Is this very far from the dock? What made you decide to do it on your own rather than through DCL?

I am sort of worried about going too far in Mexico with everything on the news these days. Are you swimming too, or just the kids?

We are doing Dolphin Discovery on our own- we can only do the Encounter because of DD's age- she's only 6. We will be taking a cab- I think it will be fine.

Has anyone done the pirate scavenger hunt in Key West or the Conch Republic tour and musuem package? Is there anywhere I can find reviews on the different tours. We have cruised with DCL a lot but usually get off and just wander around so do not have much experience with the tours.

What is everyone doing in Key West?

We're doing the trolley tour(not through DCL). We wanted to see the city- so thought that would be a good way to do it.

We are booking the Key West Trolley tour direct through them. It is $26.10 online and you get on and off privileges at any of the 12 stops. With DCL you have a non-stop tour. I like the idea of wandering a little on my own. I will have my own hand held GPS along just in case.

Yeah, we are booking the trolley tour direct because I want to be able to get off and on as much as I want.

So how do you think that will be different from using the electic car? Wondering if you reseached this.:);)
Don't you get some type of tour guide on the trolley who tells you about all the sites? I'm sure the electric car would be fun, but I want to sit back and relax and not have to figure out where I'm going.

Yeah, we might do that also.:) That is what I am trying to choose but the cars do look fun.LOL but wonder about when we want to go in somewhere and how the parking would work out? and would parking end up taking up a lot of time.
but on the other hand I will have 5 of us so I need check and see if it will really be cheaper in the long run and what sights we want to see.:)

For example ( Trolley) if we don't want to see some places does it stop and go and stop and go or does it stop for a certain amount of time for each stop?
I do not want to wast time waiting for the next time to go to the next place? Or does the trolley just stop for a sec and you can get off or does it wait for a certain amount of time?
Questions, questions, questions.:rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi Ruley3 - my DH and DS are doing the fishing at CC too! DS is 10, so hopefully he'll enjoy it - he wants to do it...
Also, we booked the Cozumel Beach Break - I think I had previously saw pretty good reviews on this from fellow cruisers - ???

Who are you booking through? I am now debating between trolley & electric car. Someone brought up a good point about parking. I would definitely book through a company & not DCL since that one is non-stop.

This is the company I am looking at: http://www.trolleytours.com/key-west/

They offer 12 on/off stops but I need to look & see where the stops actually are. I believe you can get on & off any trolley??

**this company has 12 stops that you can get on & off at your convenience (trolley runs every 30 minutes) or just stay on for 1.5 hr tour.**

If this works like other on off tours I have done You can get off at any stop and catch any other trolley all day. The site says they run roughly every half hour. You do get the narration so you can get an overview of the local history, this is only as good as the guide you get, it can vary widely. I read where the loop takes 1 1/2 .

I have heard parking can be an issue with them too. I know with some of them you can get parking passes, but I just kind of wanted to relax.:goodvibes
I've wondered about the trolley stops too, I need to do some more research as well.;)

That's exactly who I was booking through. I sent for some brochures too, so I've been seeing which stops I want to get off at. We are definately going to the Southermost Point, and somewhere where they have chocolate key lime pie on a stick, otherwise I don't where else to go. LOL I will be doing more research in the next few weeks.

Beth - I think we are going to do the Trolley in Key West (the on off trolley). We too are going to swim with dolphins - maybe we can do Key West together....

Hope all is well today!! I had horrible sinus issues all weekend but feeling a little better today.

I researched the trolley & purchased etickets today through: http://www.trolleytours.com/key-west/

Although I may not get off at all stops ~ they hit all the majors venues that I was looking for. Etickets are good for 6 months & you get a discount if purchased online.

YEAH... our only excursion is taken care of.

Has anyone ever parasailed in Key West? my DS 12 is too young to solo parasail at CC and so far, the parasail companies in Key west will let him and for half the price CC charges! Anyone with any personal experience there? Looking for the good, the bad, and the ugly!:lmao:

Thanks for the link. It got me to start thinking what we will do with my brother-in-law and his wife.

Hi, everyone. I'm done with my 3 nights and checking in! Sounds like plans are coming along. I'm still hoping there will be availability at 75 days.

For those doing the trolley in Key West, I found this post on the cruise critic board (Someone else's opinions, not mine, but at least some ideas):

now I just need some advice on which stops we should get off at? We've never been to Key West and our ship is only docked for the afternoon (11:30am-6:00pm), but we'd like to see and do as much as possible (and feasible, for
time and economically!)

Which trolley stops are worth disembarking at?

The La Concha, Bahama Village, and Casa marina would be good. Stops are...

Mac's Sea Garden - you will probably start here. Mac's has souviners, shells, etc
La Concha - Crowne Plaza - This is on Duval at approximately Petronia. Margeritaville is near here and Sloppy Joe's is a little farther north on the other side of the street. OK stop for shopping, sight-seeing
Angela and Duval Streets - the stop here is probably so that you can wander around the Key West Cemetary at Passover Lane
Bahama Village Market Place - at Whitehead and Petronia. You can shop at the village and Besame Mucho 1/2 block along Petronia, then have lunch at Blue Heaven at Thomas.
Key West Welcome Center - Wheelchair Accessible - this is over by the airport and unless you want to walk along the ocean, nothing to see.
Casa Marina - you can walk along Higgs Beach, out onto the White Street Pier, and look at the West Martello Botanical Garden
Southernmost Trolley Stop - for photos at the Southernmost Point
Duval and Truman Avenue - nothng really special here unless you walk to the Southernmost Beach Cafe and the Southernmost House
Mallory Square - Wheelchair Accessible - where you will return.
