Ok...not sure where I left off but here is a new update on me. I got sick last weekend and on Monday went to the DR was dx with UTI and kidney infection. Couldn't admit me for IV antibiotics because hospital was full. Just went into dr's office each day for shots. On Wednesday I was actually feeling much better and planned to go back to work on Thursday. Wednesday night around 11:30 I woke up with horrible back pain which got worse and worse. My mother took me to the ER around 1:00 AM Thursday morning. After waiting 3 1/2 hours I finally got back to a room and found out that the infection had not only gotten worse I also had 2 kidney stones :scared1: so I was admitted and had a stent put in Friday afternoon and I got out yesterday afternoon. I go back in 2 weeks to have the stent and stone removed. I sure hope this fixes everything I am sick of being SICK!!

Now for the sad part :sad2:

# 1 ... I missed the March 1st date to request my vacation time so now the time I need is already booked

# 2 ... I no longer have the PTO to take off the time I need for this vacation, well I do but only if I do not miss ANY more time between now and then which is probably not going to happen especially since I am having another procedure done in 2 weeks

Please send all the pixie dust:wizard: my way that you can. I am going to talk to my boss tomorrow to see if an exception can be made and I am not so sure it's going to go well. I sure hope so as I have non-refundable flights booked and all :scared1: I have to know something before the penalty kicks in though which is soon I think. As much as I want to go I can't loose my job over it. ;) but Zane and I will both be crushed if we have to cancel. I have looked at early August cruises as a back-up but of course nothing compares to the rate we got for this cruise.

Also, if anyone has any experience with American Airlines and non-refundable airfare please let me know. Their website is NOT user friendly. I know I can't get a refund but I am wondering if I could change the dates if I had to.
Feel better! I had to have 2 stents, 2 surgeries (one through the kidney from outside and one through the ureter), ICU admit, and then lithotripsy for kidney stones (2 surgeries didn't even get them all) all in a 3 week period in 2004. I feel your pain! :scared1: Good luck with the vacation request too! :wizard:

...We booked back in November but this is the 1st time I have visited this thread. I just browsed thru a few pages. So how many category 12's do we have now?:)
Welcome! :yay:
Can anyone tell me if you are doing the pirate excursion through Disney or through jolly rodger's direct?
TIA,
Paula
I thought they don't allow direct booking when Disney is in port. Can't remember where I read that. I think DCL takes all spots for that day.

How is everyone's day going so far? It's nicer weather today then last Monday.:scared1:
It is 80 here today! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

For those who booked Dolphin Discovery at Chankanaab on your own, did you see the refund policy? If DCL doesn't make it to the port, it says you don't get a refund but a credit good for a year. Makes me a little weary about booking the Dolphin Encounter on our own. Thoughts?

Zane Anthony--get better soon.

I just paid off my cruise! I am ready to book palo!

I seen that too. I will be booking through DCL at midnight on Saturday (5 more days)

Is anyone traveling with a teenager that would want 2 more people to try to dine with them?

I'm a single mom and my DS (14) and I are looking for someone to maybe get a table with for the Main Seating time so we are not alone....any takers???

Well I didn't get very good news today. It was basically too bad so sad no exceptions will be made :sad2: I am not very happy at all because they make exceptions all the time when they feel like it. Their excuse is the inventory but that makes me mad too because it's their fault it's so high!! One of our people got promoted and they decided to wait 3 months to replace them!! I am sooo mad right now I could just scream :furious:

So right now I have two options....

1. Keep the cruise booked, hope I don't have to miss any more time between now and then, and just take the time off paid but unexcused, will probably get written up if i go this route ... unless i have to use time between now and then and then i would have to take some time without pay and this could get me fired :scared:

2. Just cancel the cruise and be out for airfare and a few other things I have already bought/paid for :sad2:

I am so torn and mad right now...anyone have any good suggestions? WWYD?

Well right now I am not even sure I am going but if we do and you don't have any takers I wouldn't mind dinning together. My DS is only 7 ( will turn 8 two days after the cruise) and it will just be us 2.

The policy was actually different when I booked. I would need something from DCL showing we didn't make it and I would get a refund less a 10% admin fee however with the situation I am in right now I like the new policy better. We will be in Cozumel in November and I am hoping if I have to cancel they will let me move my time to then. I will have to pay for Zane though because he will be 8 by then :confused3

I'm sooo sorry to hear that! WWID? I think I would have to go #2 the safe route. With days economy and the way jobs are being cut and hard to come by, I would have to lose a little money on the airfare and items bought but have job security.... That's just MY opinion. I'm sure it is not what you wanted to hear...good luck in your decision. I will send some pixie dust your way and hope things turn out right for you!

Do you have trip insurance? I am sorry about the mess. With the economy being so bad, if they write you up are you at risk for losing your job? DCL is great, but there will be other cruises and I personally wouldn't do it the trip if it could get me fired or let go.

Yeah, I read that also- I guess I would have to convince DH to rebook another cruise, so we wouldn't lose the money. ;)

I'm thinking they did it because the cruise lines charge more (so they probably make more profit from the cruise booking vs direct). So people will likely book through their cruise more now to avoid losing the money in case the ship can't dock. And if you book direct and take a chance, they keep the money no matter what. Very smart on their part!

I would ask them what their policy is for taking time off without pay- just to see what would happen. If they are going to write you up or if there is a chance you would get fired, I would take choice #2. It's just such a bad time right now to be unemployed- I wouldn't want to risk it.

That really sucks though!!! I can't believe they would do that.

I do have trip insurance but I don't think it covers my airfare because at the time I booked the cruise I was planning to drive so I don't think it was included in the cost. I guess I need to check and see for sure though, I have never actually had to use it so I am not sure how it will work.

My job is pretty iffy most of the rules or "guidelines" as they are called are left up to managements discretion so it all depends on their mood for the day. Very frustrating, but you all are right, with the way times are this cruise is probably not worth my job as much as it hurts to say that ;) I just got SUCH a good deal...why oh why can't this deal come along for early August :thumbsup2

With the economy the way it is, I wouldn't be surprised if they kept releasing the Cat 12 deals through August!!! :wizard: :dance3:

That was the policy for me too, that it would be a 10% admin fee if the ship didn't go there.:goodvibes
I did read that you would have 1 year to make a new reservation, so you should be fine for November.

Thanks so much for this suggestion! I just called and it looks like my airfare may be reimbursed under my insurance, I don't know why I never thought about the insurance covering this, I was just thinking about the cruise itself. Well if I do decide to cancel that will make it a little easier :thumbsup2
