone does this, but I like it.

Family2.jpg

DD16 is wearing her Pirate bandana. Once, back at the lodge we went swimming. For a day that started out with a huge question mark, it went well. I didn't get everything done, but we had a great time.

A magical moment and laugh with Mickey and Donald. What more could you ask for?

Up next, Our last day!!!

Sounds like a fun day:goodvibes I'm glad that you didn't feel so bad that it ruined your day. And your DH is right. FOTLK will be there next time:goodvibes Love your Chef Mickey pictures and stories. The characters really do have fun there. How sad that your last day is coming up. It's always sad to see good TR's coming to an end:sad:

What a fun and magical day for your family. Too bad you weren't feeling better. Where is the cool Mickey you took a picture with? I don't remember seeing it.

TK

Sorry you weren't feeling the best. Disney is no place to be sick! It sounds like you didn't let it slow you down, though. You'll be back and your DH is right, FOTLK will still be there, waiting for you. You still got lots done.

Love the Mickey and Donald story. How very Disney! And your family looks adorable in your pictures from CM.

Aw, last day, huh? Do you have another trip planned that you could write a ptr for?:rolleyes1

So sorry that you didn't feel well. I hope that you recovered quickly. The day that you were at MK was the day that we spent a lot of time at the Wilderness Lodge. It is so nice there! We were outside a lot and it was HOT! We probably didn't enjoy it as much as we would have liked because of the heat, but it was enough for us to want to stay there some day.

So cool that you met someone from the Dis! That would have been a highlight for me too.
