Hey Hey I am the one who suggested the gift exchange at first meet!!!!
It is alot of fun having everyone come up intro themselves pick name out of hat which is your dis name and then so forth
Just lets say everyone meet at 3:00 and we will then do exchange at around 3:20.... I will organize the meeting and also I will announce along with help excursions shared, brunches shared, possible other get togethers during the week.....This would also be a time to get a pic....
so FIRST DIS MEET GIFT EXCHANGE is optional but totally great!!! Again be creative and pick something 1 gift or goody bag from your family to another representing something from your hometown location!!!


Also for the FE
PLEASE just see it as something easy and fun not stressfull! It doesn't matter what day or what you give... that is the WHOLE point of the fabulous fun!!!!!

I have been MIA because of stress of husband losing job and SOCCER SOCCER SOCCER!

Now this might sound crazy to some of you but I just got my electric bill and it is UNDER $300 for the first time in 4 years!!!!!!

CA is terrible when it comes to electric rates. What an exciting day!!!!

Oh boy, I can't to move to VA we will have so much extra money each month I might have to book another cruise! LOL

Where in VA are you moving?

It looks like with the exchange it would be easy to lets say for example. We have DS age 6 and DS age 9. And for those just exchange with one of the other age DS 6 year old and other DS 9 year old. Because it will not matter if there is an even or odd number because eveyone can just have someone else. Because I don't think we have any ages where there is just 1 and if so then just add them to the age group and sex that is closest to them.
This way it is simple and we can just worry about buying for same ages ,etc that we have. And can worry about names later.
That was the way it was done on the last cruise that had it.

The ship ashore time is 9:30am for Cozumel. For those wanting to go to Chakannab first thing, I offered to be in charge of coordinating a meet at 9:30am. Still need to pick a spot on the ship for us, then we can leave all as a group to go to the taxi stands and share taxi vans to the park to help reduce cost. If anyone has a suggestion on where to meet that AM, would be great. I know alot of the excursions meet up at different places on the ship for the DCL excursions. This will be a Dis excursion!

Make sure you add me to the list to be contacted to meet ya all. I am going too!!!!!!

Cozumel is so easy as far as the pier.... You might want to consider meeting on the pier at a certain time maybe near the pharmacy or on the right side before the escalators(sp?) Especially since so many disney excursion will have the boat meeting places!

YIKES off the ship on the pier - I'm gonna get lost!!!!!!!

ok, here's my 2 cents on the FE gifts - I think each person should do whatever they are comfortable with. By that I mean, if I want to give 1 gift per cabin, that's fine. Or if I want to get all the adults in each cabin a gift, and all the kids too, that's fine also. Even if the gifts are small, the cost adds up with so many cabins participating. And some people don't have the time to think of or buy a lot of different gift, and some won't have the space to pack them. We don't want anyone to not participate because its become too expensive, time-consuming or confusing. If some cabins end up with more gifts, or fewer gifts, does it really matter? We are only doing this as a way to make the cruise more fun, add some extra surprises, and as a way to get to know each other.

Also even if you don't bring a gift to the meet doesn't mean don't come.... It is just fun to get goodies and meet everybody......no stress remember vacation!!!!!!!!

Ok so your DH and my DH will have to talk.... My DH Rob also is a hunter!

Unfortunately DH won't be on this cruise. He'll be crusing again with us on the DCL Northern Baltics July 6, 2010. I bet if there were a hunting excursion in one of those ports, he would go!

I myself would be fine with doing just one per child exchange due to I don't know if I can go find and do 26 cabins!! I am worried about how much time that can take up? Has anyone every done that before??
But don't miss understand me I think it is all a great idea but just trying to figure out how you do 26 cabins without losing too much fun time with the family etc. Could that take no time at all or could it take like an hour or so?
Because I would like to do more then just one day? but most likely can't take that much time everyday.

I have done it three times and I never felt like it took time from my family...Last cruise the kids loved going on a hunt for the FEs one night to put goodies inside! It is only one night and I take paper with cabin#s but the FEs are VERY east to spot up and down the hallways.... We always have a blast!

It is so funny as I'm reading your post- it made me even more excited for this trip. I can't wait to meet everyone, and you can put me down for the Dis Meet Gift Exchange- I don't know what I'm getting yet, but I'll figure out something. LOL

Does anyone know how to create a website for our group, and then we could also have all of the information on there, and it would of course have to be private. Anybody computer saavy out there, you guys know I'm not, I had issues making an excel spreadsheet.

You could be split the delivery up. You don't have to deliver them all in one day. You can do some each day - (like 7 a day and that's just 4 days) and just cross of the list. I don't (or hope) it will be time consuming

We wanted to fly direct to Balto on Southwest or Continental but the airfare was over $1500 for the 2 of us!That's as much as our cruise costs for 2!!! DD has off from school on Mon so we fly back then. This has been one heck of a year. I lost a good friend and neighbor in Feb, then my MIL. Say a few prayers for my mom, ok?

What is a FE? I am not new to cruising, but to this term? Family Exchange? (If so, take my daughter, please since I already ditched DEX!)

Speaking of, any single parents in this group? Or parents traveling solo? I see one gal traveling without DH. Maybe there will be some fabulous single dad onboard traveling with his lovely child(ren) who would just love to share Palo with me one night ... otherwise I plan to go solo if I have to. (I wish, I wish, that they would let older kids go, too. Hate leaving DD but I really want to go to Palo.)
